  1. ImgBurn doesn't read commercial movie DVDs.
  2. As you can see the slowest speed is 4x, and your drive wrote the media at 4x, so there's no problem. The slowest burning speed you can get is a combination of what your burner and your media allows, so that's why some drives are able to do 2.4x while others aren't.
  3. Also notice that, even though discs are advertised as 4.7GB and 8.5GB, they're in fact 4.38GB and 7.96GB.
  4. An ISO image is an exact representation of a disc, byte by byte, so, it can't be compressed. What you can do is: rip the original DVD9 to HD (we don't offer help with this step so please don't ask) use a program like DVD Shrink, Nero Recode (best option), DVD Flick, etc. to compress/re-author the DVD9 to DVD5 (4.38GB or less) size (use high-quality/2pass mode for better results) all the mentioned programs can output directly to an ISO image if I recall correctly TVisto even supports NTFS, now that's a nice addition. I wish I could have one By the way, if you need help with the compress/re-author step VideoHelp.com has lots of guides about it.
  5. If you're going to burn to DVD+R DL, why use CloneDVD if I may ask?
  6. With ImgBurn in Write mode, could you copy and paste here all the text that's shown on the right of ImgBurn?
  7. With all that memory why not try a buffer of 256MB? Also, have task manager open before burning and, while the buffers are getting empty, check if any process is using an abnormal amount of CPU time. By the way, how fragmented is your HD? I believe you can check it with Windows' Defrag.
  8. That's a bad media. The only good DVD+R DL media today is Verbatim. Try and get some and you'll never have problems. Also, burn it at 2.4x for the best possible results.
  9. If this disc was burnt with your Memorex drive, it's already properly booktyping.
  10. If you've already burnt a DVD+R (SL or DL) and/or a DVD+RW with your Memorex drive, put it in, change ImgBurn to Verify mode, disable 'Verify Against Image File' and click the (big) Verify button. At the very start of verification, ImgBurn will say, in the log, which booktype was written to the media. Pretty much any new burner supports booktyping. Anyway, all the drives listed here support booktyping:
  11. I'll google for that now. Are you using the latest ImgBurn? Inside Advanced tab, Restrictions tab, ISO 9660 tab, did you enable both "Allow Files Without Extensions" and "Don't add ';1' Version Number to Files"? These options are needed for a bootable Windows CD to work. The newest ImgBurn should do this automagically as soon as it detects the I386 folder.
  12. That program shows just about anything you'd want to know about your computer, so it does scan devices, networks, etc., and, by default, it checks for new versions on startup over the Internet.
  13. In this forum ISF means ImgBurn Support Forum, which is the title of the board. About the program, try downloading again, all the files are OK.
  14. Did you download it by torrent?
  15. You need to check if your laptop has USB 2.0 capability. Use this software (no install required) and check under Hardware/Ports/USB if USB 2 is Supported.
  16. ImgBurn, by default, automatically sets the booktype to DVD-ROM on LG (HL-DT-ST) and Samsung (TSSTcorp) drives.

  18. I can think of a couple of reasons... Or maybe you were drooling over Altercuno's ever changing and always top-notch avatar and personal photo...
  19. Wrong model. Those are 1.03 for the ATA model (AD-7170A) and his drives are SATA models: I 22:46:39 Destination Device: [0:1:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170S 1.00 (D:) (ATAPI) I 22:33:38 Destination Device: [0:2:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170S 1.00 (E:) (ATAPI) There seems to be 2 options available for this drive on that page: the original 1.00 firmware (RPC-1 and RPC-2 versions); a hacked one based on 1.00 to allow bitsetting DVD+R(W) to DVD-ROM (RPC-1 and RPC-2 versions). RPC - Region Playback Control (RPC-1 plays DVDs from any region while RPC-2 obeys the regional setting).
  20. Yes, please read these comments about your media. You're not the only one having problems with them.
  21. There's a newer firmware available for your drive. You can download it here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2224 (BCIB is the newest) Verbatim DVD+R DL media works the best, so if you can, try and use it, you won't regret
  22. You can (and should) booktype to DVD-ROM both DVD+R and DVD+R DL.
  23. Could you post the log? You can find it at Help/ImgBurn logs.
  24. You set the booktype before burning, so it will be written to the media at the next burn. Some drives don't "remember" this setting, so you should always check it before burning, just to be sure
  25. Does ImgBurn show any error when quick erase fails? Please paste the log from one of such failures (you can find them in Help/ImgBurn logs).
