They are cheap now, i think the hdd ones use microdrive. (edit they are 1.8 inch hd,s) You got mini dvd, mini dvi (firewire) Go for the highest optical zoom over digital zoom everyday. Get one with auto focus and manual, a lot of sony ones neglected this. Lux lower better. Iso higher the better check CCD specs, see if you can take still images, get one with image stabiliser. Check to see if it does proper widescreen as some say they do but are cheating. Get one that is capable of stereo recording, you can get High def ones now not sure of specs or price on those. I need a new one as well as my old samsung is just too embarassing to take out now. I would check out the Jvc g series ones. http://www.jvc.co.uk/site/g_series/

I got this error yesterday for the 1st time with the same drive, there was another bit to the error, mind has gone blank what it said, i just put it down to the media and a fluke and gave my son the disc If it had of happened with the type of media your using i would have updated the firmware pronto. Edit actually it's not the same liteon drive the numbers just looked familar, ntos I got too many writers, keep a list in txt doc.

There is little benefit at those speeds, as mentioned do not get caught up in the numbers. They are not so relevant now, was in early stages of a dvd writer 1x 64 minutes 2x 32 minutes 4x 16minutes, however when they went to 8x in my usage, did not mean 8 minute burn, 16x def does not mean 4 minute burn. I just now stick to 8x burning or sometimes 6.

Sonys discs do seem to be cropping up on here a lot with same outcome. Binmen must hate sony.

Instead of trying to be clever why do you not just listen. The members of this forum and previous forum have seen this behaviour before, whereby someone comes along, says everything was fine now its gone belly up and it must be the programs fault. They try and help and you do nothing but disagree with the free advice given. If clone CD works then do them a favour and goto their forum, keep paying them money and whilst your at it do the people trying to help you on this forum the opposite and leave them alone.

I build all my computers, the only thing i did not build was the laptop I used to own. I have 2 of the Samsung syncmaster 940mw I bought them specifically for me and my son to use on xbox 360. They are a combination TV/Monitor though i will never use em for TV as analogue input and picture quality from UHF ant is or will be poor. Even scart input is poor as is the composite in. Where it stands out is in 720p/1080i, (component) 1080p when i buy either VGA or dvi output cable for the 360,s component is not 1080p compatible. Using VGA fro his PC is fine for bios, just dvi does not initialise in time for bios. Just with you having a bought a Samsung i am curious to see if it is a little niggle with Sammy or gfx card dependant or a mixture of both.

I take it you have no problem getting into bios at boot up whilst using DVI cable and your Samsung LCD.

I have samsung lcd for my 360,'s they also have dvi and vga for pc, whilst using dvi i cannot get into the bios of the computer i have it hooked up to, wondering if it is inherent with samsung or maybe gfx card dependant, i have no problem whilst using dsub (vga)

I never use mp think mine is either 9 or 10, not sure if this will fix the imapi or whatever handle it has, goto options plugin and untick nero fast cd burning. maybe untick windows cd burning on the drive as well If that does not work then remove plugin from media player plugin options goto copy music tab as well and untick copy cd when inserted or whatever it says. Also goto the devices tab and check properties on the dvdrw untick cd recording which is what i meant above by Windows cd burning. One of those surely has to work
