Anyone want to take bets on whether First4Internet will still be in business in 6 months time ?
  2. Glad to hear you got it working. I note you have a rather slow write speed. If you have to write this slow to get it to work, then it may be an indication that you need to step up to some higher quality disc's. Also, I don't see any verification in your log after the burn. It's a good idea to have ImgBurn verify the disc after the burn as it will check every sector has burnt properly - particularly beneficial if using lower quality media.

    Anyone know how

What is Firey still away blu ?
  4. Can you be a bit more specific. Did it give any errors during the burn ? Does the disc verify successfully after burning ? Were you using your system for anything else at the same time as burning ? Have you tried again with ImgBurn or only the once ? Suggest posting your log also.
  5. First and foremost you need to establish whether you are dealing with a ripping problem, a problem with the Shrink processing, the image creation or the actual burn process. Therefore suggest that you check the DVD at the end of each step to see where the problem is first showing up.
  6. I don't believe that you can substitute ImgBurn for Nero as you can by substituting ImgBurn for DVDDecrypter. What you can do however is open your VIDEO_TS folder in PgcEdit and from it, create the ISO (uses Img Tools Classic) and burn (uses ImgBurn). PgcEdit also enables you to ensure that 32K gaps are present. Check out PgcEdit homepage here: http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html Link to burning with 32K gaps is on the above page (direct link http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/thi...h%20PgcEdit.htm) Let us know if you have any questions.
  7. What, you're going to blow blu away kirk ?
  8. Thanks for that explanation Pete....it all makes sense now

    The Fog

I don't know that improving on the original is ever a goal is it ? A remake, would normally by default produce a renewed market for the original. You look at any remake, and generally find the original is all of a sudden released or re-released on DVD, the TV stations air it, and the inevitable comparison reviews prompt people who have never seen the first to end up seeing both. Even if the remake bombs they make up $$'s on the original.
  10. As Grain indicates, Gear is probably using the DVDA setting for the authoring stage, not the actual burning stage. It may not technically even be necessary for the authoring stage (I don't know for sure). Gear may simply have it as a selectable setting so that following dialog boxes in the authoring process specifically reference DVDA or so that irrelevant options are not presented - thus minimising user confusion/possibility for error.

    Fly in my Coke!

I'll take a dozen tickets in that Easter raffle thanks blu
  12. Maybe need it spelt out in that size on the forum sign up page.
  13. @life: That topic and program cannot be discussed here under any circumstances. You will have to look elsewhere for assistance.
  14. Yeah, would need a guide and link to that too (!)
  15. I also agree. The choice of what's in the movie should be that of the Producers, Directors, etc. The Classification or Censorship Boards should stick to assigning consistent classifications to finished products. If there was consistency, then films could be better targeted at the outset of production. Having said that I also believe that studios benefit once a film gets to DVD by marketing the UN-CUT version. So in that respect a certain amount of self enforced cutting would occur to enable this.
  16. Considering all the evils that we are supposedly being protected from through the use of classification / censorship, Sweden must be an awefully messed up place. Funny however how we don't hear about the rampant and unrestrained sex crimes that must be occurring in Sweden - if we are to believe the local censors.
  17. I recently donated for the Pro version of DVD-RB, but hadn't actually gotten around to trying it out. Have now used it twice (with HC) and must say I'm impressed with the ease of use and quality produced. Encoding step took 3 hours on normal quality for 7 Gig disc on Athlon64 3000+ (2.08 GHz 512 RAM). I love that it handles Angles as I can now easy strip audio & subs from such VTS's (VobBlanker catering for all others).
  18. New Office Regulations Due to focus on overtime and expense control during this period, it has become necessary to put into effect immediately the following rules and procedures: 1) Visits To The Toilet Far too much time on this particular practice. In future, all staff members will go in alphabetical order. All surnames beginning with "A" will go from 9:45 am to 10:00 am. Those beginning with "B" will go from 10:05 am to 10:20 am, and so on. Anyone unable to attend at the appropriate times will have to wait until the following day for their turn to come around. 2) Sickness No excuse. The Company will no longer accept a doctor's certificate as proof. It you are able to go to a doctor, you are able to attend work. 3) Leave Of Absence For Operation No time off will be allowed for an operation. The Company believes that as long as you are an employee, you will need all of whatever parts you already have, and will not consider having any of it removed. We have engaged you for a particular job, with all your parts, and to have anything removed would mean that the Company is getting less than what it is contracted for. 4) Death (Other Than Your Own) This is no excuse. There is nothing you can do for them, and henceforth no time will be allowed for funerals. However, in case of hardships, the Company has a special scheme, in conjunction with the local cemetery, for lunch-time burials, thus ensuring that no time is lost from work. 5) Death (Your Own) This will be accepted as an excuse. We would like two weeks' notice, since we feel that it is your duty to train someone else for your job, as a back-up.
  19. While I haven't looked into classification / censorship as you db, I have noted on IMDB the huge variances between some countries ratings. Prime example is the list of movies rated as 7 years in Sweden. Quite a number of these in Australia have M (Mature Audiences recommended for 15 years & over) or MA Restricted (under 15 years must be accompanied by parent/guardian).
  20. Don't know - I'm a public servant.
