  1. Hi GV how are you? Nobody will be able to answer anything about ripping here due to legal reasons. That's my understanding anyway...

Altercuno is 100% right we can't help you with any ripping problems ,DVD Decrypter was shut down for its ripping ability and we wont jepordize IB by offering advice on ripping, sorry

  2. Leave IMGburn on defaults its the optimal settings and works perfect that way .I never change the settings other than to have the program eject the tray after read, write and verify and with great media haven't burned a coaster in years .

with all the fiddleing you're doing the program wont work any better than Defaults

    Footy

anouncers here are the same way with sports ,half the time I wonder what they see and most of the time I turn off the volume and just watch the game

  3. Verbatim DataLifePlus Cryctal Super AZO CD -R = 'ZD2003-CDR-A80A' Media ID

its a CD so burning it at 16x or 24x will be OK we try to limit burning DVD's to 8X for best quality

this is not rocket science its ISO read and ISO write that simple and if you havent messed around with the settings then IB will verify the burned cd against the ISO image and you'll see it in the log

  4. Tools ,Settings ,Defaults re set IMGburn it works fine with default settings start there

failure to lock the drive for exclusive access means another program was open that was accessing or trying to use the drive

  5. So, if I understand correctly, ImgBurn can read only uncompressed files. So, how to create ISO image from CD? Unfortunately, program contains no help file, even simple. However, probably ImgBurn just not intended to be used for creation of an ISO image, as I know, most users use Magic ISO or UltraISO for this task.

IB creates ISO's in build mode ,have you bothered to read the cd to your hard drive ? doesn't look like it ,IB does not uncompress anything its not one of its functions ,for a look I read my sound blaster software CD to my HD and it was an ISO ,try to read it and see what happens

"So, if I understand correctly, ImgBurn can read only uncompressed files."

False IB reads compressed stuff I make copies of compressed dvd's without any problems, do you think it would be any different because its a CD, will you read the disc to your HD already please and post the log when you do

  6. you're never going to have files on the hard drive with encryption , so IB doesn't need to check, it would be impossible to copy to the HD without bypassing copyright protection ,so if the files are on the hd then they are not encrypted and you can do pretty much anything you want with them

  7. drive would have to seek constantly to write directory entries for each file whereas with an ISO(1 file ) its write once .The ISO has all the files, its really only a photograph of the files and they can be extracted if you choose

IB will refuse to copy protected dvd's with a message

  8. Decrypter was shut down for legal reasons namely its ability to bypass copyright protection ,we dont support it at all and all questions about "ripping " are off limits here sorry but thats the way it has to be . You could do a Google search and find what you need

  9. After ripping a disc to my hard drive in file mode, how do I Build the ISO and keep the layer break in the same place as it is on the original? Does Imgburn mark which choice is the original layer break? If I rip with DVDFabDec I can uncheck the option to 'remove layer break'. How would that help, if it does?

    Thanks! :)

sorry but theres no support for "ripping" on this forum,Maybe Fab has a support forum .Legal issues keep us from discussing bypassing copyright protection

  10. How can you tell whether the error is artificial or just one of the many scratches placed on the DVD by my 3 year old?

I think I'd bet on the scratches put there by the three yr old ,it can also be that the disc is crap media and over time has become unreadable you could try to polish out the scratches using toothpaste and a really soft cloth or use isopropyl alcahol to clean the disc
