  1. Are they hidden? Does the image info box that pops up say it's adding 93 files to the image? What if you click the 'Calculate' button? Which options do you have ticked on the 'Options' tab? (A screenshot and log would come in handy)
  2. I still think it's ok to tape from the tv if it's for your own use and not to make a profit. If I taped lastnights episode of Hollyoaks because I wanted to go meet some mates down the pub, I don't think anyone would complain. If the copyright holder doesn't care that I taped it to watch later on, it can't be illegal. I guess that comes under the whole 'timeshifting' thing. http://www.innermind.com/myguides/misc/faqtrade.htm I guess that with a movie, although it's really only 'extreme timeshifting' if you burn to DVD-R or whatever, you're basically doing the copyright holder out of the money you would have paid to buy the film on a commercial DVD (even if it's not one you would have actually paid for). As such, I really wouldn't like to say either way if it's ok or not.
  3. As mmalves said... Sorry, we can't help you.
  4. ImgBurn doesn't copy protected discs. If that's what you're trying to do, that's why it won't work.
  5. XBOX discs are protected and nobody here will help you with that.
  6. congrats.
  7. Yes, it would lower the average, but you'd still see the 'maximum' reach the expected 16x - and that's enough to know it's working fine.
  8. It's freeware, you can use it. Out of interest, have you had quotes for using other burning utils in a corporate environment? I'm just wondering on what they charge for large scale usage!
  9. ImgBurn only reports the errors, they're from Windows or the device itself.
  10. Blimey, 1.09 firmware.... ever considered updating it?! They're up to 1.21 now! If the locking issue cannot be fixed and that silly sidebar won't stop using the drive for no reason, you'll have to disable the 'lock volume' option in the 'Write' tab of ImgBurn's settings.
  11. Having had a look on Google quickly, I think that model is import only. Even then, it looks more like a player library than an automated burning device. I guess you can just load blanks in all the slots and then burn from there? I think the one with the robotic arm looks cooler! Do you actually have one of them yet? Set me up with a remote desktop connection to a PC that it's connected to and I could probably get it working. EDIT: lol there is one on ebay going cheap but it's $150 - $200 to send it to the UK! (Assuming 45 pounds in weight and using USPS)
  12. As much as I'd like to help, I can't really expect you to buy me one.
  13. What gadgets have you added to the sidebar? I don't recall my vista install moaning about locking things with the default sidebar. Changing away from SPTI isn't a magic fix, it just means the command isn't issued and hence can't fail!
  14. 'Micro UDF' ?! Never heard of it! Makes sense though I guess as that's were all the pointers come in. Going by the MMC specs, standalone DVD players do indeed only need to be able to parse UDF. The others are optional. Even though logically, the VOBs are accessed as if they were 1 large file (you can't have gaps between them), single, large VOBs should not be used.
  15. I think you're confusing 'Burn Proof' with 'WOPC / SolidBurn / etc etc' Burn Proof just tells the drive to wait for more data if it's buffer runs out - rather than erroring out and creating a coaster. The only problem here is that only just over 1/3 the disc was burnt - hence max speed would never have been reached.
  16. I'm sure you're ok to tape stuff from the TV?!... unless it's on 'Sky Box Office' or something, where I'm sure they prevent you from doing such things.
  17. On those discs, 8x should be perfectly fine. Oh and 'Auto' doesn't do anything unless you configure your settings (media) in the 'Automatic Write Speed' window / dialog. If there's no specific setting for the media / drive, it'll just use whatever 'MAX' is.
  18. ImgBurn doesn't default to anything... 4x and 8x are the only speeds your drive supports on that media. Verify your burns and then you'll be able to tell if the drive is burning the discs ok. Other than that, we can't really help you with whatever these black lines are. It's impossible to imagine such a thing, and it's certainly nothing to do with any software.
  19. ImgBurn is fine, let it do what it thinks best. DVD Video uses 'ISO9600 + UDF' - period! You should not have a VOB file any larger than 1GB (- 2KB) in size. If you have, you've messed up some options somewhere in whatever created it. So basically, you have a 'source files' issue here, not a burning one. Until it's a burning one, this isn't the place for you to be asking questions (because we can't / won't answer them) - Sorry!
  20. DVD Dec wouldn't be parsing the filesystem, that's why. Open the drive in explorer, highlight all the folders, right click and select 'Properties'. It takes aaaaaaagggggeeeees to count up all the files etc and show you the sizes. Sorry but that's just how these slow devices work. What I'll do is add an option to turn off the parsing, or to automatically cancel it if it's taking too long - i.e. over 20 / 30 seconds.
  21. Your drive is just creating burns it can't then read back properly. To start with, update your drives firmware to v1.06 http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1681 Then try finding some decent DVD+R discs. We recommend Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden. Go for the 8x ones as that's all your drive will cope with.
  22. *cough* Update ImgBurn *cough*
  23. There are no 'facts' here, all you're doing is playing a game of Russian roulette. If you try something enough times, it's bound to happen eventually. When you use Verbatim media, that would mean you occasionally get a duff burn. When you use the other brands, that would mean you occasionally get a good burn. I don't expect you to understand the technical side of the issue you're experiencing and how the software plays no part in it, but you really shouldn't be quite so cocky about the whole thing. It'll only come back to bite you on the arse - and I mean that in a friendly way!
  24. There are loads that don't need to be there. He should only really be overriding the ones he NEEDS to set differently to the default ones. To remove the 'burn with imgburn' options, you just unclick the 'File Association' checkboxes in the settings and close the program down. If they're still there it's because another program has changed the file association stuff and I've no way of knowing where they are now.
  25. Just exactly which files do you see in your VIDEO_TS folder on the disc?
