The log is saved automatically. Help -> ImgBurn Logs... Just pick out the bit (well, the whole session of) where it failed and post that.

Happy Birthday Corny! Hope you have a good one

Current profile N/A and Device not ready(Medium not present)
LIGHTNING UK! replied to eddu's topic in ImgBurn Support
The 'Medium Not Present' message is what your drive is telling ImgBurn. ImgBurn can see your drive just fine, it's your drive that can't see the media in it - you have put a disc in it yeah?! If there really is a disc in it, you might just have a disc that the drive doesn't support. It's an old drive so try finding some quality 'older' (slower speed rating) media. -
You've done the 1.02 firmware update now then yeah? Open up device manager and get us a screenshot of the window when the ide ata/atapi controller and scsi/raid controller branches have been expanded (and are both visible!).
-
The burn isn't interrupted, the burn is OVER when the tray is ejected and it's nothing to do with why your drive can't initialise the disc.

Unable to lock volume for exclusive access error
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Chala's topic in ImgBurn Support
Make your own thread and post a log. Did you follow the post in the FAQ about this? -
Which booktype commands does the drive actually respond to? When you look at the NEC tab in the booktype options, does it actually say 'Current Setting: DVD-ROM' when you're on the 'Drive (For DVD+RW Media)' or 'Drive (For DVD+RW Media - Temporary)' options?

ImgBurn can't see any drives in user account
LIGHTNING UK! replied to wrapper's topic in ImgBurn Support
copy + paste all the info from the log window. You might just have to install one of the alternative I/O interfaces and tell ImgBurn to use that instead. It's weird that the policy setting didn't work though. -
The media thread says ALL double layer discs are rubbish except for Verbatim. Firmware 1.02 is out for your drive. http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/247910/l...e-download.html You can't use I/O debug mode on the Write process, the commands aren't logged (too slow).

No error message at all? How's the drive connected? PATA / SATA / USB / Firewire? Is the firmware up-to-date on the drive? Are your motherboard / controller drivers up-to-date? Regarding the media you're using, read this... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

If you're using '..\ImgBurn\ImgBurn.ini' you must already be in the ImgBurn folder? If so, why bother going to the parent directory (i.e. with '..\') only to then go back into the ImgBurn one? In any case, the code within ImgBurn for the '/SETTINGS' parameter will append the current working directory to the file name if no path is specified, otherwise it needs to be a fully qualified path. Oh and don't forget that the program will automatically load a file call ImgBurn.ini from within the same folder as the exe.

The quality is nothing to do with me, I tell directshow the source file and tell it I want PCM 44khz output... it does the rest. If you're getting dodgy sounding files then one of your directshow filters is messed up. Open your file in graphedit and see which filters get added. I'm sure audio burning will get it's own interface one day, but for now it piggy backs onto ImgBurn's CUE file burning support.

Coody, The problem you're having is the very reason I make ImgBurn eject the disc before it verifies. It's to catch problems where the drive cannot re-initialise the disc. You wouldn't have known that the drive couldn't read the disc if ImgBurn didn't eject it in the first place. Surely you must agree it's better to know about that kind of issue at the time of burning rather than when you've potentially deleted the files you backed up on the 'unreadable' disc?! As for erasing / formatting before burning... well ImgBurn does that already.

If you're getting duff burns on 'SONY-D21-00' media you have 3 choices... 1. Try the 2D15 firmware update - http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloa...p;fileid=261700 2. Try slowing the write speed down to 8x or 12x 3. Stop using them and invest in some Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden instead. You should do 1 & 2 regardless.

How to format/rewrite a finalised DVD +RW disc?
LIGHTNING UK! replied to bdev's topic in ImgBurn Support
You can't, they're 'Write Once' media. -
How to format/rewrite a finalised DVD +RW disc?
LIGHTNING UK! replied to bdev's topic in ImgBurn Support
DVD+RW just get overwritten, you don't need to erase / format them again. Put the disc in the drive and copy + paste all the text from the disc information panel on the right when you're in Write mode. -
Try the YH14 firmware update. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/generic...c=en&dlc=en Burn at 8x or 12x. If none of that works, ditch those discs and get some Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden instead - they're a lot better.

I'm glad to hear MS fixed the issue then. -
Change Book Type Broken Under Vista x64 SP1?
LIGHTNING UK! replied to metadff's topic in ImgBurn Support
Falcon, if the drivers simply don't like the command then there's nothing I can do about it. It's quite common for AHCI/RAID drivers to simply ignore commands that aren't meant for HDD's. Not long ago there were several cases of them blocking the command used to erase a disc, simply because it doesn't apply to hdds. There's no way around it except to hope that one day whoever makes the drivers starts allowing said command. I'm sorry but it's out of my hands. Oh and I don't interface with drivers, the SPTI code is higher level than that. -
Load the program and before you insert any discs, press F8 to enable I/O debug mode. Now insert your disc and try to burn something. When it gets stuck the last entries in the log will be the command your machine has got stuck processing. You can copy + paste the text from the log window rather than getting screenshots. btw, is the firmware on your drive up-to-date?
-
So it was a 10 pack? Doesn't it say where they're from on the label or something? (perhaps near the barcode) I wouldn't call them 'broken', just that your drive's firmware isn't tweaked for burning them.

You can't booktype DVD-R fullstop. I hope you didn't buy that ASUS burner because you saw it had the same brand name as your motherboard. You don't buy an optical drive because the parent company makes good motherboards. You buy an optical drive because the parent company makes good optical drives. ASUS isn't a make I'd recommend to people.

Invalid field in parameter list...I/O Error: Scsi Status 0 x 02
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Shot2kl's topic in ImgBurn Support
Use EAC for extracting your audio tracks and remove pinnacle. Then remove those 2 filter drivers (ASAPIW2K, CDRDRV). As mmalves said, your drive is getting on a bit now and probably doesn't like the MKM-003-00 discs too much, try getting the 2.4x Verbs instead with the MKM-001-00 dye - or just get yourself a new external drive that does support them. -
