Try enabling the Reading - Always Use Buffered I/O option in Tools -> Settings -> I/O tab.

WinRAR, by default, associates itself with the ISO file extension, so it's probably an ISO disc image. Enable showing file extensions on your Windows and you'll see.

Yes, it does affect read speed too, but if he's reading DVD-Video discs (e.g. movies/series/etc) then it could be due to riplock. Can't he do a test burn at MAX speed with DVD-R/DVD-RW media like you did? If he can then tell him to use Discovery mode for that as it's the fastest way of testing. //edit too slow again

You must be using a really old ImgBurn version because since ImgBurn 2.2.0.0 (released on Feb 13th 2007) it tells you to use the Write mode to burn your ISO image instead of using the Build mode.

Try burning at 6x or 8x. You could also try cleaning the burner with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it.

Try burning at 8x or 12x, after all that's 16x rated media. If it doesn't work then you could try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks, and maybe also try a lens cleaning disc on that burner.

Update your burner's firmware. Try doing a Full Erase on that disc. Also try burning at MAX write speed. If all that doesn't help then get better quality CD-RW media or use CD-R instead, which are much more reliable.

Look here to find a solution to your slow burn speed problem. By the way... There's newer firmware (DW10) available for your burner.

It seems that disc was damaged in a previous failed burn. Try with a brand new blank disc. You might also want to try burning at 6x or 8x.

What's the brand of the discs you're using?

UltraISO or IsoBuster should be able to show that information.

If you get 90,000 miscompares then most likely that image isn't the same that was burned on the disc. Try comparing the files on the disc against the source files with something like Beyond Compare or similar.

If it isn't related to ImgBurn we can't help you. Look around with Google and you'll quickly find anything you want to know.

You need a DVD burner in order to burn DVDs, and your current burner can only burn CDs and read DVDs, also known as a combo drive.

This is the guide for burning an ISO image. If it didn't work then you should try with other brands of CD-R (Taiyo Yuden highly recommended), slower burn speeds, etc., until you get it working on your PS2.

Look for the latest drivers for your motherboard's chipset and/or storage controllers (hint: use SIW to identify them), as it seems something is messing with the communication to the burner.

No one here can give any confirmation to you as this is a problem between your burner, its firmware and the media you're using. The burner is probably using a generic write strategy that may have had worked before but isn't working now, and you do know that each DVD+R DL disc isn't exactly the same as the other, right? That's why proper support for the media is a must, so that the burner knows what to do when the writing quality isn't what it should be. The Optiarc AD-7240S is a great burner and I'm also getting one in the very near future

We need more information, so please post the log from when that happens.

Put a blank disc in the drive, wait for it to stop blinking, then open ImgBurn and switch to Write mode. Does it still freeze when doing it this way? If it doesn't then tell us what ImgBurn says in the status bar and also copy and paste here the media information text shown in ImgBurn's main window.

Have you created the IBB file yourself? Sounds like the files/folders specified in the IBB project aren't available anymore.

Your burner is old and has very poor support for the 8x rated DVD+R DL blanks you're using: notice it only supports burning them at 2.4x speed. Burning those blanks on that burner will be a lottery. A new burner by Optiarc, Lite-On or Pioneer (not the 118/218 models) should do good burns on that media. Oh, and update ImgBurn too.

Post the log from that burn attempt (you can find the previous logs in ImgBurn's Help menu).

Try burning at 8x or 12x, or 16x if you need the highest, most reliable speed.
