  1. Future Shop has 100 disc spindles of Verbatim + or - 16X for $19.95C! Just make sure you pick out the CMC made ones and not the Prodisc made Verbatims. There are some MBIL made starting to show up also, apparently they are better than the Prodiscs, not as good as the CMC's. I'm going to have to stock up, bot a shit load when they were $30, but this is better than Christmas!
  2. I know there is a 20X BenQ coming out quick, although word on the street for it is Liteon rebadged. This model you mention I haven't heard of. In the past, BenQ's that were RAM ready had a Panasonic chipset I believe, and weren't widely appreciated.
  3. I've been changing ISP's searching for the holy grail, mediocre speed internet. Still looking.
  4. I donated to the fuckers also
  5. My 165X's will do an average job at 2.4X, but they seem to do not so well at anything faster than that, IF you can find media that it even can, as you say Corny. Pion 111 & LG 22N both will scan 93-96% at 6-8X, and as Verbatim rate's and guarantee's the MKM 001-00 at those speeds, they are the drives I use. Don't have the Plex 716A in the box right now (need a bigger case!).
  6. Like Kev say's, you can't beat Future Shops sale price. NCIX.com also has the odd sale, they're in Vancouver.
  7. The Plextor 716 did/does an excellent job with dual layer discs. The Pioneer 111 also does a fine job, as does the LG H22N. These are drives that I use with DL's. I don't particularily like the way Benq 1655/0's do DL's, but then again you can't easily buy them now anyway. If you are looking for an all around excellent drive, the Pioneer 111 might be for you. The LG is a favorite of mine, but it isn't a good reader. You may want to wait for the new Pioneers which are due out in January, with FINALLY a sata version following a few months later.
  8. I loved GT3, GT4 didn't have quite the same appeal, although game play had improved. Didn't like the way you had to progress through the game as much with 4 as 3.

  15. That's not a good sign, your drive could be getting ready to join the choir invisible. Try burning it slower instead of at max speed, try 8X, if that doesn't work, try 4X, but TYG03's don't usually work well at 4X. Let us know how it comes out.
  16. Too much information about the img is just an img of information about img's information img
  17. I'll second that, excellent games. Had one head to head battle game where you could chop the opponents head off with mucho blood gushing about, can't remember the name , but good times were had by all One of my fav's
  18. Some interesting info at the below link source http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CD
  19. I had great luck with Ricoh dyed +R DL's, but can't find them anymore. Here in Canada the informed shopper can get 20 Verb DL's for $30CAD, about $26US, which is only a buck fitty a piece. Have found Fuji DL's with Ritek dye for $1.33, but if you check the media section you'll see they aren't that sharp.
  20. Either way, we've got the year down pat
  21. He doesn't say whether he recorded them himself or not, but anyway Dire Straits Brothers in Arms(1985) was I believe the first cd released that was DDD ie digital recorded, mastered, and transfered to disc (I stand to be corrected on what each D stands for, but that's close). So the technology was in use then, what exactly they used though I can't say.
  22. No thanks, I'm not gay. Fook U
  23. Fook me, 20 Verb DL's are $30-35CAD here, I should be shipping them to you.
  24. How'd those velcro gloves you had custom made work with your favorite "pet" LFC?
