Yes, it can burn it. Just add it to the 'Source' box in Build mode. That's where you burn everything that isn't a disc image file (an ISO file). Please note though, It'll burn it exactly as it stands - so you'll need to be wanting to play the disc in something that can just play random mts files. If you want a proper Blu-ray video disc, you'll have to use something like MultiAVCHD to make the correct folder structure (BDMV folder) and then burn that. Did it not come with an OS installation / repair type disc? Some even let you repair / reinstall by pressing a certain key whilst on the BIOS screen.

There isn't one, it'll work fine. But rather than relaxing restrictions on an old file system, why not just use UDF and have native support for the things you're trying to do?

It should always be on calculate optimal. The custom option is meant for 1 time usage by advanced users or people doing (wanting to try doing) wierd things. If you aren't using it like that, you're simply 'doing it wrong'.

I very much doubt anything you found just laying around on your hdd (unless you specifically put it there) is actually suitable. Why do you want a startup discs? What do you actually want it to do?

Well, I can't think of a more direct way. Whichever account you choose to log in with and perform the actual backup needs to have access to all of the files you want to backup. So you either need to copy all of the files from various accounts into a folder it can get at or you need to give that acount permission on all of the folders. A proper backup tool probably wouldn't have that issue and could backup the entire lot regardless.

You'd do well to just use a proper hdd backup tool. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/Back-up-your-files or you could try Macrium Reflect - I believe there's a free version. Failing that, invest in something like Acronis True Image.

Have you tried another spindle of discs? Stick with the MKM-003-00 discs, they're the best ones for modern drives. Try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc. If it still fails after that then you could try the 2.4x Verbatim discs instead (MKM-001-00). If they also fail, get yourself another drive.
