  1. why do you need to access it from linux your running XP. I presume the drive is installed to same computer running XP. Are the disc's you got branded or just silver tayio ? YOUR home dvd player was what i was referring to your Philip's, about converted divx, just wondering if all your other dvds play fine in Philip's player.
  2. I see Neighbours has not changed much.
  3. Thought your wife would have hidden the Eggnog It's ok suppose, not the worst software by far. AOL take that honour.
  4. check the hard drive for errors where the video files are stored on your computer, right click on the hard drive, choose properties, then tools, check now and tick top box only. Are they genuine taiyo yudens and not something like mirror platinum 8x with fake ty id. Sounds like ya home dvd player does not like them or is gradually becoming faulty, does it play something your wrote from genuine dvd files and not something you converted from divx, avi etc. Maybe your liteon is faulty, if your using latest firmware, try some different disc's, even if your using genuine Ty's , you may just have some faulty ones, Rarely happens but has to be considered a little.
  5. they should be same drives, same company, flasher will or should not let you proceed with wrong one.
  6. if E is the source of your image, then check the hard drive for errors , right click on drive in question, properties/ tools / check now and tick top box only. If E: is your DVD writer etc, ignore what i typed. Might be a good idea to check all hard drives you have, C and drive with page file on it will require a restart to check.
  7. The firmware for your drive is indeed very hard to find, i have asked cyberhome/cyberdrive for support on your behalf, do not hold your breath though, 171F is the latest I believe, i have asked a few people who have 150F if they can find it on their hard drive no response as of yet though, i do have 140F from i think dangerous brothers link ---FIRMWARE This is at your own risk and check to make sure i have not made a mistake, your drive is a Cyberdrive DX162D-A or a cyberhome version ? If so you should be good to go, dunno if 140F will fix the type of errors your getting, best off using some high quality media first to see if the errors vanish b4 updating with firmware i posted.
  8. you cannot force 2.4 your media does not do 2.4 get some certified verbs and you will be able to burn at 2.4 as long as your firmware allows it. at your own risk, omnipatcher maybe supports your drive and maybe can be manipulated to limit speed, though you could seriously damage your drive if you just press buttons for fun.....http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=97590
  9. no conversion is necessary to play on pc. try here http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=4;41 Does your dvd player not have option to play PAL, In UK, where we normally get the raw deal, all of my dvd players will play either PAL, NTSC, and most of my tv's will also allow USA NTSC and JAP NTSC.
  10. the writer does not support 2x on the discs you have and may not allow 2x on any discs you can get.
  11. Enjoy your day/night Happy Birthday
  12. check to see if there is a newer firmware for your dvd writer, try some different discs.
  13. I get that error sometimes on my liteon burning dvd-r not seen it happen with dual layer and not my verbs, i think its a random occurrence, i have tsstcorp drive in as well, mine is sd 163a though. Maybe just coincidence i suspect you will have same program on your computer as well. Your system Intel or amd the computer i use with samsung drive in is intel.
  14. 1 [iNFODISC-A10-01] not the best Media. 2 Your firmware is out of date Latest is here ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp28501-29000/SP28709.exe however please verify that you have HP or COMPAQ laptop dvd writer. 3 I would be stopping the use of Any dvd. If your confident the link i posted is for your version of dvd writer then, exit any programs, anydvd, disable any anti virus program you have running, anything else either exit or disable, do not have a disc in drive when you update it, and that tray is closed. Make sure there is no interruption to the firmware update process, like battery going flat, electricity supply going out etc. At your own risk
  15. xp is fine with memory over 1 gig adn 2 gig and should be ok with 3 gig, however you will only ever see upto 3+ gig if you install 4 gig, Vista does not or rather is no supposed to have this limitation nor the 64 bit version of XP http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community...win/pw0801.mspx (this says 4 gig limit) xp sets aside certain amounts to the pci bus system etc. 64 bit xp http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283247/
  16. what speed are you trying, also what interface IDE/USB etc ? Type of writer you have, brand and media code of disc's your trying ? Post a log of your attempts
  17. you don't use build mode on ISO images you just burn them, right click on it and choose burn with imgburn
  18. yep, you can hear the mechanism / laser grinding all the time. Think gt3 is ok though long time since i played that one.
  19. Is this something that runs under Linux, sounds like it is and uses symbolic links. I got a 9-in 1 xp that fits on CD and when you use imgburn to build etc, turns into 4 gig +. If you have ISO already you should be able to burn to CD
