  1. discs
  2. i think you already know the answer EDIT i would say discs, but more may be revealed from the log file , im curious is this a usb2 device or original usb 1 connection
  3. Im going to assume you want to burn at slow speeds because you've heard the old one about burning games as slowly as possible to get a good disc , well thats a myth . Its quite safe to burn at 4x upwards with a decent PC .Yours appears to be a decent PC with 1gb ram, win xp SP2,decent burner, (unless your using a USB1 connection which cannot supply data fast enough to the burner , but yours looks like an internal burner anyway so you have no problems with dataflow) . i wouldnt go above 8x myself, even if you have the capability of burning at 16x . burning at 8x is reliable . Like chewy asked, what are you watching it on/with ( standalone player, PC with which software ,ect ect ??) to be able to say its "horrible playback" ?? I cant see its burn speed related as the following info is from your log I 19:36:20 Average Write Rate: 7,779 KB/s (5.6x) - Maximum [/color]Write Rate: 8,529 KB/s (6.2x) which is as slow as you can burn with that media and as mentioned earlier, it was a sucsessfull burn . ImgBurn only burns what you give it, so what goes in = what comes out . unless whatever you played it back on doesnt like those discs, the only other thing is low quality in = low quality out. OR if you've eddited the original file in any way shape or form ( compressed it maybe) then a problem could lye within the edditing/alteration process of the file( what goes into IB is what comes out, all IB does is burn the Image its told to) Your using +R media , have you tried -R media as well ?
  4. oh dear , you couldn wait could you, despite this reply HERE you figured wrong VERBATIM , VERBATIM ,VERBATIM and NOTHING else now do you get the message ?? your drive does not like those discs you bought , thats what the error is telling you. its struggling to even read them , at least you only have 15 of these as opposed to 25 of the matrix ones you had
  5. No No No No No No No No No No , DONT RECOMEND these discs, although they worked for you on this occasion , but there's every chance they wont work when you get the next batch, or may even become unreadable as timegoes on This is why EVERYBODY in here recomends verbatim for dual layer and nothing else. they are the only consistent media for dual layer. Ive posted this for the benefit of anyone else who searches the forum regarding dual layer media
  6. several things the drive you mention is NOT limited to -R dual layer media. Quote from the link you gave " What most will be happy to know is that the SH-S182M does support bit-setting and you can set Nero (spit) to automatically set the booktype to DVD-ROM prior to burning +R media." so you CAN use +R dual layer media the first dual layer disc you used HP DVD+R DL 2.4x (CMC MAG-D01-00) was just a low quality one, which is more than likely why it wouldnt work go for the verbatim +R dual layer and write at 2 or 4 speed . post a full log of a burn with normal single layer discs for us, and we may be able to help you a bit more most multi frive burners will happily write to single or dual layer media, most drives will happily write to taiyo yuden 8x or verbatim single layer discs likewise, most dual layer drives will write to verbatim datalife +R dual layer media as well
  7. that did'nt work ! , i cant reach the keyboard now
  8. sadly theres only 3 decent brands that are consistently reliable now single layer -R 4.7Gb taiyo yuden ( Ty brand) single layer -R 4.7Gb verbatims Dual layer use ONLY genuine Verbatim datalifeplus
  9. There are some very good step by step guides at this link link To Guides HERE which may be of help to you if your unsure about the process choose what you actually want to do in the list of guides then click it and follow that guide
  10. install Imgburn on the other machine upstairs, put a blank disc in it, then post the log file again , OR just try it and burn it anyway
  11. have you tried another brand of disc ? it appears your drive just doesnt like those disc your using . you could look for a firmware update for the NEC drive which may overcome the problem
  12. TV format ?
  13. Confirmation of that fact is to look at the writing after a posters post ( their signature)
  14. just leave ImgBurn at default settings if you want Data files on the disc, just use build mode and select files then burn if you want DVD files on the disc, as long as they are in dvd compliant file format , ImgBurn will recognise this and burn as a dvd
  15. i wont tell you your media is bad quality , but check out this list and find a reputable reliable manufacturer within it http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmediasearch is it ONLY with this media you get the problem ? or si it with ALL brands of media ? update your firmware as well, your on A101, the latest for that drive is A106 , your 5 updates behind !! I 22:28:51 Destination Device: [0:2:0] HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B A101 (D:) (ATA) EDIT Donta beat me to it LOL
  16. as per LUK's post above , Matshita dont make what you call a "good" drive . theres several mentions of matshita drives on the forum, and none of them are good i'm afraid . go for the external approach like LUK mentioned
  17. I'm sure I read earlier that LUK "had no interest with Languages at the moment " for ImgBurn
  18. try changing the write speed to 8x instead of max as well and if that fails, chance one at 4x
  19. now you know why he's called "Lightning"
  20. http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content...ostal%20Strikes or answer B it wandered off topic ?
  21. dont know how an Ipod is formatted, but sounds like FAT32 , where you cant have files larger than 4gb
  22. guides section = HERE choose wether you want to build to hard drive or build to disc
  23. if you ARE using FAT32 file system, then carry on as you are, ut point to the MDS file when you come to burn it. simplified, the MDS ,in effect, IS the "ISO" ,which points to all the parts ( i00,i01,i02 ect ect) and burns them in the right orderit in the right order. you MUST keep the MDS and all the parts in the same directory though for it to work sucsessfully
  24. what do you normally play dvd with on your PC ? do you have an AC3 filter installed ?
  25. LOL :
