  1. Since they are still a new fad I think you'll look at maybe 18 months to 2 years for the current style to seriously drop in cost. They'll get cheaper as the revisions to the process start to come in from the manufacturers, but they will control the speed of the changes to keep the price up. DL discs are still holding at a cost that doesn't make sense, yet the burners that were so expensive a couple years ago are now unbelievably cheap. New technology is now in the works that uses a nuclear core to burn data to a disc at the molecular level. It's no more dangerous than a smoke detector, but it enables storage discs, the size of a cd, to hold damned near a 1/2 terrabyte of info. I think the whole Blu-ray thing is going to seriously be just a hiccup when compared to the way storage is going to be changed within the next 4-8 years. IT info is doubling somewhere near the rate of 100% every couple years currently and by 2015 it will be doubling every 5-6 months and then every 8 weeks by 2025 if I remember the Cisco projections correctly.
  2. Media and the consumer are pretty much at a standstill right now. Blu-ray and Hi-def are here, but why would anyone exchange their $70.00 DVD player for a $700.00 Blu-ray or $350.00 Hi-Def setup? Right now, Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment manufacturers aren't going to convince anyone that either of these is the way to go for the forseeable future. The economy is at a standstill in most countries, energy, food costs and just about everything else is going up, which has a tremendous effect on disposable income and consumer spending is not increasing except in essential purchases. A quick Google for Blu-ray show that it has come down quickly within the last few months, but still has a long way to go before it, or any other format, replaces the DVD as the consumers choice of media. Choices
  3. That's all quite well for now, but what about a year or two into the future? Look around the site for graphs of some year old cheap CMC media and see how well it holds up. Better to spend another 30% on a disc manufactured to last .
  4. zomorf As volvo and chewy tried to say nicely...your disc choice is crap...get Verbatim DVD+R DL discs and you should be in business.

  7. Damned CMC
  8. Noswal; 1. Hi and welcome to the forum 2. ImgBurn is a burning program only, it will not copy copyrighted discs. 3. Post the log from IB. 4. What media are you using?
  9. Very crappy media , use Verbatim DataLifePlus or Taiyo Yuden media for the best sustainable results.
  10. Right chewy...but...confession is good for the soul....
  11. Right on Donta! The 1100 is a single layer burner...period. I have used one since they were new on the market and still have it in use now. I haven't found a firmware yet that can change it to DL status. It's in my server, an old 330 mhz machine, and it works great still.
  12. That's what the forum is all about...
  13. And waste all those perfectly fine targets? Shame...shame...shame.

  15. From one of the greatest of all time movies: "My advice to you is to start drinking heavily." "Better listen to him, Flounder. He's pre-med." and my most favorite... "Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son."
  16. from ImgBurn please...
  17. Cath...
  18. As a suggestion... Since you make the .ISO's yourself, shut of McAfee and the rest of the stuff running for your protection. When I burn I shut off the cable modem, use EndItAll and shut off all other programs that I may have running in some form or another. Burns do not take up a very large amount of time and the object is to get as good of a burn as you can...generally speaking.
  19. Ritek was once a great media... now it sux like the rest of the cheapo crap out there. That's why we recommend Verbs or TY's exclusively.
  20. Nah, you just need to be an old, old beta tester to get the joke
  21. Can't help with WMP, you'll need to go to their support area for help with that. Since the game locks out the drive, reboot after you play it...simple enough solution.
  22. No. Regards OOPS...missed that for some reason...
  23. Craigw; I couldn't find a firmware update for your drive, maybe someone else around here can. Your choice of disc's is bad. Ritek made an excellent product a couple years back but they have been producing garbage for wuite a while now. Is your burner on a USB connection?
