Update your firmware and use better DL discs. http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/download.jsp?d...108_FW120EU.EXE Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00) made in Singapore.

You've got DMA issues. Change the cable going to the drive and make sure it's as short as possible - avoid connecting it to a jmicron controller if you can. Set the drive as master / slave, don't use cable select. Follow the DMA post in the FAQ to uninstall the IDE controller from device manager and reboot.

No. bin is typically just used by CD discs that have multiple tracks (where bin/cue is then used) - possibly with different sector sizes involved (although they'll all be the same within the bin file). An ISO is a bog standard image.

The 50GB is a different dye, the 25GB didn't seem to burn too well on the drive, that's why it died and failed to reinitialise it. It's the same thing that happens with DVDs. Some just work better than others. I have a H20L and I've had no problems so far with the Verbatim 25GB BD-RE discs. You can try and do a format on the disc, just click Tools -> Drive -> Erase -> Full. That may or may not work.

UDF 1.50 is only useful for data. The 'standard' one is 1.02 and it's what most devices would expect to see on a DVD. The UDF version is nothing to do with the booktype - and vice versa.

If the Ricoh's aren't working for you, try some Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL instead (MKM-001-00, made in Singapore).

application failed to initialize properly

More an issue with you! As a new member, your posts are moderated and not made visible until one of the senior members has ok'd them. If you're not even getting the splashscreen then the problem is out of my hands as it's not my code that's messing things up. Every time I've seen this problem in the past (and I probably haven't in a couple of years) it has been related to viruses or bad memory. Do a few of those online virus scans from different vendors and maybe a few spyware sweeps with the likes of Spybot and Ad-aware. Test your memory using MemTest86+ -

Do you see anything at all? A splashscreen or whatever? What OS are you running? How much memory do you have? Have you tried scanning for viruses? -
Right well it looks like you've tried to burn that disc before and then maybe cancelled it for some reason. I say this because your log shows 'Failed to set L0 Data Zone Capacity' and yet clearly it has worked at some point because that exact value (2.077.920) is what the media says it's locked to.

Eject that disc, reboot and then insert it again. Then re-copy + paste the info.
-
Back in the main window, copy + paste all the disc info from the memo on the right.

A single interface for adding folders and files like in Nero!

It's called drag and drop You can even use copy + paste. -
That's where the discs are made, not where you have to go to buy them! As you can see from the 'Write Speeds' text, 2.4x isn't even an option on the MKM-003-00 media in that drive with that firmware. If you're tried 4x, 6x and 8x and none of them work then you're out of luck. Get some 2.4x MKM-001-00 discs as mentioned before and try again OR get yourself a new drive. You can pick them up for about

The logs are saved automatically. Help menu -> ImgBurn logs. If you're using MKM-003-00, try getting MKM-001-00 from Singapore instead.

It could be heat related and also your media is hit and miss anyway. Get some Taiyo Yuden/Verbatim discs instead and give them a go. After that you might like to consider upgrading to a newer/better/faster/cheaper drive. Oh and pleeeease don't do I/O debug enabled logs until I (we) actually ask for them! A simple copy + paste would have done straight into the forum 'post' box, there's no need to make us download rtf files for plain text.

One already exists... I like to call it 'Explorer' -
If it won't initialise the discs and you've tried some from different spindles (or even ones you've already burnt), the drive has probably gone south.
-
Are you sure you don't just have something running in the background that's changing the data on the fly?
-
You probably need MKM-001-00. MKM-003-00 might not be supported by that drive - it's pretty old now.
-
ImgBurn uses the wininet functions so that's what you need to do to get it working. Doing it in Control Panel -> Internet Settings is enough, I don't want to make you load IE if it's gonna make you upset
-
Wow your drive is an old one... and manufactured looooong before those discs were ever created. If you want to use the latest discs/dyes then you're going to need a new burner.
-
It takes the info from IE. We're behind a proxy at work and I've never noticed any problems with it.
-
There is no spoon... erm I mean picture. The logs are saved automatically, look in the Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs. Upgrade to 2.4.0.0 I make these updates for a reason! lol

Burning srt (subtitle) files with avi on dvd rw
LIGHTNING UK! replied to sfernan's topic in ImgBurn Support
You're going to need to tell me the exact file names as displayed on a working and non working disc - both containing the same content. Only then can we see what it might be. Ideally we need to see the ISO9660 names and the Joliet ones - you could use IsoBuster to get/show this information. It'll output the filenames to a text file. -
Ok, after the 3 automatic retries it'll prompt if it's still getting a typical failure response from the drive. You can then choose to retry cycling the tray again or simply give up.
