  1. Yes, those are dual-layer formats. You don't need to change anything in ImgBurn for burning dual-layer media. As for the price, click the "get dual-layer media" link I've posted above and you'll have a list of online stores where you can find those Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL blanks Yes, you should select the MDS file as the image to burn. Now, if you want to learn everything about ImgBurn, the Guides section has all the information
  2. It wasn't because you've manually set the layerbreak (look in your log above and you'll see that it was being set at the right place). Maybe the 2 DVDs that failed before were slightly lower quality and didn't work on your burner? This could happen, especially if they're the Made in India ones
  3. If the image is from a DVD-Video you'll need to re-author the disc in order to split it in two parts. You can use DVD Shrink or VobBlanker for doing that. Alternatively, if you want to burn it as it is then you should get dual-layer media, provided that you have a dual-layer capable burner (in ImgBurn right-click on the burner's name and choose Capabilities). If it isn't DVD-Video then it's very unlikely that you'll be able to split it.
  4. ImgBurn finalises the discs it burns and, because of that, you can add files to them with other programs. If you were using ImgBurn to create a bootable CD you could've also added your file.
  5. M3U files are playlist files. You can add M3U playlists in the Create CUE File dialog.
  6. Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. Also check for a firmware update with the laptop's manufacturer.
  7. Where are your Verbatim blanks made? Singapore? India? It's printed in the box/spindle/packaging. If you've cleaned the drive's lens and it still can't burn the best dual-layer media then your burner is defective or something. You could ask HP for a firmware update (it really needs one) or you could get a decent burner like a Pioneer or Optiarc for little more than a 20-disc Verbatim spindle
  8. You should've inserted the TXT file before creating the bootable disc, assuming that it was done with ImgBurn anyway. The screenshot you've posted isn't ImgBurn
  9. Yes, even the 8x Verbatim blanks are better than any other dual-layer brand/dye. You might also want to get a lens cleaning disc kit to use on your burner, that way you'll make sure it's the best possible situation for burning
  10. What does it say in the Log window just before "No Devices Detected"? Something about maximum number of secrets?
  11. Those are the 8x Verbatim blanks, they use MKM-003-00 dye and aren't as compatible with older burners as the 2.4x ones. The 8x ones you've posted are ~ $2.40 each disc: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817130954 (~ $2.33 each disc) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817131163 (~ $1.70 each disc) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817130008 (~ $1.30 each disc)
  12. First of all please update ImgBurn Sounds like your drive or the USB interface is getting stuck. Does it happen when you open ImgBurn with the disc already in the drive or when you insert the disc with ImgBurn already open? By the way, you should get better burns if you burn at 8x or 12x

  14. The burn process relies on the burner/firmware/media combination: since your burner has the latest firmware and you don't want to try with better media, what's left to try? It doesn't take a to find out... Or you could buy 3-5 2.4x Verbatims for testing
  15. Your drive doesn't like the crap media you're throwing at it. Try the other available speeds, and, when they don't work, get Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) blanks.
  16. For a few years computers are coming with DVD burners, which are quite cheap these days (slim burners for laptops aren't very cheap though).
  17. That's the thing: you should not need to decompress with UPX in the first place. Windows by itself has no problems with UPX, but many antivirus/antispyware/antimalware/firewall solutions don't like UPX and mistake it for a harmful program. The fact that you could run ImgBurn in safe mode further supports this, since safe mode only loads the barely minimum to run Windows.
  18. If you can transfer the VIDEO_TS folder (created by your slideshow program) to another computer then you can run ImgBurn there and burn the DVD
  19. That's a CD burner and DVD reader, also known as combo drive. It can't burn DVDs, only CDs.
  20. In that case, it's far easier to get the Verbatim blanks, don't you think?
  21. Please turn off your caps lock. As for the "unable to recover TOC" error it sounds like you don't have a DVD burner, which is what you need in order to burn DVDs. Can you post ImgBurn's log? Look the program's Help menu.

  23. Yeah, well, there's no magic to make it work
  24. 2x isn't an available speed, so the burn was being done at 4x anyway. Have you tried 6x or 8x? Also make sure Verify is enabled.
