Are you saying that if I burn both an 8x and 16x disc at 4x the scan will be better on the 8x disc? If so doesn't that go against the premise that a with slower burn you have less of a chance of problems arising with the burn?
-
If I only burn DVD5 discs at 4x is there any compelling reason to purchase 16x media as opposed to 8x? I am talking about Verbatim discs.
-
The problem is that people, like us, who know about what's good and bad are in the minority. Most people who purchase the discs are simply looking for a low price. When they see a spindle of 100 discs for $10.00 with a rebate of $5.00 they don't stop to think that there is no way they are getting a decent product. The companies that make this crap are just pandering to the people that put price above anything else. [soapbox Mode Off]

Have you been able to format the RW discs before? What media brands have you tried? The drive is an older model. Have you checked to make sure you have the latest firmware?
-
Thanks Corny. WOW, talk about being bad. It's a good thing their DVD+R DL discs aren't like that.
-
No No No MJ, db last night............. I stand corrected...or, maybe it's both.
-
Your log file shows you're using Ritek. The ONLY DL media you should use is Verbatim! Make sure you use the Verbatim DVD+R DL and not the DVD-R DL. I say that because their DVD-R DL discs are too new and I haven't heard anything about them.

That sometimes happens to me as well. I can keep it from happening by right-clicking on the disc icon and choosing "Eject" from the menu. This only works if the original disc is still in the drive. If the original disc has already been removed then just put a different disc in that drive and once it shows up use the right-click method that I mentioned. For some reason If you put in the original disc back in and eject it using the right-click method or even simply removing the disc by re-opening the drive, the computer will still think the original disc is in the drive. That's why you must use a different disc.

Yer gonna half to speak up, I can't hear you... I did not edit the post so it's either your memory or...

On my system the file is in C:\Windows\System32\ The name of the file is Access and it is a .cpl file. I hope this helps.

You've got that right. Hell, some of the CMC crap isn't readable right after the burn.

I haven't actually bothered with DL yet but you're right. Verbatim are widely regarded as the best DL discs currently available. At the moment, as far as DL goes, there's Verbatim and then there's all the rest. Still too dear though for a cheapskate like me. Nemesis While they are still expensive compared to DVD5 discs, they have come down quite a bit. I can get Verbatim DL discs for $2.45 each (retail packaging). Considering a year or so ago they were around $8.00 each that is quite a price drop.

If you made an ISO image from the disc it would contain ALL of the files that were on the disc and not just the VOB files. If that's important to you then ISO is the way to go. Cheers for that. I therefore presume if quality is an issue and I dont want the titles & extra junk its best to stick with the ISO? On a completely different note, how do you get the picture under your name, I have uploaded one but it shows on the right hand side of the profile and not the left? thanks If you don't want the "extra junk" then don't use an ISO or use DVDShrink to open the ISO and write the information to your disc. To edit your avatar go click on "My Controls" near the top of the page, once you're in the control panel click on "Edit Avatar Settings" on the left side of the screen about half-way down the page. After you get to the next screen just follow the instructions.

Because of their rootkit crap Sony can kiss my ass. They will never get my money again.
-
My opinion is you should stick with either Verbatim or TY media. For DL media nothing beats Verbatim.

Thanks for the explaination LUK. This is the third time I have done that. The problem is that I open up all of the new posts in different tabs in my browser and I sometimes forget which forum I'm in when I post something. I will have to re-double my effort to make sure that doesn't happen again. Polo, I can now fully understand what you are talking about. I'm sorry about that happening.

As long as you're not trying to be "a pain in the ass" I won't take it that way. Since I am the one that posted the joke I am assuming you're talking to me. To answer you; it doesn't have anything to do with IMGburn support. The chat forum supposedly is for anything that doesn't fit into the other forums. I have read many varied things in chat that have nothing to do with IMGburn support so I don't understand the reason for your question. If your question has to do with the joke having it's own topic instead of being in the "Quick Jokes" topic then I understand. I have just found out that it should not have it's own topic. I am sorry for that and I will be happy to make sure any future posts of that nature go in the "Quick Jokes" topic. If that isn't it then please explain.

I just happened upon a funny site. Here are two samples of what's there; Spam University The 3rd Annual Nigerian EMail Conference

A man and his wife are awakened, at 3 o'clock in the morning by a loud pounding on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. "Not a chance," says the husband, "it is 3 o'clock in the morning! He slams the door and returns to bed. "Who was that?" asked his wife. "Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers. "Did you help him?" she asks. "No, I did not, it is 3 o'clock in the morning and it is pouring out there!" "Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you remember, about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!" The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain. He calls out into the dark, "Hello, are you still there?" "Yes" comes back the answer. "Do you still need a push?", calls out the husband. "Yes, please!" comes the reply from the dark. "Where are you?" asks the husband. "Over here on the swing!" replies the drunk.

Thanks Kev. Maybe there should be a specific area on this board for posting about software. What do you think LUK?

If you now use Belarc Advisor you might like this.
