mmalves meant for you to use Build mode to create a new image (or burn directly to disc) using the virtual drive as the 'source' folder.
-
You should try some Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye, made in Singapore) discs instead.
-
Have you tried burning at 12x or 8x? Maybe the 4x write strategy just doesn't work (very well) ?

ImgBurn freezes after reading Blu-Ray to disk
LIGHTNING UK! replied to Sheekamoo's topic in ImgBurn Support
Looks like the drive has run into problems then, ImgBurn isn't trying to do anything it hasn't already done (or your wouldn't have been able to 'Read' anyway). What you need to do in order to find the exact command the drive is having trouble processing is press the F8 key reading finishes. It'll then capture all the I/O the program does. When you click 'ok' on the box after reading you should get a quick list of I/O commands and the last one in the log window will be the one the drive is having trouble processing. Just copy + paste the last few into another message so we can see what it says. -
There will never be one.
-
All that's 'recommended' is that you get the best burn possible. If 4x doesn't work full stop, it's not exactly a valid speed for getting the 'best burn' !
-
What if you increase the write speed? The drive might be better at burning that media at 8x or 12x than at 4x.

What does ImgBurn say it's doing in the statusbar? -
It'll be added when build mode gets a revamp to make it more 'explorer' like. Don't ask when that'll happen because I don't know yet.
-
Your drive is making bad burns on the media - it's pretty old now that one isn't it? Maybe it's time to invest
-
The drive is what returned that error code. If there wasn't a 'write error' (i.e. some problem writing to the media), it wouldn't have said it. If Nero works, try setting ImgBurn to use the 'Incremental' write type instead of SAO/DAO. When drives are having problems burning that can sometimes get around it.

If you're using Build mode and burning to DVD-R DL they're not quite so bad. (Using them in Write mode would be worse unless the image was built especially for them - which ImgBurn can do) With DVD+R DL the program has a whole range of addresses it can align the cells on, with DVD-R DL it just has the one (because it's fixed). If your players can play DVD-R DL ok and your drive produces good burns on them, you really shouldn't worry too much. Due to the address range Vs single address thing though, you'll normally get (a lot) more 'potential LB positions' with DVD+R DL and I'm sure that quite often there won't be any available to you when using DVD-R DL... that's why DVD+R DL is the preferred format.

Give the drive a clean and try some Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden media (they're better than the TTH02 stuff you're using).

Why did BIN/CUE worked and MDF/MDS didn't?

Explorer type view in the Filesystem burning menu
LIGHTNING UK! replied to smu johnson's topic in ImgBurn Suggestions
You misunderstand me... build mode was not designed to be anything more than it is now. I wanted it to look and work exactly as how it does. (I actually like cdrwin, it's what I grew up with!) The bigger explorer type window obviously won't fit with the current program layout/interface/design and for obvious reasons, I'm hesitant to change that. I have no doubt that the build interface will be changed at some point and with it will come the addition of other new features that go hand in hand with the more advanced disc building/authoring window - like multisession etc. So nobody else needs to 'request' this, I'm not daft and I'm well aware of what needs doing in the program to make it appeal to more people. -
As they're not an image file you want the 'write files/folders' option. The exact error message is VERY important, there are far too many to just guess at it. If the drive has a disc in it and yet it still says 'Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present)' in the statusbar it means the drive doesn't like the discs you're using and cannot initialise them properly. Try just ejecting and reinserting it. Double checking the obvious though, you do have the correct drive selected in the drop down box yeah? Just in case you have multiple drives.

Burned dvd in pc good - in stand alone no good
LIGHTNING UK! replied to davidw's topic in ImgBurn Support
Going by the size, it looks like you're burning an AVI or something... you can't do that and expect it to play on a DVD Video player. You need to covert it to DVD Video format. -
I'm not saying it's the sole reason for the issue, or even *a* reason, I'm just telling you what I know I actually think the drive is on it's way out or you've been unlucky with your latest spindle of media.
-
Ah, you must have the drive on the jmicron controller as Intel dropped the IDE interface on the ICH8 chipset. They're not as good at running optical drives and it's pretty important that you're running the latest motherboard bios (which takes care of the jmicron bios) and the latest drivers - you can get those from the jmicron ftp site. Personally I've just ignored the jmicron interface on my board and opted for a Silicon Image 680 PCI card instead. Do try one or two more discs at 8x, 12x and 16x but if they all fail you really need to start thinking about ditching the old IDE drive and getting yourself a new SATA one - which you can then install on the proper intel ICH8 chipset.
-
I guess to start with you open up Device Manager and expand the IDE controllers branch to see what's listed under it. Then do the same for SCSI controllers (if you have it). See if you can get us a screenshot of everything you see under both areas. It means the drive is going to booktype your DVD+R media to make it look like a DVD-ROM disc so it's more compatible in players. It's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
-
Hmm sounds like something's not quite right then. Got access to another PC you could try it on?
-
ImgBurn isn't making it DVD-R, your drive is producing a bad burn on the disc and the drive can't / isn't initialising it properly. Notice this line... changes to... Try burning at 8x or 12x, you might have more luck. If it keeps messing up you might like to consider investing

WinImage does it too. http://www.winimage.com/

Do you mean that the firmware update is failing or that burning is still failing after doing it? If the firmware update is failing, what's the message? Are you sure you got the right one? You want this one... http://www.sonynec-optiarc.eu/uploads/kV/g..._104_080415.ZIP
