I'd be amazed if that PC didn't have SATA. SATA has been around for a while now.

Plextor don't make their own drives now so don't waste your time with them, buy the OEM ones instead. Have you actually looked at the IBG file yet?! It's really not that hard to do and it'll put an end to you thinking there's an issue with your drive.
-
Well you could rule out the OS by trying a 'live cd' (linux) of some sort. What SL discs have you tried in the drive? You said they fail too yeah? Have you looked for a bios update for your laptop? Go to the manufacturers website and check for bios and firmware updates. Have you installed everything 'Windows Update' offers you - you might need to make it show you *everything* rather than just critical updates etc.
-
Did it just stop at 30% again or did it error out this time? Have you tried at 4x too? You might just have to invest in a decent external usb drive and try that instead.

You can get vista SP1 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Before the burn... After the burn... I've seen this with liteon drives a few times now but have no idea why it happens. It doesn't appear to initialise the disc properly and I bet that's part of the reason why the verify then fails. Turn off the DVD+R Reserve Track option in the settings and then try again.

Not burning L1 tracks on DL disks correctly

That's weird because the drive there seems to be able to read it back just fine. You could try turning the 'Perform OPC Before Write' option on in the settings (write tab). -

burn AND verify please. -
1. Why did you put your last post in the Announcments thread?! Clearly that's not the place for it - especially when you already had this thread going. 2. The 'I 21:28:29 OPC: Yes' log entry is not the same thing as the WOPC function that your drive performs automatically during the burn (potentially lowering your average speed). WOPC cannot be toggled on/off on Pioneer drives, it's just something they do in order to adjust the laser power on the fly whilst it's burning - so you get the best burn quality it can achieve. We've asked you several times to look at the IBG data in DVDInfoPro so you can see the write speed curve but you've yet to do it. If you don't know how, just ask and we'll tell you. You can of course just upload the IBG file that ImgBurn spat out and we'll do it for you.

Awesome that it can now read Multi-Track CD's!
LIGHTNING UK! replied to DudeBoyz's topic in ImgBurn General
It was an obvious step forwards, and one that was needed for audio cds etc. I do eventually get around to most things. -
It's not uncommon for new drives to not like old discs. As I mentioned before, try with some 'ultra speed' 24x or 32x CDRW.

The... [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\APIX] "ExcludeMiniports"="" line is what the reg file in the FAQ adds.

Not burning L1 tracks on DL disks correctly

Post the log of your latest burn+verify. Drives frequently say a disc has burnt correctly when it hasn't, that's the whole point of the Verify phase. ImgBurn doesn't guess at errors, the drive has to return one for ImgBurn to display it to the user. -
You really need to look at the burn speed graph. Hardly any drives will burn at 8x from start to finish, they'll probably start at 6x and move up to 8x after a period of time.
-
Ok well it's probably going to be your drivers / machine setup then. Being a laptop (?) there's only so much you can do. I'd start with the filter drivers list (viewed via the feature in the Tools menu) and then move onto the laptop/motherboard bios, chipset drivers, ide drivers etc. Has it ever worked? What about on single layer discs? Are there any firmware updates available for the drive? Are you running service pack 1 for vista? If not, give that a try.

If you're burning loads (hundreds / thousands) of tiny files then the A/V scanning overhead could cause buffer issues. Just burning bigger files / images shouldn't be a problem for it. If you've only got the 1 hdd just remember that every access (downloading / uploading / playing files etc) is additional I/O for the drive to do. Drives are much faster when reading / writing sequentially so try to avoid making it do a lot of random accessing.

Read the FAQ, it tells you how to make Adaptec ASPI work. You just have to import a registry file that manipulates 1 key. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=968 I doubt the Nero ASPI will be of any use to you on a 9x based OS - or at least not just the DLL, you'd need their proper ASPI package.

No, that's a PATA drive.

8x or 12x would be best. Ensure the 'File Systems' option is set so that it includes Joliet and/or UDF. They'll enable you to use longer file names. Keep an eye on the log window because it'll tell you if any get truncated.

You want Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL discs. (MKM-001-00 dye, made in Singapore)

Illegal Mode For Track Copying Ghost CD
LIGHTNING UK! replied to user1010101's topic in ImgBurn Support
What happens if you click 'Ignore/Continue' on the box that pops up? Can you also please copy + paste the all the disc information text from the area on the right of the main window (when in Read mode) so I can see what it says for that disc. Thanks. -
I/O Write Error with Pioneer 111d and Verbatim media
LIGHTNING UK! replied to bassld's topic in ImgBurn Support
Please make your own thread and post your burn / verify logs. -
Look in the log window when you extract the boot image, it provides all the info you require for your new compilation.
-
All I need to say is that your drive SHOULD be burning fine on that disc and it's not. Errors like these are nothing to do with the program, they come directly from the drive and are a result of it running into a problem when burning the media you're using. It's purely a hardware/media/firmware thing. I can't make it happen and I can't stop it from happening - it's totally out of my hands. Try burning at 10x. You've selected 1x and that's not even a supported speed - so the drive would use the 4x anyway.

Do you verify your burns? Where's the burn(+verify) log?
