  1. lol you're a funny guy. DVD Dec never did what you're saying it did. Same way as ImgBurn doesn't, and won't ever do it. If you ever did burn anything to a SL disc, it probably wasn't the entire thing or the source just happened to be SL too. That is the ONLY way it would have worked.
  2. You're totally not getting what that option is for. It's nothing to do with thing you think it is. The program will never compress anything. It's a burning tool.
  3. You're still really limiting yourself by using that drive. The media is rated at 16x and your drive will only do 2x at best. The Verbatim DVD+R discs are also better than the DVD-R ones. The opposite is true for Taiyo Yuden where the DVD-R ones are better than the DVD+R ones.
  4. You could always order them online? Stores are always overpriced.
  5. Is it vital that you use DVD-R DL discs? The DVD+R DL ones are far more common and your drive probably supports them properly. At the moment, it just seems as though it can't handle burning to them.
  6. Your discs should be fine. I personally prefer the DVD+R's from Verbatim to their DVD-R ones. I prefer the DVD-R Taiyo Yudens to the DVD+R ones though, so it all works out ok in the end! Try giving your drive a clean with a lens cleaner. If it can't burn decent media properly, it's probably on it's way to the drive retirement home in the sky.
  7. They're not great discs, try slowing the burn down to 8x. If you know who makes the drive, look for a firmware update for it.
  8. Happy Smurfday!
  9. That drive is probably more trouble than it's worth. You don't have a v2 drive, that's why the v2.5 firmware won't work. v1.5a is the latest available for your one. Get yourself an external drive, or just buy any old IDE drive and stick it in a USB->IDE enclosure.
  10. Hmm that's an odd error pattern. It just looks like some bits are getting swapped in the one byte within a sector. Can you verify in another drive or is that the only one you have? Are you only getting these errors if you burn to DL media? What if you burn to a DVD+RW and just ignore the space issue? It'll bomb out during the write (as it gets to the end of the disc) but you should at least be able to see if there's a general problem. (Again, you'll have to do a manual verify as it won't do it automatically if the write fails).
  11. Sony don't really make drives, they just rebadge them. You're better off buying them from the original manufacturer.
  12. 'Current Profile' is nothing at all to do with the booktype. Booktype is mentioned under 'Physical Format Information (Last Recorded)'.
  13. ImgBurn won't read protected discs, so if that's what you're doing, it won't work - period. If it's not that, the disc has a scratch or something on it that the drive just can get past (read).
  14. It burns 'files' in build mode. It won't take a RAR file and burn the contents of it, it'll burn the RAR itself.
  15. 1. If you're running the latest ImgBurn, you don't need to do anything for booktyping on LG drives, it's all automatic - as it is in Nero. 2. PUO's stop you from jumping to the main menu etc, it's not any form of 'protection'. They're really just there to stop you from doing things at certain times when you shouldn't be able to. All that stuff is beyond the scope of ImgBurn so please don't ask further questions on the matter.
  16. Sorry LFC, been away from home this weekend for my mates birthday. Hope you had a good one
  17. Use different discs. Your drive doesn't like the ones you're currently using.
  18. I'm really hoping that not having media in the drive IS NOT the issue here! But yeah, the status bar message is currently our biggest clue. Drives that don't support the discs they have in them also use that message (well, some do), so that would be my guess at the moment.
  19. Correct, they're both just data discs. ImgBurn just does a few more checks for DVD Video if it finds a VIDEO_TS folder. There's no real need for a separate option.
  20. If the drive can't read back what it just wrote, there's certainly a problem somewhere. I'd start by updating the firmware on the drive to the latest version. http://www.liteonit.eu/eu/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SH...re/DR16HS0E.rar
  21. Yeah you're not really telling us what the problem is! Or at least what you 'think' it is.
  22. If your drive won't read the disc then there's not much anyone can do about it. Are you always getting errors at that certain sector? Look at the overall size of the disc (capacity), are the errors occurring when it gets to the end of it or just anywhere/random places?
