  1. Totally take the nvidia stuff off and reboot your PC. The standard microsoft ones should then go back on and hopefully they'll work ok.
  2. Does that folder not exist? It should actually be longer than that but I guess your registry program cut the rest off.
  3. The 'Current Profile' thing is what the drive reports via a certain command. You can look at the 'physical format information (atip)' and that'll probably say dvd+r dl. My guess is that's what DIP is using / displaying. It doesn't really matter, it just looked weird As for the pi/po thing, the scale just looked wrong because there are so many points that are dead on 25/26... if they really are 25/26 then fair enough! I was expecting to see more errors if there was a proper read error - maybe there's just a defect in the dye on that disc. You'd better hope it doesn't run throughout the spindle
  4. 'Current Profile' normally stays on the true disc format regardless of the booktype setting. So long as the buffers remain full (i.e. all things must be equal), it makes no difference if they're burnt on-the-fly or via an image file. It's the same burning code within ImgBurn doing all the work. You could probably do with changing the scale on the graph a bit so you can see how high up the errors actually go. You could try the jitter and ta tests too. In any case, it's still pointing to a bad burn. I'm sure there's a test somewhere to check the potential burn quality on blank media, I can't remember where exactly though. It might be under where the media learning stuff is (autostrategy).
  5. ImgBurn.exe /MODE BUILD /BUILDMODE IMAGEFILE /SRC "C:\Folder1\" /DEST "D:\Image1.iso" /FILESYSTEM "ISO9660 + UDF" /NOIMAGEDETAILS /START /CLOSE ImgBurn.exe /MODE BUILD /BUILDMODE IMAGEFILE /SRC "C:\Folder2\" /DEST "D:\Image2.iso" /FILESYSTEM "ISO9660 + UDF" /NOIMAGEDETAILS /START /CLOSE ImgBurn.exe /MODE BUILD /BUILDMODE IMAGEFILE /SRC "C:\Folder3\" /DEST "D:\Image3.iso" /FILESYSTEM "ISO9660 + UDF" /NOIMAGEDETAILS /START /CLOSE ... ImgBurn.exe /MODE BUILD /BUILDMODE IMAGEFILE /SRC "C:\FolderX\" /DEST "D:\ImageX.iso" /FILESYSTEM "ISO9660 + UDF" /NOIMAGEDETAILS /START /CLOSE Something like that.
  6. It looks like those new drivers have messed things up and now the error codes from the drive are getting lost somewhere and the program is just being told a load of rubbish (i.e. 'No Additional Sense Information'). I'd roll back to the previous version if I were you.
  7. That's interesting, your Plextor is reading that disc as a DVD-ROM. I'm sure it should still think it's a DVD+R DL, even if the booktype is DVD-ROM. Do you have PlexTools installed? Try scanning the disc and seeing how good a job the drive did at burning the media. If you've got an L-EC error like that I'm guessing it wasn't a good one.
  8. It's the 2nd window that should be open when you use ImgBurn. If you've closed it down, click 'View' -> 'Log' to open it again. If you want to locate an old log, click 'Help' -> 'ImgBurn Logs...'
  9. They might have worked 'great' in the past but they're obviously not working so great now. If you've tried burning again and you're getting the exact same error then there's not much else you can do besides changing the discs for some better ones. The errors a drive throws up during a burn can only come from a bad drive / media / firmware combination. If your firmware is up-to-date and the drive isn't broken, that only leaves the media.
  10. Got a log handy?
  11. I know lots of you are seeing ' Program Memory Area Update Failure ' (or ' PMA Update Failure ') type errors and today I've spent a while figuring out why you seem to be complaining that it's just with ImgBurn and other programs don't show the error. The answer is simple, they just ignore it / don't tell you about it. The error seems to occur most frequently for people burning DVD+R in LiteOn and Samsung drives. It doesn't seem to matter much if you're using junk media or top of the line Verbatim stuff. Here's a typical example of a log from ImgBurn where the 'Program Memory Area Update Failure' error is shown: So anyway, what you'll see as you scroll down through this post is the raw I/O captured by special software as it flows from the drive to the burning application. It allows me to see I/O errors that the burning apps may or may not display. As a bit of background info, when you see 'SENSE' in the left column it basically means the drive errored out. Some are to be expected, some aren't. The codes within the data to the right of that (know as 'sense data' or 'sense area') tell the program what the problem was. The code for the 'Program Memory Area Update Failure' error is 73 04. So to sum up, the only application (along side ImgBurn) that does what it's supposed to and actually tell you about the error is Nero v8.3.6.0. If you're using one of the other apps and thinking it's wonderful because you're not getting the PMA error, think again... you are! Now, take your rose tinted specs off and use a program that doesn't keep you in the dark about potential problems with your burns.
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. I hope that fixes your problem. Maybe they'll give you a newer model too
  14. 1.2x would be about right if 'Fast Write' was disable and hence the drive was performing 'Write + Verify' for every 'Write' command I send it.
  15. What's the actual write rate during the burn? If it's 2x or above then there's nothing wrong. The spare areas thing only really changes the size of the disc (to allow for more error recovery type stuff). It won't make the disc any easier to read. If you build an image and mount it, it should play fine (as readability obviously isn't an issue then). If it doesn't then I'd have to guess there's something wrong with the source files - or the player itself. Did you say you've already installed the latest powerdvd 8 patch? There have been 2 in the last week or so, the first was awful and so the 2nd fixed what the 1st broke!
  16. Burning is burning, it doesn't matter what type of info you want on the disc.
  17. fast write would make a 2x verb bd-re burn at about 2.3x and not 1.1x. So it more than halves the time it takes to burn. It really does just sound like your PS3 can't read the disc properly. The same thing happens (unable to FF, stuttering etc) on a normal DVD player when the disc can't be read.
  18. The 'MediaType=DVD' thing is an unsupported keyword at this time. Just delete it from the .DVD file as it's only used/useful when mounting the image in Virtual CloneDrive.
  19. Perhaps? Can you still burn SL media? You can actually pay
  20. Sounds like you're getting the 'delayed write' failure message if you've got a yellow triangle in the system tray. Try a new cable. You might even find it's due to whatever is powering the external drive. Can you undo the case and take the drive out? If so, do that and make it internal (outside of the case though), read the stuff off it and then return it / get a new one.
  21. That's pretty much how it is for the entire GUI. I might get around to offering both sets in the EXE but it's not actually that straight forward at the moment, I'd want to tidy some things up first.
  22. 'Check Condition' is pretty much a constant error code in all I/O errors - i.e. it's the LEAST important. Without the full error (the sense area stuff) we can really tell what's going on.
  23. ***Merged some posts from another thread *** If you've tried loads of firmwares, how comes you didn't finish on (or at least go back to) the latest one - v1.24?
  24. It just disables that bit of powerdvd. i.e. the stupid annoying thing you'll never use and that makes it look like discs are unsupported until you read what it says carefully I only mentioned it because I've just done it on my machine.
  25. btw, if you want to get rid of the movie remix stuff, just save this as a reg file and import it. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD8] "EnableMovieLibrary"=dword:00000000 "EnableMovieRemix"=dword:00000000 "UI_MLiveEnableFeature"=dword:00000000
