  1. I fail to see the problem. Purchasing a DVD grants the buyer a licence to view, use and abuse that DVD as they see fit as long as it doesn?t breach the copyright of the publisher. A policy called ?Fair Use? exists in many parts of the world including the USA. Basically, this policy allows the purchaser of a DVD to make a backup for personal use as long as the purchaser keeps the original. Germany does not have a fair use policy. Australia is in the process of passing this policy through parliment. Given that this is an international forum with contributors from many countries with different laws, I suggest your assumption may be a little premature. Log files produced by this program merely show what the user is burning, not the removal or bypassing of encrypted data. Nowhere in the ImgBurn logs or in this forum is there documentation or support for the decryption of a DVD. We are interested in helping people use this software for the purpose it was intended. The guide you refer to is just that. A guide.
  2. I?ve had a few problems installing v2.0 by itself. i.e. Not wanting to install at all (but that may have been a problem with w2k). Installing v2.0 over the top of v1.0/1.1 seems to work fine though.
  3. I?m gonna have to agree with the crowd here. dotNET hasn?t affected the performance of my PCs to the degree that it?s noticable. It?s also pretty much a requirement these days for connecting to various devices such as your PSP. If you?re a Windows user, you?ll have to install it sooner or later as more and more gadgets and applications are built around it.
  4. It?s Microsoft?s .NET framework. Damn near everything uses it these days. Hi Cynthia!
  5. It?s just one of those handy tools I found by accident which is used for synchronizing(sp?) drives or directories for backup purposes. It works fine with w2k (contrary to what Microslop claim). Download it without having to bother with the Microslag registration/validation/anal probe from MajorGeeks @ http://www.majorgeeks.com/SyncToy_for_Windows_XP_d4757.html You WILL need Microshafts? .NET framework installed for this tool to work. It has 5 different backup options (Google it if you need more info) and it seems to work just great. It seems to be a pretty decent program.
  6. Sounds a lot like a wombat really - eats roots and leaves.

  8. Err.... no. I never felt the need for water wings until my mid thirties. *cough* I?m not sure I want to pursue an answer to this.
  9. Snow? What?s that? 7:30am here and it?s already 30C outside.
  10. LOL!! That?s why you don?t do your own electrical work unless you?re qualified..
  11. Not a bad idea, mate. I know nothing about electrical thingies so I?ll ask. The surge protector thingy going on the dedicated circut thingy should be good though. The fuse thingies for the circut thingies are $80 each time they blow.
  12. I?ve finally managed to get a few things done around my house in the past week. Air conditioning installed yesterday (it?s now 25C in the ?puta room instead of the usual 45C+) and I got the mains power board upgraded last week with Clipsal safety switches which replaced the old fuse box. Next week a seperate circut goes on the mains board for my little computer room complete with an industrial surge protector. After that, the sparky (electrician) is going to install another 2 dozen (24) power outlets so I can plug in all my crap without burning down the house - (which is a good thing.) It?ll be nice not to have to underclock my PCs for 6 months of the year. It?ll also be nice not to have to replace cooked cards and harddrives every year. Since October I?ve cooked 4 harddrives, 1 SCSI card, 2 network cards, 1 video card, 1 PSU and 1 motherboard.
  13. http://gulfnews.com/nation/Society/10017764.html By Nasouh Nazzal, Staff Reporter Ras Al Khaimah: A shop selling sports goods was found plying equipment with a twist in recreational possibilities. A raid by officials from Ras Al Khaimah Economic Department found that the shop was renting sex dolls to its clients, mainly teenagers. Sources from the department said the shop was immediately shut down. Further investigations are on. Department inspectors seized a doll from the shop. The shop owner, during questioning, confessed to the officials that it was "good business". He said the dolls were rented for a day to clients, selected solely on the basis of recommendation from previous customers. He said his teenage clients were willing to pay a sizeable amount for the "facility". The sources said the shop also violated its commercial licence. Officials from the department also raided several shops in the area and seized illegal impotency drugs and creams. All the shops were issued spot fines ranging from Dh500 to Dh1,000. :&
  14. I?m surprised they had the balls to pull off such a stunt.
  15. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060206/od_uk_...HNlYwN5bmNhdA-- German fans taunt rivals with inflatable penises Mon Feb 6, 6:29 AM ET BERLIN (Reuters) - Hundreds of fans of German club Borussia Dortmund waved huge inflatable penises at local rivals Schalke 04 on Saturday above an abusive message for their hosts. The pink blow-ups and a huge banner in Dortmund's yellow and black suggesting Schalke fans should procreate with themselves added a splash of colour to the dour 0-0 draw between the two Bundesliga sides. Schalke's stadium in the Ruhr Valley city of Gelsenkirchen will host four group matches and a quarter-final at the World Cup in Germany in June and July.
  16. <curiosity mode on> Are you doing a full format with your RW media before burning or a quick format? <curiosity mode off> Can?t see it making much difference if burnproof is enabled (which it is by default). If your drive is starved of data because of a network bottleneck, it *should* sit quietly and not do anything until it has something to burn. Happens to me all the time without any problems.
  17. I?m finding linux has a lot more things to explore than windoze, particularly when there?s something like 700 or so different versions to play with. It?s very much like learning how to use a computer again. In a sense, being a student. Nope. I think you mean Knoppix. It lets you play around with linux without actually installing it. http://www.knoppix.org/. NASLite is a bootable floppy disk that sets up available harddrives as SMB shares. Its total size is 1.8MB. A great piece of programming. EDIT: There?s a review on NASLite @ http://www.michaelhorowitz.com/naslite.html
  18. After fighting with my Netgear SC101 I went looking for alternatives to this overpriced piece of junk and found what seems to be ideal. Basically, it?s a linux package that runs entirely from a single floppy disk and turns any PC into a file server using SMB shares. (SMB explanation here) The package is called NASLite and comes in a variety of flavours. I?m using the no-frills (free) floppy disk version which doesn?t support RAID drives, SATA drives or gigabit. The full commercial version (about $25) comes on CD and supports all sorts of stuff - even booting from a flash drive. The basic idea is to use an old machine (like a P1/166 or P2/300 or something) as a place to store files. EG. Instead of throwing the old clunker into the bin, pull all the obsolete cards and CD-ROMs out of it and throw in 4 large harddrives of any size and map them as normal Windows shared drives ready for use. All it costs is the price of your harddrives. If you?re low on HD space and have a crappy old machine sitting around doing nothing, give it a go. If anyone wants to try this and isn?t sure what to do, I?d be happy to help.
  19. Crocodiles and Waterwings? LOL! Any chance of you writing a song by that name? It?s kinda catchy.
  20. I never once mistreated you I never shared you with my friends My momma says you?re dangerous And so, our tryst must end Our bond could not be broken And we?d party until dawn Cold nights spent alone together Before passing out on the lawn I saw it clearly, to this day The police would later say My pickup in a thousand pieces Life shouldn?t be this way So, I got community service ?200 hours?, they said It could have been worse, I suppose I could have wound up dead Now that I?m in detox I?m shaking head to toe Your absence like an open wound It?ll be hard, I know You?re all I ever think about The last 30 days - not kind Just one more chance to be with you I got whiskey on my mind ?
