  1. ok so if chkdsk froze you either have a physical hdd problem or the drivers for your controller (whatever the hdd is connected to) are so bad that they even kill the hdd I/O and that's why ImgBurn stops - either because the buffer is empty or because stuck I/O kills everything on the machine. Next I guess you need to try some DOS based hdd testing utils. The Ultimate Boot CD or Hiren's one have lots of hdd testing utils from all the different hdd manufacturers along with 3rd party ones.
  2. Please copy + paste what you see in the log window.
  3. The FAQ tells you what to do when this happens, I can't really add anything beyond what it says.
  4. You'd have to tell us the make / model of the drive for us to know that. Machines can come with any number of different drives.
  5. WMP does weird things, you have to try opening the file in graphedit as that's the proper test of how well directshow can deal with the files.
  6. I'd be amazed if any software that uses Microsoft's SPTI interface works. It's not like ImgBurn is doing anything special, your machine is just rejecting all the I/O calls. Oh well, you can't please them all.
  7. Oh crap, I totally missed the 'BDROM' bit! Yes that's weird and it's probably there due to Alcohol / DAEMON Tools. You need to turn off the options that make those tools mask the media - even if it only says it's doing it for DVD+RW or whatever.
  8. The layer break is only important when burning DVD Video - which it doesn't sound like you're doing anyway.
  9. Do a RAM test in memtest+ for a few cycles and then maybe do a full chkdsk on your hdd and pass the switch to have it check all the bad sectors. Post your filter driver info - use Tools -> Filter Drivers -> Copy to clipboard (then paste into a reply)
  10. Delete these: Lower Class Filter: sscdbhk5 Lower Class Filter: Afc Lower Class Filter: drvmcdb Lower Class Filter: PxHelp20 Then reboot.
  11. A driver or something is blocking all comms to the drives. Use the 'Copy to Clipboard' button in the Tools -> Filter Drivers window and paste into a reply. Personally I'd uninstall dvd43 too and see if that fixes the issue.
  12. Take a look at the paces in this topic http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
  13. If the firmware supports it, yeah. It's all down the the drive manufacturers really.
  14. I believe it's in the Write Errors box inside Tools -> Settings -> Write tab.
  15. I'm sure some Taiyo Yuden TYG02 8x DVD-R discs would work. They work in everything!
  16. Look at the 'Supported Write Speeds' bit of text in the panel on the right. That's all your drive supports on the current media. You can't force it to use a speed it doesn't support, it'll simply ignore the request.
  17. Just exactly what type of discs did you get? Are they really DVD-RW or are they DVD+RW? If your player can't work with the media you've purchased than you'll have to buy some others. Maybe there's a list on the Toshiba website somewhere that says which discs it does support - I go with Verbatim if I were you. In PC land, only DVD+RW need to be 'formatted' before they can be used... and I suspect that type of 'format' isn't the one your standalone player is talking about. As such, ImgBurn isn't going to help you make your current discs work. Of course if you went with write once media (DVD-R / DVD+R) you probably wouldn't have to 'format' the disc at all.
  18. It wasn't a zip, it was an ISO. You must just have your compression tool associated with ISO files (turn it off in the settings!) You can also have explorer show file extensions so that kind of problem doesn't happen again.
  19. Did you download from Microsoft? It's certainly an ISO when you get it from them. Then you just use Write mode (or click the 'Write Image File To Disc' button on the main page) to burn the ISO. I've no idea where your MDS file came from.
  20. If you look at your write speed (MAX which equals 16x according to the write descriptors) and then compare that to what your drive actually achieved you'll see that it's WAYYYY down on what it should be. That means there's still an issue somewhere. Make sure you Verify your burns - this is even more important when you know you're having issues. After that it's just a case of taking my advice and investing in some decent discs. Princo are useless.
  21. Try flashing the firmware on the drive again, maybe it didn't take properly the first time. But basically, if it won't initialise DL discs properly then the drive is probably broken.
  22. It must be a slightly odd mp3 file. Can you please upload it somewhere or email it to support (check the program's 'About' box) so I can look at it? I'll delete it again when I'm done looking into the issue.
  23. Is the drive on a 3rd party (plugin - i.e. pci / pcie) sata raid controller or just the intel ich8 controller? What 'mode' is the controller running in? (this is normally set in the bios) You want to make sure it's in standard / ata mode and not ahci or raid.
  24. Sorry, I don't have an explanation for this. They should match up for the media you're using and that fact that byte level verification between the image/device has obviously passed makes it even stranger that they don't. All I can say to do is read the disc back to a new image and use 'comp' or some GUI tool to compare them that way, or of could use another md5 tool. It might give us a clue.
  25. What have you installed / changed that could have caused it? I/O normally gets stuck due to bad controller / filter drivers. What make of controller is the drive actually connected to? If you don't know that, perhaps you know what make/model motherboard you have or what chipset it uses? How many optical drives (including virtual ones) do you have in your machine? I see that one thinks it's a slave drive so I'm guessing it's an IDE one?
