A RAM drive would only help if you copied the image to the RAM drive and burnt it from there. If the drive has to stop and start burning all the time (due to the buffer being empty), that's when you might see the odd tiny spike on a KProbe scan. Burn quality is an internal drive thing so nothing you do outside of the drive (apart from things that change how the drive does stuff) will make any difference. No, you don't need a swap file for ImgBurn. The OS likes to use one when it's running low on physical memory though and you need one in place for writing out the memory dump should you ever get a BSOD.

Tools -> Drive -> Erase -> Full or Right click the drive selection box -> Erase -> Full or Click the 'Erase Disc...' button in the Destination box when you're in Write/Build/Discovery modes and click the 'Full' button.

You can use MultiAVCHD to convert your files and build a proper BD Video folder/file structure than you can then burn.

Audio CDs don't have a file system, hence no volume label.

The only way to find out the optimal speed for burning certain discs in a certain drive is to burn a disc or two at each speed and then scan them in a drive that supports scanning (LiteOn drives do) and see which ones have the lowest number of errors. That said, if you don't fancy messing with all that, just stick to the speeds you mentioned.

Overburning is simply a case of letting the drive decide where the end of the disc is and not (artificially) limiting the amount the program will attempt to burn to the reported capacity of the disc. ImgBurn has never stopped you from attempting to burn beyond the reported capacity of the disc, it just warns you about it when you try.

Either it works or it doesn't. It's not going to damage your drive. Try and burn more to a disc than its reported capacity and the drive will either error out straight away or it'll continue until it really can't burn any more. My advice? Don't even bother with it. Just burn what actually fits.

Turn your machine physically off and then on again. Rebooting isn't enough to fix this.

Can you at least post a log of you burning + verifying such a disc please.

AWS is a feature YOU have to configure (check the Guides). If you don't, the program just tells the drive to burn at the maximum speed it supports for that media. Hence the reason it says '(MAX)' next to where AWS is selected in the 'Write Speed' drop down box. If your drive supports burning at 10x on 4x media then that's down to the drive's manufacturer. All that stuff is controlled by the firmware and no program can make the drive do something it doesn't want to do.

You know as much as I do It could be due to dust/dirt/finger prints around the edge of the disc or due to an actual fault with it.

The drive reported a 'Write Error' so I guess it had a problem writing to the disc.
