A log would help us help you

The hold up is you have the wrong tool for what you are trying to do. You wouldn't dig a hole with a hammer...
If you want to encode your .avi into a dvd complaint format you'll need a program such as DVD Flick. From there you'll be able to use Imgburn to burn your ISO (write mode) or VIDEO_TS (build mode) folder onto your blank disc. Some DVD players support DivX/XviD playback and the encode step can be skipped...simply burn your .avi in it's raw form onto your disc.

Make sure you are using the latest version of Imgburn 2.4.2.0
Get some good discs...Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
Turn verification on.
-
The reason we don't recommend brands for DL burning other than Verbatim is due to the results you are seeing...shoddy inconsistent results which leave you scratching your head. How does the burner deal with single layer media? Two burners, same media, failure with both would point to the media.

I thought this had already been implemented, but I'm not at home and can't check it....see link above.

Try build mode.
-
What brand discs are you using? A log would help....as well as not fingering your friend for piracy.

It's not hard
Never is
They make drugs for that now a days Donta

My suggestion is to try the discs you have at 4X, if that doesn't work then try Verbatim discs.
-
You are still using the same crapola discs

What is the hotfix number?
Do you want the PC to sleep? Go to control panel>power settings> and set it to "never sleep"

E 22:34:48 Failed to Write Image!
Your burn fails at the beginning of the process...if new (better) discs don't do the trick it might be time for a new one.

I 17:32:01 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x)
I 17:32:01 Destination Media Sectors: 3,827,520
I 17:32:01 Write Mode: DVD
I 17:32:01 Write Type: DAO
I 17:32:01 Write Speed: 1x
Your burner only supports 4X burning with these discs....outside of that we only recommend Verbatim for DL applications.

SONY DVD RW AW-G170A 1.71

You need to update your firmware via the link LUK gave you earlier...here it is again ~ https://sales.sony-semicon.co.uk/sunshine/i...;desc3=Firmware

That is your text data....track name, album name etc.
-
You could try setting the booktype with CDSpeed and then see if it actually booktypes when you burn with Imgburn.
-
Sounds like more of a DVD Flick problem than an Imgburn problem. Do you get the same results if you manually burn the files created with DVD Flick?
-
No problem, just start a thread for your specific problem.
-
What's up with that spam link?
-
It means start your own thread so the original poster doesn't get confused with advice we are giving you and vice versa.

Your drive is on the way out....actually looks like it's already out.
Same discs and your drive reports differently each time....
Check that your USB cable isn't defective. Otherwise a new drive is in your future. Dinosaur today, fossil tomorrow.
