dbminter Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Well, maybe LUK will make you a Beta Team Member. Aren't you a beta tester for Redfox? Or are you just a knowledgeable user on their forum?
Ch3vr0n Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I sure was for anystream, yeah that's me over there. Same username.Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
dbminter Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I've seen you over there. I use the same name, too. You also introduced me to Macrium Reflect, which I've been using ever since and became a beta tester for them for their Version 8 they released earlier this year.
Ch3vr0n Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I'm currently using acronis on recommendation from over of my fav tech YouTubers because although MR worked flawlessly for me drive BACKUP wise, I've never had a successful drive CLONE with it when I upgraded systems from a HDD to an SSD.The systems NEVER booted even though I selected all partitions, there was always a boot problem. Every single time something was wrong with either the BCD or the EFI partition. Retrying multiple times with Linux vs winPE based media changed nothing.Acronis has worked for me every single time, the first try. But last year they moved into the cyber security market (think antivirus, anti-malware, anti-ransomware) and true image got bloated and renamed to 'Cyber Security Home Office' and I don't like it 1 bit.I may have to give MR another shot. I still have my V6 full and V7 upgrade key.Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
dbminter Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Did you try the Fix Boot Problems in the Reflect Rescue Media? There are a few posts on the Macrium support forums right now from some who are having cloning issues. They keep getting Error 9 trying to read, though. I moved away from True Image a long time ago because the recovery media either never recognized the external HDD or, worse, DID BUT, AFTER DELETING the target partition for restore, the software conveniently FORGETS the USB HDD was there, rendering you with an unbootable system! After that last fiasco where it HAD SEEMED TI was FINALLY viable again, I left it far behind. As you said, TI is now some kind of cyber security bloatware.
Ch3vr0n Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Nope, didn't know about it. And for the review i shouldn't have too. A drive clone should make an exact copy of the boot info and fire right up, it shouldn't need repairing. If ATI can do it right the first time without needing boot record repair, then so should MR. I've never had any problems with it recognizing internal or external drives (not even my nvme based m.2 drive in a USB enclosure). It always saw them before, during and after the clone, and did what it should do and do it right, on the first try.Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
dbminter Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 TI was doing this USB forgetting or not finding them over a decade ago, which was the last time I used it. I've never done it with TI so I can't say, but particularly if you're cloning from one type of hardware to another, you may even to run ReDeploy in Reflect. I've never used the cloning feature of Reflect, but there are several posts I've seen on its forums regarding people needing help with it.
BlizzardUK Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Dare I ask about the new release ? I have used the software since it began and Decrypter before it. Would love a new updated release
dbminter Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Nothing new to report since the last beta was released back in November.
ssjkakaroto Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I'm hoping for a release in June 2023, for the 10th anniversary of 2.5.8.0!
dbminter Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 It would be an interesting milestone for me. It would mark 10 years since I last spoke with a close friend of mine. He installed 2.5.8.0 after it came out, but did not heed my advice to not get click happy because of the PUP's at the time from other sites injecting installers into it. And he didn't regularly backup his system, so, ignoring all this, he installed something that replaced his bookmarks in his web browser with some collection of crap. He collected his entire porn library in his bookmarks rather than downloading it locally, so he "lost" "everything." He stopped talking to me after that simply because, I think, I was the one who told him about the new release. I think he blamed me even though I told him not to get click happy and told him many times he needed to backup his system. He completely disappeared after that and given his past of suicide attempts, I wouldn't be surprised if he did kill himself over something so petty as this.
ssjkakaroto Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Welp, fingers crossed for a 20th anniversary release!
dbminter Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 I'd settle for a 10th anniversary release celebrating the last release.
