Yes of course it's a bit daft having it that way but then the program erases automatically before you burn so why bother with it at all? The erase function needs it's own 'mode' just as much as the 'audio cd' one does... but that'll only happen when I feel like doing it. Yes there's a (long) beta phase and no it's not public.

Yes I've used Verbatim BD-RE (25GB) without any problems in my GGW-H20L (currently with YL03 firmware). I've also used a TDK BD-RE DL (50GB) disc with it and that formatted / burnt / verified just fine too. Mine all came from www.svp.co.uk but it seems they're only stocking the 5 packs of Verbatim BD-RE discs at the moment and the TDK BD-RE DL's are nowhere to be seen!

No, we really couldn't! Erase works with the drive currently selected in whatever mode you're in - and once again, there is no active drive in the Ez-Mode Picker screen. It wouldn't make sense to randomly select a mode and automate a click on the 'Erase' button (bottom left of the 'Destination' device box) because you might not have the right drive selected. As for there being 6 options and 5 mode, well 2 of them are both 'Build' mode but with a different 'Output' mode set. (Device / Image File)
-
So when it tries to format it the drive / program just throws up an error? Save yourself a lot of time and just buy some verbatim bd-re instead! They've always worked ok for me.

Sorry, this isn't the place to be asking 'ripping' questions. Please proceed to another forum that deals with that kinda stuff.

'Ez-Mode Picker' is exactly what it says, it's an easy way for the (less clued up) user to pick the correct 'Mode'. There is no 'Erase' mode, hence why it's not on the Ez-Mode Picker screen. There isn't an active drive when you're on the Ez-Mode Picker screen, hence why 'Erase' isn't (and all the other drive related options aren't) available. Audio support comes from CUE file support, there is no 'Mode' for making an audio disc... in time that'll no doubt change but I wanted to keep things as simple for me as possible until I was happy with how the internal code was working. Creating an audio disc is a 2 part process. First you must create a CUE file, then you load the CUE file in Write mode. So everything is just fine as it is.

It was probably a fluke burn - I bet the quality of it was pretty low. btw, 'firmware' is not a driver, it's like the OS (operating system) for your drive (stored on the drive itself) and controls everything to do with burning.

device not ready (no reference position found)

If it is, update to the .39 (WHQL) driver from here: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2k_xp_Vista/ -
Yes. btw, it's MDS, not MD5 - that's something totally different

DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray's are always Mode1/2048, CD's can be various formats. When the program can use *.ISO, it will do - otherwise it'll use the BIN/CUE format. That is to say, a MODE1/2048 CD will default to save as *.ISO. Other formats will default to save as *.BIN.
-
yeah, it'll just split the data in half and put equal amounts on both layers.
-
ISO files typically contain MODE 1 sectors, with 2048 bytes per sector. If you try and make an ISO file containing other types of sectors, some programs can't handle it. btw, leave the I/O interface on SPTI.

The special LB stuff only applies to DVD Video discs, no other format/type of data really cares about them.
-
The program shows an awful lot of folders being added to the 'Source' box but no 'Files' are being found (at first anyway). Are you sure you've not checked the 'Archive Files Only' checkbox or something and hence are preventing ImgBurn from adding any files without that attribute set? Don't forget you'll also need 'Recurse Subdirectories' checked if the MP3 files are not directly in the folders you're adding to the Source box.

I need the/a log of you actually burning the/a disc.

Computer Freezing related to 360 game burning
LIGHTNING UK! replied to ShermDogg's topic in ImgBurn Support
Does it remain frozen if you turn the external drive off? Does it only happen when burning DL media? (the content isn't important) -
The type of mp3 (vbr/cbr) has nothing to do with it working or not, when you burn them onto a data disc the file isn't changed. Compare the ImgBurn burnt disc to one burnt using Burnatonce or whatever it's called. Do both discs show up exactly the same in Explorer or does the BAO one show up as an audio cd, listing 'Track 1, Track 2' etc. (which is basically what donta just mentioned) The log of the burn would still be useful. *hint hint*

Computer Freezing related to 360 game burning

Please follow the bold advice in the pink bit at the top of the forum. -
You can open the 'Log' window via the 'View' menu at the top of ImgBurn's main window. Once you've burnt your disc (use a rewritable if you like), just copy + paste from there. Make sure you're using v2.4.2.0 Previous logs can be accessed via the 'Help' menu. If the PC can see all the MP3's on the disc then it should also be fine in your standalone player - assuming it really does support MP3. If it's picky, you (we) just need to figure what's stopping it from working. Do you know (or can find out) the exact make and model of it?

device not ready (no reference position found)
LIGHTNING UK! replied to foxchief's topic in ImgBurn Support
So same disc in the same drive works fine in 1 pc but not in another? It's an odd message ('No Reference Position Found') for the drive/driver to be reporting back to ImgBurn if that really is the case. Are there any updates available for your motherboard - bios / ide controller drivers etc? Which chipset does that motherboard use? Is the PSU ok and able to supply the drive with enough power? -
Drag & Drop when running ImgBurn as Administrator
LIGHTNING UK! replied to fordman's topic in ImgBurn Support
It's the way Vista works. dragging from an application running as a restricted user (i.e. not gone via UAC) to an application running as admin would/could represent a security risk so Vista just blocks it. -
With /portable and /settings I'm not seeing this in 2.4.2.0.
-
If your player can see the files then it should be playing the sound - that isn't anything to do with ImgBurn. Can you browse the burnt CD in explorer and see the same files on it that you have stored on your hdd? Making a data style music cd is the same as making any other cd (i.e. everything done via 'Build' mode) ... and if that didn't work then we'd all have a problem with it.

Drag & Drop when running ImgBurn as Administrator
LIGHTNING UK! replied to fordman's topic in ImgBurn Support
Can't you use the bit mentioned in the Guides to get performance counters working? It seems Vista won't allow D+D between utils running under different security levels. It would probably work ok if ImgBurn was the source app of the D+D, but not the other way around. (i.e. must go highest to lowest)
