Are you in East or Western Canada? Have you burned a lot of DVD's? If you haven't done a lot, I would recommend burning DVD5's(SL discs) first, as they are considerably cheaper. As far as brands go, IMO Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim for DVD5's, and Verbatim or Ricohjpn(Fuji etc) made discs for DL's. If you have some Mem's left(& unopened), try returning them.
*edit* When using +r or +r dl media, setting the booktype to dvd-rom will help the compatability.

Welcome fellow Canuck! Got a little bad news for you, Memorex DL's are very very poor, and PS2's are some of the pickier players out there. Your best bet would definately be to get different blank media, as trying to get those Mem's to work will only result in frustration.

My local Costco had 200 printable TDK's (which is I believe what we're talking about) for $45CAD, but they were MIT. Seems like a lot of companies are switching to Taiwan made discs now, possibly due to volume demands, or just as likely profit margins.

Not as nice as the Verb 6X scan, but I like it. Decent verify rate.

Nec, Plextor & BenQ all make good burners IMO.

fooking dummys
I wonder how they explain the slivers?

Hey Kevdriver, how's the Honda? You'll like the Epson, but it looks like we should be ordering our ink from th UK, it's about an 1/8 our price there. Even with shipping it will be way cheaper. Heard about your contract woes on the news, hopefully you get a new one soon, no one likes a strike, except the media.

I personally just get Shrink to create an ISO, and burn it later at my convenience with ImgBurn.

No, I don't mind

I remember that thread, but it's hazy As a yout I saw one of these, I believe it was one of these, on the telly. They never aired in a theatre did they?

Fuck me that's a good price. Thanks LFC!

Whew, I'm glad cooler heads prevailed. I don't think Geeks in Guantanamo would have gone over well.

If I can save 36 minutes and get a good burn like that, no more 2.4X for me.

Might have to start growing mushrooms...

A damn good example of why Autoplay should be disabled on any PC running windoze.
I'll second that

And you guys feel that its important to image before burning as the best chances for sucess?
We are big supporters of ImgBurn for the quality of the burns, among many other things, and it burns ISO's, hence why we use them.
I also have siren jukebox 2.0. It says it can burn "date". Is everything but imaged data considered "data" for the purposes of burning?I have no idea at all what they mean by "date". What most people mean by "data" when talking burning is a disc with material on it only read by another computer, not for standalone dvd players, cd players, mp3's etc. Examples would be HDD backups, Excel files, etc.

Verbatim +DL scan.

MAXELL REP.
Any company that is producing our product has to comform to our standards.
A Maxell CMCMAGAE1. They obviously have very low standards.
-
You can find non-Verbatim but MCC made +DL's cheaper in Canada also, the trade being some companies don't offer as good a warranty as Verbatim. Some folks at another forum are complaining about Verbatims recent quality, but it may depend where you are in the world. Apparently part of Europe is now getting Verbs made in India, which have mixed reviews. Some love 'em, others hate 'em. Ultimately we just have to go with what we know works.
On another note, make sure you change the booktype to dvdrom on all +DL's you burn.
-
How cheap are you finding ink carts for LFC? The best I've found is $45 CAD for a set, not that cheap.
-
ImgBurn is being updated for new burners, media etc, the other is not, so it's your best bet for burning.
Your brothers computer will work for burning, it just won't be fast.

Here's a link to a good store (it is in Calgary, haven't been in Edmonton's), they carry Taiyo Yudens at a decent price, Memory Express. They also carry poor media, but if you stick to Taiyo or Verbatim you'll be off to a great start.
How Windows shows your disc as data/video shouldn't affect it's playability.
