  1. Your firends burner model likes those discs, the one you have hates them. Try better quality media like Verbatim.
  2. SPTI is the default one for modern OS like XP. Tried the 6x and 8x write speed also?
  3. The old Memorex discs that could be written in the past, did they have the same media code? This media code is usually tricky for burners to deal with as it's rare to see it supported by the firmware/burner. Insert an old disc and switch to read mode and look in text of the right side of the progrram under disc info.
  4. Sure it was a new disc you used? Normally it should state this size for a new disc.
  5. Settings in the Write tab/page 1 Change the setting for "Write Mode" to "Auto".
  6. Change the setting back to "Auto".
  7. Normally it's installed at the same time as the program. http://www.optidrivecontrol.com/files/OptiDriveControl.pdf
  8. I should have checked this before. You need a Blu-ray burner if you want to burn Blu-ray discs. This model is not one of those. http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=28410
  9. Sure it's a new disc? Looks used to me.
  10. Sure it was ImgBurn you downloaded and not one of the burning programs in the ads?
  11. The time in length is of no special factor to determine if it fits or not. If you need to get it down in size to fit a single layer disc - use DVD Shrink or a similar application.
  12. The ISO9660 file system can only hold a file smaller than 4GB. If it's bigger - use UDF. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_9660
  13. A cleaning disc might help. Tried the other two available speeds - 4x & 6x? Servo error might indicate hardware related problem inside the burner.
  14. As written before, some burners like these cheap discs and some just give them a bit of burns sometimes ok.
  15. And he has the exact same model of burner as you?
  16. By inserting a previous burned (and working disc) in the drive and in ImgBurn look for this type of row. For the previously burned ones, you should be able to see it if you enter the read mode and look in the right side of the program. The other media code they used/use on Aone discs is this one. When the burner tries to find the best writing strategy it is basing it on these media codes and not on the "brand" of the disc. Some media codes are better supported (not so likely to fail in the burn) by some burners compared to other burners.
  17. Aone can be two different media codes. Sure the old ones had the same one?
  18. Cheap discs are a bit of hit and miss. Try with some better quality media like Verbatim or another of the supported write speeds.
  19. Optiarcs usually book type DVD +R DL media automatically, so you shouldn't have to change any settings in ImgBurn.
  20. Optiarc was a joint venture between Sony + Nec. Is it the book type / bitsetting stuff you are trying to do?
  21. Look at the threads marked Results & Discussion in this forum - you should see if the MID is working with a specific burner or not based on the posted disc scan graphs. http://club.myce.com/f61/
  22. The MBIPG101-R10-65 Mid is a bit new and not all burner likes them, so they can be tricky. But if you burner struggles with true Verbatim discs, I would replace it. The cost of constant coaster should be quickly earned by a working burner.
  23. These interfaces are just the "talking" between burner and OS and if the data burns with errors, it's internal in the burner there is something not right, like the firmware is not very good supported for certain Media IDs.
  24. What brand and model of the burner is it that you have? If it can't burn MKM-001-00 (Verbatim) without issues, it's not a good burner in my book.
  25. IMHO pretty much as ASPI. If you have the OS you have - use the native SPTI.
