You extracted the boot image from which disc? XP Pro? I'm asking because XP Pro's boot image only boot a XP install CD, nothing else. How is the CTUpdate thing supposed to work? You boot in DOS mode and run it? Or something else?
-
That amount of data would fit a common (single-layer) DVD-R/DVD+R just fine. May I ask why are you trying to burn it to dual-layer media? By the way, this dual-layer media you have is low quality so that's why you're getting that error. I tried to find a firmware update for your burner but HP's site thinks I wanted drivers for the HP Deskjet 630 printer
-
It means the drive wasn't able to burn that disc, and usually that happens due to low quality media. Can you post the whole log of that burn?
-
Yes, and the ones Made in India are inferior quality compared to the ones Made in Singapore.
-
OPC is automatically performed by the burner, and that setting in ImgBurn now defaults to disabled because some burners don't like it. It doesn't affect the burning quality, since that's dependant on the burner/firmware/media combo.
-
Sorry, that's not supported by ImgBurn's Build mode at the moment
-
Follow this guide and, after step 4, look at the File Sys field: if the image is bootable it'll say ISO9660 (Bootable) in this field.
-
Go to Tools/Settings/Write tab, untick 'Perform OPC Before Write' and click OK. Also try burning at 8x or 12x.
-
All the options related to that are in Tools/Settings/Registry tab

Only Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore blanks give consistently good results on most burners. The Verbatim 8x MKM-003-00 blanks seems to burn fine on newer burners. Avoid the ones Made in India. Every other dual-layer brand, regardless of the dye used to make the disc, is hit or miss. Have you checked if you have the latest firmware available on your burner?

Please post the log of that failed burn (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn Logs).

old media burned at 8x when slower speed selected
mmalves replied to Downdude's topic in ImgBurn Support
Apparently SB01 and SB04 both don't have a write strategy for those Media IDs. It's probably using a default generic strategy. SB01: DVD+R supported media types: 74 ------------------------------------------ (...) RICOHJPN R02 12x,8x,6x,4x RICOHJPN R03 18x,16x,12x,8x,6x,4x RICOHJPN R03 20x,18x,16x,12x,8x,6x,4x (...) SB04: DVD+R supported media types: 75 ------------------------------------------ (...) RICOHJPN R02 12x,8x,6x,4x RICOHJPN R03 18x,16x,12x,8x,6x,4x RICOHJPN R03 20x,18x,16x,12x,8x,6x,4x (...) -
old media burned at 8x when slower speed selected
mmalves replied to Downdude's topic in ImgBurn Support
ImgBurn sends the right command for the burn speed you've selected, but it's up to the drive and its firmware to obey that command or not. There's firmware SB04 available for your burner (which currentrly uses SB01), so remove any disc from the drive, close the tray and upgrade your firmware. -
You're welcome Enjoy watching Lost in high definition

That media you used is garbage so, even though it burned and verified OK for now, the data may become unreadable after some time. If the data on those discs is important to you, burn another copy of those discs on Verbatim blanks, as they keep their quality over time
-
The latest firmware available for your burner is TS12, so please download it and apply. Remember to remove any disc from the burner and close the tray before applying the firmware. Also burn at 8x or 12x for best results.

[Layer Break]: Possibly the stupidest question ever
mmalves replied to loleitors's topic in ImgBurn Support
Your problem is very likely to be completely unrelated to the layer break. What exactly is the problem you're having? Also please post the log of the burn that doesn't work (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn Logs). -
Please post the log of the burn with Verbatim media (you can find the logs at Help/ImgBurn Logs)
-
If you want to burn it as data (i.e. to read on another computer) then you should use the Build mode ("Write files/folders to disc"). If you want to burn it as video (i.e. to play on any standard DVD player) then you'll need to convert your WMV to DVD-Video using DVD Flick, ConvertXtoDVD or similar programs.
-
There's newer firmware (JY08) available for your burner in this page (select the exact model you have), so please apply it and try again. Remember to remove any disc from the drive and close the tray before upgrading the firmware. Also try burning at 8x or 12x. By the way, you could have better results by using better media, such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks.

No finalize disc default and eliminating clicks on burning
mmalves replied to PRR's topic in ImgBurn Support
1- That's not possible since ImgBurn's Build mode only burns closed/finalised discs. 2- The options to disable those prompts are in Tools/Settings/Build tab (all the Don't Prompt ones). -
Upgrade your burner's firmware to the latest version available (XY13) and try again.
-
It's in Help->ImgBurn Logs

It means the burner wasn't able to burn that disc. Get Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x MKM-001-00 Made in Singapore and it should work.
