depends what you saved them as in win movie maker ? avi , mpeg ect ect afaik, win MM doesnt convert to dvd files. whatever format the files are you will need to author them to make a dvd compliant file structure , then burn to disc for a standalone player to be able to play it. use something like "tmpgenc dvd author" to do this, then the resulting files can be burned with ImgBurn in Build mode

just tell the store it was chipped and scratched when you got it out the box,and they will probably replace it for you. ? what about the store you bought the xbox from ? , most of them usually sell games as well as the consoles

or even buy an external one if you dont fancy diving into your PC's tower

yup . no writer means you cant make a cd . your drive is only a cd rom drive, which means it can read cd's but not write to them IF you do have a cd writer or dvd writer, they are not installed properley , hence ImgBurn cant "see" them

Thanks Donta not saying we are behind the times in this household, but we are still on paint shop pro 6 LOL , latest is v11 .I dont mind upgrading/buying i if it does what im trying to do i was still using a printer from 1995 till last week ( scanned and printed) and as i dont really use a printer much there was never really a need to buy a "modern" one. ended up buying a wireless all in one off a guy at work ( fell off the back of a lorry without getting damaged amazingly ), hence my daughters need to copy some photos and re-design the patterns on the clothes in the photo's that link didnt tell me where to find the setting im after unfortunately, only how they drew there own pics. tried the scanner and greyscale , but my software doesnt allow much flexibilty in the quality of scan, so was unable to acheive what i wanted to do

trying to find a way of converting some photo's into a simple outline, so kids can colour it in. similar to what you see in kids colouring in books. just a simple pencil outline of all the detail with no shading or differant shades of grey/black/white I cant see a way of doing it with ms paint , or paintshop pro ( unless im missing the obvious) suggestions for a free imaging program that will do this are welcome thanks in advance

discs carry manufacturers ID codes on them, and the drives firmware tells the drive how to interpret that code. the code relates to burn strategy .so basically its down to the firmware on each drive as to what write speeds ImgBurn reports back to you IB only reports back what info the drive passes to it from reading the Manufacturers info on the disc. after reading your using ritek/fuji I would thoroughly recommend you get verbatims for dual layer writing though, nothing else is as reliable

a good workman never blames his tools Hmmm , if i was told the blank dvd i was using was to small, and i didnt understand the error message, i would be asking for help in a help forum !! not slagging the program off in front of many many users who have never really had a problem ............. but then , thats what "I" would do well heres a tip for you Frank , ImgBurn was never actually made for people who dont know what to do . It was intended for users who knew what an ISO, DV5 and DV9 , But as it became more popular because of its simplicity , the author Lightning_UK and a member called Cornholio wrote some extremely good, easy to follow guide's . The author even created this support forum , which incidently you found alright , for the purpose of helping people with problems. so the question which begs is............ why didnt you jut ask for help rather than posting a load of crap because you didnt understand the program ?? ALL programs have minor issues of some sort, wetehr within the program of to so with 3rd party items like choice hardware and media ,but they dont all have support like you can get here. IF you dont know how to use it, just ask IF you dont understand something thats happening when using it, just ask You've shown you have little knowledge of how to use ImgBurn,( thats not a criticism , we all have to start somewhere with new programs to us) or at least you've shown you dont have the patience to try and work out what went wrong or ask "why" it went wrong by reading your rants in post 1 of this thread EDIT so far you have had the fortune of replies by the Author, 3 beta team members/testers and a regular helpfull member. had you approached the problem with a differant manner , you would be successfully burning discs to your hearts content by the time youd got down to this post

unable to recover TOC means the drive cannot read the disc ( TOC = table Of Contents) . The TOC tells the drive whats on the disc and how to play it and what order basically. If the drive is unable to read it, it means it cannot read the disc. Options open to you are; update firmware and/or use better quality discs like taiyo yuden or verbatims check your in "Build" or "Write" mode as well if you can get the drive to recognise a blank disc, post a log file for us

although its a sony disc that uses the MKM dye, that doesnt mean its as good as a genuine verbatim disc using the MKM dye a similar thing happens with taiyo yuden's dye. Fuji use it on there discs, but it fails and genuine Taiyo yudens work ! go figure until you try a genuine verbatim disc with MKM 001 dye you cant rule out the media . even though it was a sony disc with the MKM 001 dye, that doesnt mean its anywhere near as good as a verbatim with MKM 001 dye. we ONLY recommend genuine Verbatim discs with MKM 001 dye at 2.4x

yorkec what country do you live in ? if its the UK or near the UK you want these as single discs svp media or for a 10 pack of the same discs svp media or for a 20 apck of the same discs svp media

you can try closing the disc with ImgBurn

your drive doesnt like those discs, it cant even read the write speeds of the disc you could possibly try slowing the write speed down from MAX to 8 or 4 x to see if that gets round it, but i would suggest you buy some decent taiyo yudens or verbs

the drive doesnt like those discs basically , you could try slowing the burn down from MAX to say 8x and see if that cures it or even 4x if 8x errors out . If not, then get some taiyo yudens and at very least get Taiyos next time you buy media

if you put a data disc in that drive , then go into my computer, does windows let you "explore" the disc ?

from SVP i've always used these genuine Taiyo Yuden -R 8x TYG02 http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=164&prepg=2 i know Cornholio used to use them as well, they are -R 8x discs, ive never tried the unbranded ones from svp though. some discs other than taiyo yuden use the TY dye/ink , however ive never found another brand that is as good as genuine TY's .( verbatim and fuji included) I tried verbatims years ago, but my panasonics didnt like them, hence my move to REAL taiyo yudens with TYG02 dye/ink,

Its possible the disc you made will still play in a standalone player, albeit with a small glitch at some point. as long as it was a "read" error in verification, it means that the drive had problems reading the disc when it was comparing it with the original file on your hdd. Answer to this is to chnage your media to a better kind, however, it would be of more help if you post a log file and we can advise you further/better after we see it Chances are your using blank media with a "CMC" dye/ink, which is about the worst type there is , hence the need to see the log file

so you didnt create it yourself then ?? with ImgBurn , what goes in = what comes out .Imgburn just burns the image you tell it to , it doesnt alter it in anyway refer to Donta's reply above for that one
