  1. I don't know if there would be a problem. I just mentioned it as a possible problem. One thing for sure, as I mentioned before, is that by needing to fill the second layer the burn time would just about double. I do, however bow to your knowledge in these matters since you would know more than I would because you are testing ImgBurn on a regular basis.
  2. Good luck. Be sure to let us know how things go.
  3. I'm not sure he wouldn't have a problem. From what I have read (if I remember it correctly) layer 1 is burned before layer 0 and after the image is finished burning the remainder of layer 0 is finalized. If the single layer image is burned to layer 1 then the entire layer 0 must still be finalized. That would take double the amount of time it would have taken to burn a DVD5 and he still might have problems at the layer switch.
  4. Considering that the Ritek DL discs are much more expensive then DVD5 discs why not just take or send the discs back to where you bought them and use the refund to purchase some DVD5's. If that's not an option get in touch with the local office for Ritek/Ridata and see if they will refund your money. About a year and a half ago I had purchased a few spindles of Maxell DVD-R discs. I had problems with the first 5 or 6 I burned. The company allowed me to return all of the spindles, including the open one, for a full refund.
  5. You make a good point and since I'm not in that type of business I can't dispute what you've said. I guess we'll never really know.
  6. Mar 21, 6:45 PM (ET) By ALLISON LINN SEATTLE (AP) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) will delay the consumer release of its new Windows operating system until January 2007, missing the holiday sales season and throwing some PC makers and retailers into turmoil. The delay in Windows Vista - caused by Microsoft needing more time to enhance security and other functions - will come as a blow to Microsoft partners who were looking forward to a new operating system to boost holiday sales. Windows Vista is Microsoft's first major update to the company's flagship operating system since Windows XP was released in late 2001. "It's not the optimal situation, to be launching the next-generation version of Windows right after the big holdiay sales season," said analyst Joe Wilcox with Jupiter Research. The company will release some versions of the new operating system for big businesses by November as planned, but the consumer version will be postponed until January, said Jim Allchin, co-president of the Microsoft division that includes Windows. He said the decision to delay the release came after Microsoft realized that Vista would be completed several weeks later than originally planned, largely because of efforts to improve security in the new system. That delay was enough for some retailers, computer makers and other corporate partners to say they would have trouble preparing for the holiday season. "The fact is that we wanted everybody in the industry to be ready for this," Allchin told journalists and analysts in a conference call.
  7. I remember my first time on the previous place. I had a problem which I posted about. All of the suggestions were to use different media (I was using Maxell DVD-R which was made by Ritek). I had always believed in the Maxell brand since I had used cassettes, 3.5 and 5.25 disks, video tape and zip disks and never had problems. I had no idea at the time if the suggestions were right or wrong but I changed brands to Verbatim and the problems went away. From that point on I have only used Verbs.
  8. Volvo, I just wanted to let you know that what I had posted didn't have anything to do with you. Please see PM.
  9. Good luck to you. If you are successful let us know what steps you took. It might help someone else out.
  10. That may not stop the one's that believe it's not the media. According to them it has to be anything and everything except the discs. I guess they think all of us has stock in Verbatim and TY so that's why we suggest they purchase those discs.
  11. Are you saying that the only speeding you do is when running to the bathroom?
  12. If the items weren't billed or paid for yet it would be easy to do. The same thing if they were on consignment. This was an isolated happening and not country wide. It had nothing to do with trying to end any war, it was simply a "fuck you for laughing at a tragedy" thing. To be honest I believe that the driver didn't go far enough. If I had run into that situation I would probably be in prison right now!
  13. That sounds like a good idea to me.
  14. Hell, I wouldn't use it for anything at all!
  15. It wasn't mentioned. Maybe there's something on the Michelin site. But Spinner, nobody here would think about speeding...would they?
  16. I would try using Nero to copy the files and then re-burn them to a new disc. If you're getting errors on that disc then I don't think there's anything you can do.
  17. I haven't heard of any pricing structure. I guess they're waiting until the tires are going to be made available.
