  1. You'll need to ask someone who has the bootable Vista Ultimate DVD to use ImgBurn (or other program) to extract the boot sector from that disc. You can also extract the boot sector from a bootable ISO image of Vista Ultimate. Maybe you can find it by searching the web or asking on other forums.
  2. It'll work only on CD players that support playing MP3s, so check if yours do. To make an audio CD that will play on any player, use Burrrn
  3. Could it be that you downloaded a PAL DVD and your player only supports NTSC? I'm running out of ideas That message appears when your HD couldn't sustain the transfer speed needed for burning at the speed you've selected.
  4. With ImgBurn open and in Build mode, use Windows Explorer/My Computer to select all the folders you want to burn and drag them to ImgBurn's window, on the Source area. If you find it difficult to target there, click the green arrow to make it almost as big as ImgBurn. If you do it right all the folders will be added at once.
  5. This is what you should do: How to burn an image with ImgBurn Have a look at the Guides forum for other things that ImgBurn can do
  6. I thought ImgBurn would automatically convert the VIDEO_TS folder and all of its contents to uppercase names. Maybe this could be implemented for the next version?
  7. Try and get Verbatim DVD+R DL media, as that's the only one that works. Every other dual-layer media will give you problems sooner or later.
  8. Please don't post download links or anything like that here as it's against this forum's rules. If you mount those ISOs with Daemon Tools (or similar program), can you play them OK with PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc? If you want a freeware program that can play DVDs you could get either Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player. If I'm not mistaken, VLC Media Player is able to play directly from the ISO image, no need for Daemon Tools or anything else.
  9. Nope, Nero Recode is paid software. By the way, use the "perform deep analysis" option of DVD Shrink (it's in the Quality tab) to get better results.
  10. DVDs can only be burnt in Mode 1, regardless of the program used to burn them Please read the Guides forum if you have doubts on how to use ImgBurn. Also, try a slow burning speed (4x and 8x are good) and if you still have problems, please post ImgBurn's log (you can find it in Help/ImgBurn logs).
  11. ImgBurn gets those options from the IFO files of your DVD-Video content, and you can choose only one of them. ImgBurn also rates them based on various factors, so, if you select the best option as per ImgBurn's advice, you should be OK. Remember that you can always use the preview button to see where each option is on your DVD-Video content.
  12. I 22:27:22 Destination Device: [2:1:0] BENQ DVD DD DW1620 B7T9 (E:) (ATA) Your burner's firmware is quite old, so you should update it to the latest version B7W9. W 22:27:46 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - Kan de opdracht niet uitvoeren door een fout in een I/O-apparaat. Could you translate this message, please? I've tried a Dutch to English online translator and it came out as "The task doesnot can carry out by wrong in I/O apparatus". Could that be a "The parameter is incorrect" I/O error?
  13. There's a newer firmware (TS-L632D_AC01_Acer_OEM.zip) available for your burner in this page, if you'd like to try.
  14. What's the manufacturer of your laptop? Only a firmware update from that manufacturer can be trusted.
  15. Your burner doesn't like the media you're using. Search for a firmware update for your burner (in ImgBurn go to Tools/Drive/Check For Firmware Updates), try burning at 2.4x and use Verbatim DVD+R DL media, which is the only one that works (you didn't post the full log so we don't know the quality of the media you're using now).
  16. How did you make the desktop computer use ImgBurn to burn from DVD Shrink? Alternatively, you can set DVD Shrink to create an ISO image, which you can then burn with ImgBurn in Write mode.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, those are saved by Windows' Common Dialogs control. They're saved in this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\OpenSaveMRU\iso Interestingly enough, it has a different list for each extension that was ever used...
  18. You can do that by using ImgBurn's Build mode.
  19. Have you tried UltraISO, MagicISO, PowerISO or IsoBuster? If I recall correctly, any of them should be able to do what you want.
  20. Go to Tools/Drive/Change Book Type, or you can click the icon that looks like an open book (in Build mode it's in the Device tab). As for the firmware, if you don't feel comfortable about it, then you shouldn't do it. There's always the risk of not working, which could render your burner completely useless, and besides, from the information you've posted, Nero also isn't booktyping your media, so this isn't the problem. To avoid those buffer problems you should defragment your HD. Also, just to be sure, please check if your drives are using DMA mode.
  21. Is that from one of the discs that work with your DVD player (the ones burnt with Nero)? //edit Since your drive is probably a re-branded Optiarc, try the NEC tab of the 'Change Book Type' window. By the way, if it does work, it'll only be applied to the next burn(s), so, when in doubt, go there and double-check
  22. I 21:45:48 Source Media Type: DVD+R (Book Type: DVD+R) (Disc ID: SONY-D21-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x, 18x) I 17:37:14 Source Media Type: DVD+R (Book Type: DVD+R) (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R03-04) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x) Your drive isn't booktyping DVD+R media to DVD-ROM, which is required by some DVD players in order to play the disc. If I recall correctly, Nero does this automatically, so that could be why discs burnt with it are working. If you can, please insert one of the working discs in your burner and, with ImgBurn in Write mode, copy and paste here the information shown on the right side of ImgBurn's window. After some research, it seems that your Sony AW-Q170A is, in fact, an Optiarc AD-5170A (read more about it here) so, if you're feeling adventurous enough, you could try and flash your burner with Liggy's AD-5170A Bitsetting Firmware 1.12.
  23. How are you burning those DVDs? All you need to do is, while in Build mode, add the VIDEO_TS folder and click the big Write/Build button. Also, please post the log of one of such burns (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn logs).
  24. Go to Tools/Settings/Write tab, untick 'Cycle Tray Before Verify' and click OK
  25. It also matters where you're reading the files from and where you're saving the image to: if you read files from one HD and save the ISO image on another HD, it'll be much faster than saving to the same HD where the files are. Also, notice that different drive letters doesn't necessarily mean different HDs. If you're in doubt about your configuration, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Manage and, in the Computer Management window that comes up, click Disk Management under Storage branch. In there you have a list of your HDs and the drive letter(s) associated to them.
