  1. I can't say you would be compromising your security but you would be getting less features. What you should do is compare what the free version of a product gives you to what the paid product gives. I know that at one time, and maybe still, you could compare the free ZoneAlarm to the paid ZoneAlarm Pro right at their web site. You might find that to be the case with other products as well.

    James Brown

With age comes wisdom, young grasshopper. I guess you could say that at the ImgBurn forum you have the "wisdom of the ages". Or, maybe it is the "wisdom of the aged".
  3. I've only been using 8x discs in the -R format and in the 100 disc cake box.. Maybe that's why I haven't run into the Prodisc ones yet.
  4. Hi Senraeth: Welcome to ImgBurn. Corny is right-on about the CMC media. They are pure junk. Get yourself some Verbatim discs. For the single-layer discs you can use either +R or -R and for the dual-layer make sure you get the +DL.
  5. I've just checked all of my cake boxes and they are all a Times New Roman font. True to what you said these discs are MCC (I'm sure you didn't mean CMC ). I have no cake boxes that have an Ariel font.
  6. I was told today, by a contact I have in Verbatim Tech Support, that they are gearing up to start selling a 50-pack spindle of their +R DL discs here in the USA. It will have the same media code as their other +DL's have. He wasn't sure but the 50-pack may already be available in some areas. I checked with him because someone here mentioned about a 50-pack costing $145.00. I think that person was in Canada. Considering that I have gotten 20-packs from NewEgg for $34.00 I would imagine a 50-pack would bring the cost-per-disc down even further.
  7. Just because you have been lucky doesn't mean that the discs are any good. If you do a search here you will find many instances of people having problems with DL media that were corrected by switching to Verbatim discs. There still could be a problem with your drive but since it did start writing to Layer 1 I believe it is the media. You could try getting another drive but I think the best way to go is to eliminate the media as being the problem. If you continue to have the problem then the drive may be the cause. There is a firmware update for your drive. It is version 1.0e and it can be downloaded here. You may want to see if that corrects your problem if switching to the Verbatims doesn't.
  8. What about gay girls???
  9. Did the tray eject right away and then you had to wait for it to become ready or did it take that long for the tray to eject. From the log file it appears that the tray ejected as it was supposed to do but it took to long for it to become ready after it closed. One other thing. And this could be your problem. Do not use anything but Verbatim +DL discs. Verbatim is the only +DL disc that is any good. I'm guessing that the tray ejected correctly as the log shows but when the tray went back in, the drive had a problem reading the disc.
  10. I'm glad that it's OK but it still shouldn't have taken as long as it did. If it happens again please post the log here and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
  11. You are correct. The drive is supposed to open and then close prior to the verification of the disc. What other programs do you have running while you're using ImgBurn? It sounds like something else is keeping the drive from working. Also please post the log here.
  12. Hi Snipe. Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. Does the tray cycle? If so please tell us what you mean by stalling.
  13. I have been using both without any problems. They appear to be exactly the same. When I got my first spindle I checked the media code and it was the same as the media in the jewel cases. I haven't checked it since so I don't know if it has changed but, as I said before, I've had no problems. Btw...make sure you buy the +DL and not the -DL discs.
  14. Happy Birthday Shamus.
  15. We can't discuss the copying/ripping of movies here, but you should not be using anything other than Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. No matter what you are using it for, Verbatim is the ONLY good DL media.
  16. Here in Canada a 50-pack of Verbatim DL is around $145 including taxes. These Memorex discs are on sale for $60... and I've successfully burned and verified at least 35 of them with zero problems. That is quite expensive. I can buy a 20-pack for under $35.00. We don't have the 50-pack here yet. The question you have to ask yourself is, is it worth saving the money if the discs won't hold up. All of the testing that has been done here point to the Verbatim DVD+R DL discs as being the only reliable DL media. I personally have used well over 500 Verbatim +DL discs and have not had any problems with them.
  17. Welcome to the ImgBurn forum urbanriot. For your DL burning the ONLY media you should be using is Verbatim DVD+R DL. Try a few and see if the problems go away.

    James Brown

I remember James Brown when he was know as "James Brown with the Famous Flames". I remember his hit record "Please, Please, Please" which came out in 1956. If I remember correctly it was his first hit record. I will miss him.
  19. Same here, I'm glad it's back. And to everyone here...
  20. Welcome to the forum Adam. Like Kev said, if you have any problems or questions we'll try to help you.
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEN!
  22. There can NEVER be too much garlic.
  23. I don't think I'll have another chance to come here today so I want to wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas.
  24. Don't waste your breath Corny. I already told him that and his response was; If he feels that telling him the probable cause of his problem "doesn't help much" then I doubt repeating it will help.
