  5. Media. Every other disc As already suggested keep your firmware up to date and get some better disc's If you have messed on with ImgBurns settings press the defaults button DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Access is denied check faq as well
  6. change your screen saver set it to 1 minute then see if it works open ImgBurn then close see what happens. If it still does not work have a read of this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;326719
  7. Just noticed you had lock ups and you said the only way you could shutdown was to hold power button down. This is a bad shutdown therefore you should run scandisk/chkdsk to fix any errors on hard drives caused by bad shutdown. If you using xp then download and run any of the 2 attachments and answer yes when it tells you that drive c: would need to be scheduled to scan at next restart. If you have the pagefile set to a different hard drive/partition you would also have to answer yes to that drive to check at next restart. If you are using any drive before running /save work etc as I set it to dismount drives auto when run. Use scan for file system errors only, this one is faster and should suffice however if you have a bit more time and you are not planning on using your computer for a few hours then use scan and recover bad sectors. (you would have to run the second if you wanted to thoroughly check your drives) Either way do not forget to say yes at start and anytime it asks you and remember those scans will not start until you reboot/restart file system errors only scan_for_file_system_errors_only.rar Bad sectors scan_for_bad_sectors.rar
  8. If you made the avi yourself then go back and check the bitrate and resolution, some divx players will only playe files if res is under a certain limit and do this for bitrate as well as if its too high your player will not be able to play them. You should also see if your player accepts anything encoded with quarter pixel (2 of mine do not though my players are 3 years old now) Get hold of something called Gspot and dump the avi into it it will tell you loads about the file your trying to play
  9. you cannot control a dvd like that without it being a vr recorder eg a home dvd recorder click help/about to see email addy to send to.
  10. press there to switch ouput to device
  11. SPTI is default. You should press the defaults button in ImgBurn. Check you machine for spyware/ viruses. Try stopping the service GEARAspiWDM.sys you can do this by right clicking my computer choose manage then services and applications / services. You will only know for sure if your writer is faulty after a clean install of your operating system with minimal software installed, like your motherboard chipset drivers/ gfx driver and then install ImgBurn if it still does it then it is hardware related and not driver corruption. IF you can get the writer working again change how you have the hard drives to increase performance. Have you operating system hard drive on IDE 0 as Master (this is same as you have it already) Connect the DVD reader you have to IDE 0 as Slave. Put your writer onto IDE 1 as Master (this is how you have it already) Put the other hard drive on IDE 1 as Slave Using 80 wire cables for both IDE cables.
  12. looks like you will have to try some better media, that only means verbatim
  13. LOL thought I had posted link to latest.
  14. how long do you wait and does the drawer close after ejecting btw your using dvd+ There is also a new firmware http://www.de.nec.de./software/2343_FW_ND-3550A_106win.zip The media you have is not that good as well. Also the slowest speed was 2.4 its rated speed. sorry ignore first question, if it is saying device not present then your drive does not like that media, get some verbatim dual layer and that should change Make sure to get the + dual layer and try to get the ones that only do 2.4x
  15. post a log log file can be found here C:\Documents and Settings\Ascii\Application Data\ImgBurn\Log Files\ unless you changed where ImgBurn saves log to
  16. If your trying to convert dvd to avi then No ImgBurn will not be of use to you. If you already have ISO of divx material then ImgBurn should work for you. Post a log Log can be found here C:\Documents and Settings\Ascii\Application Data\ImgBurn\Log Files\ replace ascii with your name (username) folder name
  17. Happy birthday where ever you are.
  18. Nope sorry you got that slightly wrong a couple of my dvd players will not downmix to stereo automatically unless specified in settings on dvd player. Especially the ones that allow 5.1 output from 6 rca connectors. To the original poster Try the original or another original dvd in your dvd player and see if you get sound. If still no sound check your connections and check which format is being output from dvd player.
  19. have you got downmix set to stereo in dvd player settings, so that 5.1 goes to 2 channel.
  20. Tried pot once and the beans started talking to me.
