  1. Ok well it looks like *something* has been written to it but it's not much and it certainly hasn't been finished off (closed / finalised etc) properly (or at all) ! You'd have to try closing the track first, then session, then disc. Try using the sector viewer to see if sector 16 is readable.
  2. You don't need to do anything, the program will just overwrite the data (that's how BD-RE work).
  3. You've got your samsung drive on the marvell controller... get it off it! It's also running old firmware - SB03 is available here - http://www.firmwarehq.com/Samsung/SH-S223B/files.html
  4. Make sure you're in Read mode and then copy + paste all the disc info from the box on the right.
  5. No, the strategies built into the firmware don't seem to play well with overburning. Like I said in that text, I had to re-enable FHT and OHT in the advanced settings (eeprom settings) in order to get a successful (overburnt) burn. By enabling FHT you're basically back where you started with the original c4e firmware - with the exception of being able to verify at 12x rather than 8x. You do however lose the ability to burn at 2.4x. If you're getting bad burns on MKM003 @ 4x with OPC on, it's probably due to the discs themselves (or faulty drive). Unfortunately, not even all Verbatim discs are created equal. The ones from Singapore always seem to produce the best result but even those can vary a bit. I've seen scans of perfectly flat L0 -> L1 PI/PO levels whereas mine seem to jump from about 5 PI on the 1st layer to about 20 PI on the 2nd layer. I don't get the a massive spike at the LB though which is what I've seen a lot of people complaining about.
  6. Yes, it does help and I notice there's a difference between the file system reported size and the actual size on the disc. Now I think the only thing that would really help here is to examine every sector and find the last anchor. But that's just to satisfy my curiosity and does nothing to help you! You should just run the tool from the site I linked you to and have it fix the ISO. Then the MS USB/DVD tool should work fine.
  7. Look in the status bar of the main window, what does it say? It sounds like you might have a problem with the 'searching for scsi / atapi devices' phase. In which case you should follow what it says in the following post and report back. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=59&view=findpost&p=972
  8. It would happen on any OS. For me, it's a problem with the 'CreateFile' API when using the 'FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING' flag. When you disable buffering you can only read in multiples of the *logical* sector size - so reading 2048 bytes would fail on a 4K logical sector drive but work fine on a 512 byte logical sector drive. Reading 8K would work just fine on both. The bit they talk about with XP not supporting Advanced Format drives is mainly for when XP partitions them I believe. And it should only be a problem when the drive emulates 512 byte logical sectors (due to bad alignment of the primary partition). http://hothardware.com/Reviews/WDs-1TB-Caviar-Green-w-Advanced-Format-Windows-XP-Users-Pay-Attention/?page=1
  9. I think the first ones that came out would have used 4k logical sectors (max speed) but now they always emulate 512 byte ones because it means all the programs still work - and don't error out in the way you're seeing here! I'm sure in another year or 2 once all the software has caught up they'll switch back to 4k logical again (it's faster).
  10. email sent, it should be with you in 5 - 10 minutes. Out of interest, how long ago did you get the drive?
  11. A 3TB drive you say... well this could be related to the 'Advanced Format' used on newer drives. The physical sectors are 4096 bytes in size rather than 512 bytes. I have a few 'Advanced Format' drives but all mine are 4K physical and 512 byte logical (via some sort of emulation). I'm guessing yours is 4K phyiscal and 4K logical - and that's why you're getting the error. I'd love to get a 4K logical drive for testing but they're impossible to track down! As it happens, I did a bit of tweaking yesterday to the code in question and it should fix this issue. I'll email you a version for testing if you like? Is your forum email address ok?

  13. Did you get the fixed version I sent over? I assume it did actually fix the problem for you?
  14. The drive switching the laser power level during the burn can make visible bands on the disc... it doesn't mean it was unburnt
  15. It's all the same thing, your drive is unable to burn to the media. mmalves already linked you to it but I guess I should do it again. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  16. ...and now you have problems on that too. The I/O interface has nothing to do with these problems. Patin Couffin is dead - even the people that made it don't use it on modern OS's.
  17. If you only have a vob file, you can't do what you're trying to do. It needs to be a proper set of DVD Video files (VIDEO_TS folder with IFO/VOB/BUP files). When you've got that, follow this guide... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=4632 'Mode' -> 'Build' is the same as clicking the 'Write files/folders to disc' or 'Create image file from files/folder' buttons. edit: darn, too slow!
  18. Could you also please copy + paste the disc information from the box on the right when you're in Read mode. The answer to the issue probably lies here... http://www.withinwindows.com/2009/11/01/use-the-windows-7-usbdvd-download-tool-with-custom-isos/ But I'm curious as to why the udf anchor isn't at the end of the disc in sector 1574703 where it should be.
  19. ...and stop using the Patin Couffin I/O Interface. Put it back on SPTI.
  20. Anything by Taiyo Yuden. Verbatim do some pastel coloured ones that use the Taiyo Yuden dyes.

You can delete that registry key again now btw
  23. Copy + paste the log of you reading the disc please.
  24. You can't put CDDA (CD Audio) on a DVD. Use a CD.
  25. Your buffer looks fine in both of those. The state of your OS should make no difference to the burn. All the program has to do is send the data to the drive and keep its buffer full. Everything else to do with burn quality etc is internal to the drive.
