  1. How Budweiser handled those who laughed at those who died on the 11th of September, 2001...Thought you might like to know what happened in a little town north of Bakersfield, California. After you finish reading this, please forward this story on to others so that our nation and people around the world will know about those who laughed when they found out about the tragic events in New York, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon. On September 11th, a Budweiser employee was making a delivery to a convenience store in a California town named McFarland. He knew of the tragedy that had occurred in New York when he entered the business to find the two Arabs, who owned the business, whooping and hollering to show their approval and support of this treacherous attack The Budweiser employee went to his truck, called his boss and told him of the very upsetting event! He didn't feel he could be in that store with those horrible people. His boss asked him, "Do you think you could go in there long enough to pull every Budweiser product and item our beverage company sells there? We'll never deliver to them again." The employee walked in, proceeded to pull every single product his beverage company provided and left with an incredible grin on his face. He told them never to bother to call for a delivery again. Budweiser happens to be the beer of choice for that community. Just letting you know how Kern County handled this situation. And Now The Rest Of The Story: It seems that the Bud driver and the Pepsi man are neighbors. Bud called Pepsi and told him. Pepsi called his boss who told him to pull all Pepsi products as well!!! That would include Frito Lay, etc. Furthermore, word spread and all vendors followed suit! At last report, the store was closed indefinitely. Good old American Passive-Aggressive A$$ Whoopin!
  2. Thought you might like to see the next generation of tires. They had a pair at the Philadelphia Car show. These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon. The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires This is what great R&D will do and just think of the impact on existing technology: ... no more air valves ... no more air compressors at gas stations ... no more repair kits LOTS OF PHOTO'S BELOW SO SCAN DOWN & SEE
  3. Here is part of your problem, the discs your using are nothing short of crap. Change your media, and see if that helps. Readability on the above media is a challenge even for the best drives. But we know that readability is unlikely to be the problem, don't we, since the toshiba can read a dvd+RW produced on another computer, using the same brand of media (that was the point of the NEC experiment)? And analagously, we know that writeability is unlikley to be the problem either, since dvd+RW's produced on the hp can consistently be played on the same computer, and also on stand-alone dvd players. All of which suggests to me that media quality is not in play here. The laser strength of the HP burner might not be optmised for the media you are using. That could be causing the problem. Media quality always has to be considered. As a further test why don't you purchase a Verbatim DVD+RW and run the same tests? Even if the problem turns out not to be media related you have a decent RW disc to use and if your testing show that the media is the source of the problem you've solved it. Have you burned any DVD+R media on the HP? If so does it play OK on the Toshiba?
  4. I don't want to sound harsh but don't ask for our help if you don't want to consider our suggestions. Believe whatever you want but the fact is that ANY DL MEDIA EXCEPT FOR VERBATIM DVD+R DL IS NOTHING BUT JUNK! ImgBurn is not the problem.

Next time I speak to him I'll ask him wich of his computers he tried it on.
  6. Because Allawi is less likely to fire buckshot in your face?
  7. It would be much easier to to say what is good about him...NOTHING
  8. It seems for some reason that the Toshiba doesn't like the RW disc BookType set to DVD-ROM. I'm not sure why the HP burner is setting the BookType to that but maybe someone here can tell you how to make a change to the drive so it allows the disc to remain a DVD+RW.
  9. Polopony: I couldn't have said it better!
  10. I'm 52 years old, and I have 4 fingers left over. You've got that right! I've got two left...and I'm 58.
  11. Hell, that course only take a few minutes in France.
  12. RUMSFELD IS A F/N ASSHOLE I cannot believe some of the shit he just said. Here are a few tidbits culled from Yahoo! News; "Rumsfeld said "the terrorists" were trying to fuel sectarian tensions to spark a civil war, but they must be "watching with fear" the progress in the country over the past three years." "Rumsfeld's view was that the Iraqi insurgency was failing. "The terrorists seem to recognize that they are losing in Iraq. I believe that history will show that to be the case,"" On the other hand: "In London, former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said on Sunday that Iraq is in a civil war and is nearing the point of no return when the sectarian violence will spill over throughout the Middle East. Why do I believe Allawi and not Rumsfeld?

I just checked with my friend who told me about the program. He ran the program without an internet connection and the only thing that happened was that he got a prompt asking if he wanted to check for an update. He answered no and the program continued and worked without any problems. This is strange.
  14. I haven't had spam in my three "main" accounts in over 1 1/2 years. About four years ago I setup a phony account on Hotmail. I NEVER used it nor gave the address to anyone. Within a couple of months I was getting spam in it. Makes you think...
  15. That is why we need to constantly harp about this junk whenever we can. We also need to support the two or three companies that DO put out quality media.
  16. I wonder how many of his buddies in the House and Senate are going against him simply because they are up for re-election this year?

Good job Shamus. I agree with you about not trusting it. I do have a few questions though. The link that you posted, that the software is trying to go to, seems to be a dead link. If the software is working even with the link being dead maybe all you have to do is change the link to someplace else. I have successfully done that with other software in the past. Have you tried that? Ny second question is that the link, even though it's dead, appears to be an update link. This could mean the software is trying to see if there are any updates available. Is there a way to turn this feature off?
  18. I didn't know it was an option.
  19. That's nice of you to absolve him of his sins.

I was told about this software by a friend of mine. I haven't tried it yet but it looks interesting...and it's freeware. THE FOLLOWING IS FROM THE DOWNLOAD SITE "SUPER ? If you need a simple, yet very efficient tool to convert (encode) or play any Multimedia file, without reading manuals or spending long hours training, then SUPER ? is all you need. It is a Multimedia Encoder and a Multimedia Player, easy-to-use with 1 simple click." To read more about and get the software go here. If you want to read some comments on SUPER go here and scroll down the page. Not all of the comments are positive but most of them are.
  21. I'm not sure if you're in the U.S.A. but if you are NewEgg has them. Go here.
  22. Thanks. Now I understand what you are saying. Have you done any comparing of scans from 8x Verbs burned at 4x and 16x Verbs burned at 8x? If so is there a real difference in the scan quality?
