  1. Is that size correct if you check the properties on the actual file? Open the burnt disc in IsoBuster and compare it to the image file in the same program. Is everything there in both?
  2. If you rewrite the drive's firmware, yeah I guess so!
  3. What exactly are you trying to burn for playback on the xbox? I don't have an xbox so it's impossible for me to really look into it, you need to tell me exactly what's different between the images created (equally) by both programs. Something like IsoBuster might be of some use here.
  4. This is a drive / firmware / media thing. Look at the 'Supported Write Speeds' text in the info section on the right of the main window - or in the log during/after a burn.
  5. You can only burn an ISO in Write mode. If you did that and it didn't work then there's nothing you can do to fix it. When you load the image what exactly does ImgBurn say in the little 'Source' box? Does the 'Size' match up with the real size of the ISO? Do you have the log of you burning the disc? (Help menu -> ImgBurn Logs)
  6. Does it now do this with all discs you use? Do you have any *different* discs to the Sony ones you say you're using? Even a rewritable will do for testing. What have you changed since it last worked ok? (Assuming it has worked ok at some point of course!) Have you checked with whoever makes your PC that the drive has the latest firmware on it? It seems like a bit of a drive bug to me, that's not a status code it should be returning and I've never seen the issue before - nor has Google so it would seem, I just did a quick search.
  7. I'm glad the Verbatims are working ok for you Your PC (i.e. Explorer/My Computer) doesn't report the same 'size' info that a burning program will. It shows the size of the data on the disc whereas a burning tool will show the physical size of any tracks/sessions on it.
  8. Ignore the manual, I'm sure it'll work just fine with DVD+R DL media.
  9. I've ordered a couple of those discs from SVP. They should be here tomorrow or the day after. Check back in a few days, at the moment there's nothing we can do.
  10. Your drive is producing bad burns on that media... so bad that it can't even read the disc itself. Get yourself some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim discs instead. You might also like to check for any available firmware updates.
  11. That's down to the media format. The LB on DVD-R DL is in a fixed position (unlike DVD+R DL). That's why you'll never see anyone recommend them!
  12. Please get me another debug log after the firmware update so I can compare. Thanks.
  13. That ^^ is not a normal response! Try the 1.02 firmware update. http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ODD/DVD-R...2014L1T_102.zip
  14. It asking you to confirm the disc type isn't a huge problem. All you need to do is pick BD-RE and i'll run the appropriate code. The problem is what happens after that.
  15. There's no reason I couldn't just insert a few amongst the existing ones. Sometimes funny, sometimes informative... I almost like the idea... glad I thought of it
  16. Nope, none at all. Just so long as you know which is which when looking in Explorer / My Computer. Have you actually turned off the 'Perform OPC Before Write' option in the settings now as suggest earlier?
  17. Just so I know we're on the same page still, the current problem is that your drive keeps changing it's mind and saying the current profile is BD-ROM one minute and BD-RE the next - all without you actually doing anything except maybe ejecting / reinserting the disc?
  18. A quick format on BD-RE is just it writing zeros to the first 800 sectors. It's very pointless as writing the image would do that anyway (only it would use real data and not zeroes).
  19. Then you must have done something to make windows change the letters (uninstalled the IDE controller perhaps?) because if that pic is newer than the logs, your burner is now E:.
  20. It's not a windows disc so it doesn't contain a file system that ImgBurn understands. rename the file to .iso and ImgBurn will fallback to pretending it's a standard iso (mode1/2048)
  21. Nero doesn't wait for the 'full format' to finish, I do. On BD-RE, I then write zeroes to all the sectors to make sure they're totally blank. (The DVD+RW full format seems to do this anyway). BD-RE and BD-RE DL share the same 'format' command. I see nothing in the MMC specs saying otherwise.
  22. more logical, yes. more fun, certainly not!
  23. Your log clearly shows the burner with the 'D:' drive letter.
  24. The current profile info visible in that text is only used for that text. Before the erase operation starts, the command is issued again. It's weird that the drive would keep changing it's mind like that. Do you have any special software installed for burning/formatting BD discs? ie. anything that came with either of the drives? I haven't gotten around to buying any BD DL media for my H20L yet... maybe I should and we can compare results.
  25. That window pops up when the drive isn't reporting nice info (the 'current profile') for the disc. Put it in the drive and copy + paste all the disc related info from the window on the right.
