  1. I'm sure it's just a 1 off, if you actually like to get emails when you get PM's then I wouldn't touch that setting. After all, you'll still get the PM even if the board doesn't then email you to tell you it's there.
  2. Give this updated firmware a try. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Sony/DW-Q31A/files.html If you still can't burn after that, read this: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  3. By that I mean what programs have you got installed that can burn discs - in any way, shape or form. Anything related to ISO images? Also, do you have anything like DAEMON Tools or Alcohol 52 / 120% installed (they're virtual drive programs - they emulate a DVDROM drive) -------------------------- You'd need to uninstall the patin couffin drive to really clear convertxtodvd off your system. Perhaps this thread will help? http://forums.vso-software.fr/patin-couffin-t6090.html
  4. When did you install it? What version is it exactly? What OS are you running? What other optical/virtual drive programs do you have installed (if any) ?
  5. That's a tiny disc, does it actually contain any real data?!
  6. It's something windows is doing (or another driver). There's no difference to ImgBurn (when it's running that 'CreateFile' api command to get a 'handle' to the drive) if you have a disc in the drive or not. So something deep down in windows is messing stuff up. What have you installed / updated since it last worked fine? Do you have DAEMON Tools / Alcohol on your PC at all?
  7. That error is from the Windows API rather than the drive - so I guess one of your drivers is blocking the command. You don't need to touch any of the Drive OEM stuff, anything with 'TSSTcorp' is handled internally.
  8. The new 2.4.4.0 release goes back to changing the gui settings by default - there's an option you can turn off if you don't want it to do that.
  9. The link in the email is fine, it just takes you to your 'inbox' here on the forum.... it's what *was* in your inbox (I deleted them all) that was spam.
  10. Yes they're spam and have been deleted.
  11. Full certification (where the drive tests all the sectors on the disc) failed because the drive doesn't like the disc. Writing to the sectors is failing for the same reason. Is that disc scratched at all? If not I guess the drive just doesn't like that dye. Buy some Verbatim ones instead, they're what I use in mine and I haven't had a problem yet *touch wood* !
  12. You must have joined at some point (23rd March 2008 to be exact) or you wouldn't exist in the database! I deleted all the PM's from the database as soon as I found out about them, that's why you can't read your one. Of course I was too late to stop the board from having emailed you about your new 'spam' PM though.
  13. Well the only reason I said that was because it allowed you to quit - normally that can't happen if the drive is stuck. If 2.4.4.0 doesn't work, please post an updated log file.
  14. Sending out another 20,000 emails... probably not a good idea
  15. I thought about that but decided against it (obviously!). DivX is a pretty well known name and players get certified for DivX playback so it made sense just to list that rather than go through all the possible avi codecs!
  16. DivX, XviD... it's all the same thing. So far as the program is concerned, it's any disc that has a *.avi or *.divx file on it in the root directory. The prompt comes from a new feature to help people (newbies) make discs that stand a decent chance of working on their standalone players. Most will not read the UDF file system and the ISO9660 one is limited to 8.3 characters. So basically, ImgBurn tells the user to switch to a file system option that includes Joliet.
  17. How odd! Is 8x the only one that makes blank discs or do all speeds do that? Do they actually look like they've been burnt if you look at the writing surface?
  18. No magic, I just did exactly what you said....looked at the version number and compared it to what's available. New versions have better support for certain dyes. There's a chance that MKM-003-00 is one of those where support has been improved.
  19. It makes no difference to me how many people want it.... I don't work like that. I know that it's something the program needs and it'll be implemented one day.
  20. Not really, I sent them all my findings in an email.
  21. Update your firmware. http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_154-fil...W141EU.EXE.html Update ImgBurn. www.imgburn.com By the looks of it, the drive was still burning when you told it to stop - i.e. the 'Retry' had worked.
  22. Well in that case you can just follow the guide in the Guides forum!
  23. Wouldn't it be quicker for you to plug it back in yourself?
  24. Please verify your burns. I wasn't aware that 8x produced an unreadable disc... and I'm not sure why it should if all the speeds are just being ignored and the disc is burning at max speed. Burn one at 8x (Test Mode OFF, Verify ON) and then copy + paste the log from that. Please also include the disc info stuff both before and after the burn so I can compare the two. As soon as I've finished rebuilding my PC I'll get that other build over to you - I assume your forum email address is ok? If not, please PM me a better one.
  25. Post the full log please
