    Burn Rate

FYI trying to burn at 16x doesn't acomplish anything the quality of the burns drops off after 12x , Id say most of the Beta Team burn at 8x and the numbers are constantly in the 90's (%) As for media Verbatim +and - ,Taiyo Yuden discs are definetly the way to go everything else is trash by comparison ,you can look in the media and drives forum see what the quality is for the different media and also www.digitalFAQ.com has media listings If you get into Dual Layer stuff Verbatin is the ONLY discs to use
  3. since you didn't name the media we have no way of knowing if its junk or not ,we do recommend Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden discs and only the Verbatim dual layer discs, all others are garbage IMGburn doesn't take the place of Daemon Tools they are complely different IB is a burning program and Daemon is a media player a virtual drive Missing NTLDR this is some possible things to look for, you can check with GOOGLE Missing NTLDR Missing NTLDR Computer is booting from a non-bootable source. Computer hard disk drive is not properly setup in BIOS. Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file. Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32. New hard disk drive being added. Corrupt boot sector / master boot record. Seriously corrupted version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable.
  4. your drive will burn media at speeds that is supported by the firmware (supported write speeds in the log ) honestly you're wasting time and effort with those discs like its been said Verbatim is the way the ONLY way. get 1 and see for yourself " Another issue that im wondering about is the wHAT Happens when u buy media that runs at say x4 or x8 but your dvd drive for DL only writes at x2 (and i think x4). Do the x8 disks default to x2 or are they set at those speeds." they should default to a speed supported by the firmware ,although the media is rated for say 8X it will default to a speed that the drive has a write strategy for
  5. will you burn something at 8X instead of max to see what happens ,your max speed was 15x+ but quality really drops after 12X you could try a change of media Verbatim aor Taiyo Yudens preferred check the FAQ section on the "threshold warning " PS post as much as you like its not a problem, thats what this forum is about trying to get some help and answers W 23:31:15 AnyDVD can interfere with ImgBurn's ability to verify accurately, please ensure it's disabled This is from your log ( yes its a proper log ), anydvd has been known to create problems disable it when you're burning it especially affects verifys
  6. if its PAL then your US player wont support it if you post the model of the player we can verify it
  7. I'd say its time to start thinking about a new OS although 98 works its no longer supported by Microsoft if another comp can play it then there is obviously something on it and it burned correctly ,if you use + media the Pioneer will automatically booktype the disc to dvd rom and make it more compatible with dvd players. You should also download Media Player Classic (free) and use it as your playback software on your 98 machine or PowerDvd .Windows Media Player is not the best at playing dvd's. Try playing the disc on a friends player see what happens
  8. I 00:44:38 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-D01-67) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x) this isn't helping your cause either we stress that Verbatim dual layer discs are the only ones that work right maybe if you could get 1 Verb and try it it might save a lot of headaches
  9. I think you're a bit confused here ,what you posted is not a log of a verifyed disc just disc info taken from the dvd and that info is not encrypted . To verify a disc you first need to have an ISO image that has no encryption on your hard drive and then in the Verify stage IB checks the ISO against the burned disc for a 1:1 copy. You can check IB's ability to read commercial dvd's for yourself by doing the following . Open IMGburn and put a store bought dvd in your drive and select READ mode and see how far you get BTW it can't, won't, and never will read store bought dvd's for legal reasons
  10. dontasciime, 1) Yeah your probably right about this. Although if anyone else is using a LG 4163b dvd drive please let me know if you are having any success with other dvd DL medias aside from Verbatim and MKM. Umediscs seem to crash and burn for me. 2) Im a great advocate of googling but in this case based on such a great site and knowledge base is it possible to ask if DD even has a freeware alternative. 3) On a seperate not despite setting up my avatar in profile settings why doesnt it appear in my posts under user name? #1 after much testing Verbatim dual layer discs are the ONLY discs that work right all others are inferior and most of the time cant even be burned to completion #2 we cant offer you any advice on bypassing copyright protection or any programs that can, its a legal issue and the ability to rip was what put the author in trouble and put an end to decrypter
  11. IMGburn will not read/rip any commercial dvd's because they are encrypted, you'll get the following error message I just checked 3 dvd's ,The Marine ,Flags of Our Fathers and Idlewild and its the same with all three E 07:05:27 Failed to read Sector 214528 - Read of Scrambled Sector Without Authentication E 06:58:59 Failed to read Sector 26240 - Read of Scrambled Sector Without Authentication E 07:02:59 Failed to read Sector 1152 - Read of Scrambled Sector Without Authentication
  12. we just dont discuss ripping movies here or ripping software its a legal thing and what brought down decrypter Id say your problem is media related you can burn to crap media but to verify them is a different story, name brand means nothing its the dye manufacturer thats most important you can see who makes the dye by putting a disc in the burner and then reading from the window, copy and paste it with your next post .We only recommend Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media as they are the best there is

Almost as good as Kevdrivers av' a choice I'd love to have to take
  14. IMGburn will not read/rip any commercial dvd's ,it can be used to verify an ISO image that you have on your HD against the burned disc , playability is about media and standalone player compatibility,If IB burns and verifys the disc chances are it will play fine we recommend using good meedia that is Verbatim and Yuden discs for single layer and Verbatim +r DL for dual layer and only Verbatim for dual layer
  15. also what is the source of the ISO ,it may not be properly made lots more info please
  16. I have burnt 100s of the CMC MAG discs, I have them in batches of 300, I used to use the old DVD Decryypter to burn them and moved to imgburn a while ago (few months), my successful burn % is something like 98%, if I do get failures it's because either I have been doing something far to processor intensive, or I have been careless with the media prior to burning. I do verify all media after the burns. I STRESS I have had NO problems with the previous version of imgburn (which I have now rolled back to). I burn around 30 discs per month and have for years. My experience with the CMCs has been no different to far more expensive discs. it also ONLY happens on the Samsung drive and NOT the NEC drive. This is reproducable and would logically point to a bug in the software. if it was media, both drives would be affected and sometimes the Samsung drive would work OK....but it doesn't I guess if you're happy with CMC MAG then any recommendation from the forum wont change your mind .There are countless posts where members had and still have problems with those discs and by changing to Verbs or Yudens their issues went away .There has been many burns and scans with different drives of this media and all have been substandard its not an opinion but fact that they are second rate media .You mention the far more expensive media but theres not that big of a gap a few cents at most, my last media buy was Verbatim +R I got 200 for $53 and the Memorex on the same shelf were more expensive .You just have to shop for the best deals and sales and buy accordingly . Not all drives like all media ,its a matter of finding media that is compatible with your drive and some drives dont like + some - even of the high end stuff. I have NEC drives and they love Verbs and Yudens , I 've burned to Phillips (cmc mag experiment and free discs ) and they verifyed but a few months later they dont play back without issues and some can't be read without read errors . Try and read some of the CMC's that you burned a year ago and see what happens About being a reproducable bug it really isn't, its a compatibility problem with drive/media, try different formats that may solve your problem rolling back to the previous version is OK if that works for you but you dont have the read capability of 2.2 a nice feature
  17. #1 buffers being around 100% is a great thing ,means that the data is being constantly fed to your burner #2 thats the file size limit when using FAT32 file system ,you dont have the limit when using NTFS (default winXP) ,if you want to convert to NTFS you can do so without losing any data ,you can Google convert fat 32 to ntfs for specifics #3 thats self explanatory update the drivers ,go to the MB manufacturers website and download the latest ones for your MBoard ,when the drive is not locked then the possibility of some other program accessing the drive and ruining the burn #4 from looking at your log yes the burn turned out fine ,it will play on any standalone that supports playback of Dual Layer media ,for more compatibility you can booktype the DL+R's to dvd rom if your burner supports it .Imgburn main window click on the little book icon in the lower right corner , select the LG tab and "change for DL media" and new setting "DVD Rom "

I asked about this some time back in the Beta Forum and this was LUK's reply
  20. see if theres a firmware update for the drive might be all it needs to recognize the +R discs at more supported speeds. You see what we've been saying all along about the Verbs and TY's they're just so far above the other medias its not funny They are smart people at SVP by sending you a few or more discs I'm sure they've made another loyal customer who will give them more orders ,they handle things the old fashioned way happy customers spend money

    need a brit

a few are even outsourcing and buying the Verb DL's from here in the States
  22. Open IMGburn ,Tools ,Settings ,Defaults and then let it be buy good media Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media and you're off to the races
  23. there isn't much news on the page that doesn't go along with new releases as you can see the versions are from its beginning to the current 2.2 version .If you wanted to keep closer tabs on new releases then you could go to Tools -->Settings--> Events and have the program "Check for Program Updates " and select daily, all changes are covered and explained in the Change Log also (whats new ).There isn't a daily update of info on the web page .
  24. why? what does it have to do with burning images and video files
