does any of this apply to your pc Firmwareupdate ND-3500A - Important Information: [F/W revision Brands] 2.1B (WIN) - 03-Apr-2006 You will find information for firmwareupdate changes here or on our homepage`s FAQ: http://www.de.nec.de -> Support and Service -> Technical questions -> Optical storage -> DVD / DVD Writer This Update works only with NEC ND-3500A (retail & bulk) drives, not with OEM releases. OEM means part of a full PC package or external USB or FireWire variant of this burner. For OEM products contact directly your dealer, distributor or manufacturer of PC- or USB/ Firewire- package for service, support and firmwareupdates. You can only update from Firmwareversion 2.16, 2.18, 2.19 and 2.1A. You can verify your current firmware with NERO InfoTool: http://www.nero.com Pls note following instructions for update procedure: Connect drive to secondary IDE channel as Master Disconnect all slave hardware from IDE secondary Master Use standard UDMA-2 IDE cable Update in Windows "Safe Mode" Under Windows 2000 & XP login as administrator Update without DMA mode, under Windows XP & 2000 in the device manager - "IDE ATA/ ATAPI controllers", you can switch from DMA to PIO mode Disconnect all external USB/ FireWire devices. Deactivate virusscanners, active desktop programs and packetwriting agents Do not turn off power during the updating process. -

Happy Birthday Enjoy your day and put your stereo on full.

I thought you had said 2.3.1.0 did not do it Graph says otherwise I would just accept that the device buffer is dropping as most do when disc is maybe not as good as it should be, maybe the 1.15 firmware is not that good at 12x try 8x which is far better speed to burn at anyway. Try some other good quality discs maybe -R Or reinstall your operating system with the latest chipset drivers and anything your supposed to install. In the correct order as well. but just a minimal install to see if your CPU usage still remains that high

Progress for Verifying: Parsing File System
dontasciime replied to brit0n's topic in ImgBurn Suggestions
Did not think I would need a stop watch as I went off everything in log 2 minutes was parse time in all , way i typed did not demonstrate this 1.54 and 6 seconds read ahead and parse according to logs, so 2 minutes to parse and read ahead. eg log I 20:14:35 Device Ready! I 20:14:36 [5:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.14 (S:) (ATA) I 20:14:36 CDB: 46 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 0C 00 I 20:14:36 CDB Interpretation: Get Configuration I 20:14:36 BUFFER: 00 00 00 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 03 28 D 20:16:29 File System - File: AUTORUN.INF - LBA: 7312 - 7312 - Size: 110 bytes at 20:14.35 I was watching the screen point where it says parsing udf file... Then looked at log at D 20:16:35 __ParseFS - Found 6201 Files I 20:16:35 [5:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.14 (S:) (ATA) I 20:16:35 CDB: 25 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 I 20:16:35 CDB Interpretation: Read Capacity I 20:16:35 BUFFER: 00 03 AB 3F 00 00 08 00 I 20:16:35 [5:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.14 (S:) (ATA) I 20:16:35 CDB: 46 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 0C 00 I 20:16:35 CDB Interpretation: Get Configuration I 20:16:35 BUFFER: 00 00 00 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 03 28 I 20:16:35 [5:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.14 (S:) (ATA) I 20:16:35 CDB: AC 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 32 03 00 I 20:16:35 CDB Interpretation: Get Performance I 20:16:35 BUFFER: 00 00 00 54 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 05 7D A5 00 00 02 C1 00 00 16 0C 00 00 00 00 00 05 7D A5 00 00 02 C1 00 00 10 89 00 00 00 00 00 05 7D A5 00 00 02 C1 00 00 0B 06 00 00 00 00 00 05 7D A5 I 20:16:35 Operation Started! 2 minutes at which point it started to verify Dunno where i got 1:54 from, oh actually I see what I did D 20:16:29 File System - File: AUTORUN.INF - LBA: 7312 - 7312 - Size: 110 bytes D 20:16:35 __ParseFS - Found 6201 Files time difference between 20:16.29 and 20:16.35 6 seconds so anything previous to that was 1 minute 54 So i was looking at it saying parsing udf file system for 2 minutes before some action was visible again on screen So my wording was wrong at saying 6 secs to parse as that was in your words to show log list of file used etc. -

And I am sure that if you look at my log the same applies for an xp pro disc burnt across network, unless of course I would get different result if I had the ISO stored on a Usb 2 external Hd on the remote machine. Which I will try Later -
is it, i thought it was a 2x dual format burner That may be poor translation though, as it appears an asus laptop has this writer in and it states 8x and 2.4 on dl+ Then again back to it being 2x burner and no dual layer support Hate these burners for info http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/04/24/intel..._uk/page11.html

No you need to hit it with a hammer Then got get a cheaper one that plays backups. Or post some more info , like what the disc was, a log file of burn etc. So we can see what type of files you have/had It might be your sony will not play backups a lot of branded players will not, most of the newer branded will but older ones not so much unless you put them onto dvd+r set booktype to dvd-rom
