Yup, the failure rate is HIGh with ritek , the onlyD/L media worth using is verbatim . on studying your logfile, it appears that it starts to write layer 2 ok, then not long after it gives up. i 16:35:18 Writing Layer 1... Just for the sheer fun of it ( and the fact the Italy v France game was boring till zinadane took to street fighting) , i tried a few burns and linked an external hdd and an external burner up, but i daisy chained them a differant way to normal with firewire . the point of the excercise is to show how poor a laptops performance really is with buffer levels, due to internal components and speeds of those components normally the device buffer and buffer play happily around the 80-100% marks having connected them in a differant sequence to usual, i managed to get the buffers to TOTALLY empty on 2 consequtive burns, HOWEVER , the external burner ( an old LG4120b) still managed to complete the burn without stopping, using burnproof feature in IB . the ;aptop was connected to the external writer by mini firewire to firewire, then the source hdd was connected to the writer by daisychain 6 pin to 6 pin firewire cable. In effect, this is producing a restricted I/O operation , hence the low buffer levels. laptop used was a P4 2.2 with 1gig ram .external hdd rpm is 7200 , this "should" have been capable of overcoming the I/O restriction i forced on it the following log is for 2 burns of a 4.35gb test ISO . notice the parts ive highlighted in red , showing the min and average burn speeds , for all the burns i watched the 2 buffers dancing up and down between 0% and 100% and at several times , BOTH buffers were empty !! what im trying to point out is that NO MATTER WHAT is altered in ImgBurn , a laptop will never keep up with what IB is capable of with a good desk top set up.Remember, to miniaturise is to reduce , and its not the physical size of the PC thats changed ,its the performance of it as well I 23:27:51 ImgBurn Version *.*.*.* Beta started! -
your really going to have to consider doing all your "resource hungry" stuff on a desktop set up . despite all the claims that notebooks/laptops are desk replacements , this statement is FAR from true , believe me, ive been on laptops for 10 years now and STILL cant find one that matches a desktop spec/speed for spec/speed. moreover , burners in laptops have never been up to the specs there described as having , they all seem to exagerate there speeds in the adverts. do you have any external drives you can connect to your laptop by usb2 or firewire ?? these will operate MUCH more efficiently than internal ones . my internal burner will only write dvd at 4x max, and cd at 28x before they fail , whereas my external firewire ones will go dvd at 8x constant and cd at 48x

How do you change the booktype to DVD-ROM
volvofl10 replied to ElBoricua433's topic in ImgBurn Support
500 changes is a LOT anyway . you will probably buy a new drive before you get to the 500 limit as well. 500 Dual layer discs is almost the same as burning 1000 normal DV5 discs . 500 D/L discs is VERY expensive as well #39;( -
dont be shocked , they did the same with the slimline PSTwo . a large number of those boiled there bollocks off within days of purchase

justa timely reminder that ENGLISH is the accepted language of the forum Oh, and byt he way , no advertising either -
correct. most players dont support DVD-RAM , but theres a lot more DO support it than support DivX or XviD most panasonics standalones do RAM these days , and you will struggle to find an XviD player in a local store

gotta be honest , i stuck with TYG02 , even when TYG03 came out , cant fault them

just to add nero tells lies anyway , it reports wrong write speeds , just check the amount of time it takes to confirm this. forget the hdd speed, whats the max speed your laptops writer will write at ? regardless of hdd speed , laptops are extrememly slow in comparisson with a desktop set up . as for emptying the buffer , well i test on an old laptop( only has an internal dvd rom , its that old), with a very slow hdd speed , and ive burnt to an external burner and dvd drive whilst doing all of the following at the same time; converting an dv camcorder tape to vobs (very cpu and memory intensive) browsing web using MS word i can even run shrink ( which slows the laptop down even when nothing else is running) and burn at the same time ive even had the auto scan of my Anti Virus kick in before now when ive forgotten to disable it after a reinstall. so im baffled as to how you can empty the buffer !! sadly the releae of V2 will probably be delayed while LUK and the team double check/test for buffer underunning now

as per Cornholio above , and just to add , due to Legal reasons we CANNOT discuss anything on this forum thats has to do with copy protection and the removal of it , and/or any tools that do this . this is mainly to keep the Boss out of trouble

i assume you are connecting dv cam to laptop by firewire ? or are if not, what are you using ? main problem with laptops is the hdd speed, its not uncommon for the hdd to be to slow for video capture , especially with Movie Maker ( i dont know about premier) . this ties in with why it worked on a mac machine before as well im not saying this is the problem in your case, but it seems to be the most common one for video dropout and frames dropped

as a Type Checker , Lightning pays me 18 pounds an hour , but i have to find all the spelling mistakes for that much . So far , in the last 3 years, ive earned 2 pounds in total he did offer me the job of cleaning the toilets as well, but i said it would have to pay more than 18 pounds an hour, so for that i get time and a turd its a shitty job, but one that ahs to be done im not allowed to have the english pound symbol ( ? ) on my PC ,my probation officer said spending to many pounds is what landed me in court in the first place fortunately for me , it was the banks pounds that time
