  1. How old is this PS2? If it's one of the original 2000 fat models, that might explain it. Early DVD-R's burned back in 2002 were 50/50 for playing back with skips in the video. Try playing one of these discs in your PC burner and see if it does the same thing. You say the ISO plays fine, so I'm guessing you either mounted in as a virtual drive and played it or you loaded the ISO in a video player software that supports playing back DVD Video ISO's. If you get no skips playing the ISO however you're playing it, then the video that was created is not corrupt. You can be relatively sure the DVD Video you created is fine. If the ISO played back with skips in the video, then it's the problem of whatever created your DVD video. Now, the PS2 could simply have a problem playing back the video codec used to compress your DVD. On the fat model 2000 PS2, it was common for created DVD video discs to have audio and video go out of synch when you had user created DVD video. If that's the problem, then the issue is with the software that created the DVD video you used. Your best bets at this point are to find someone with a DVD player, or get one yourself, and try one of these discs in something other than your PS2. You can also try you PC DVD burner as a player and see if you still get it. If the ISO plays fine, if the PC plays with skips, if the PS2 plays with skips, and if a DVD player you try plays with skips, the problem is playing back the disc. If the problem is with the disc, the problem is how it was burned or is being read. If it's a burn problem, the issue is with your PC burner probably not liking that media. Without knowing the DID/MID of any discs you used, I can't tell if they're cheap discs. If they're cheap discs, burn and playback problems are relatively common.
  2. Well, you say the ISO plays fine. Ergo, the problem cannot be in the video itself. It must therefore be in playback of the DVD disc you burned. This means it's a problem with the DVD burner or the DVD player.
  3. My guess is it's either the burner or the player does not like the kind of media you're writing the ISO files to. Post a log of one of these burns. When you say other labels, do you mean more than one manufacturer of DVD's? However, it doesn't matter the label on the package but the actual manufacturer of the disc. Unless you're using Verbatim DataLife Plus series (NOT Life Series found in stores. DataLife Plus is only found online.) you've probably got CMC media, which can result in low quality burns that can cause skips on playback. Or low quality media like CMC can cause skips on playbacks in DVD players even when they do burn. Since you say the IVO (I guess you mean ISO?) plays correct, it's down to the media somehow. Either your drive doesn't like that media for burning or playback or your DVD player, if it's a standalone, doesn't like that type of DVD brand.
  4. Unfortunately, I don't have any such files where it fails on to test with. It generally happens on incorrectly formatted MP3's. I just load them into an audio file converter and resave them as FLAC's. This fixes the problem, whatever it is. If I did come across a bad MP3, I just saved it as a new FLAC. So, I didn't keep any bad files for testing.
  5. When you load files into the Create CUE interface, they are Analysed from 0% to 100% as the entire duration time is scanned. If a file cannot be imported because it's not supported or is not formatted correctly, it will not not import. If it's not supported, it will simply file to import right at the very start. If it's not formatted correctly, Analysing will stop at the point where it fails to process and ImgBurn will "hang" briefly while it retries. After a certain timeout period of retries, it will say it failed.
  6. I successfully imported a test M4A. I didn't actually create the CD because most failures of this kind would occur at the importing stage. And I don't know if I needed madFLAC or not for this. It was already installed so if it is necessary, I already had it.
  7. I know you have to install something to get FLAC to work because LUK directed me to madFLAC when FLAC didn't work natively. I could have just tried an M4A since I have 2 lying around.
  8. Can ImgBurn create an Audio CD with Create CUE File from CD tracks ripped to Apple Lossless Codec .M4A files created by iTunes? If so, does it need a specific set of "codecs" installed like FLAC requires madFLAC installed? Thanks!
  9. You will never have ISO files in a VIDEO_TS folder. In fact, if you did, the resulting DVD probably wouldn't play if you had anything else other than VOB, IFO, and BUP files. ISO is the file type and file name extension of the image file Build mode will create and Write mode will burn. Unless you specify file splitting in the ImgBurn settings, which are more advanced user settings. Then, the file won't be named with a .ISO extension at the end.
  10. There is no Build option to tick under Tools. Build is under Mode. Write won't do anything without an image that was built in Build mode. Or under EZ Mode Picker, choose Write files/folders to disc. This will do a write without building an image to hard disk first. You should really follow a Guide at this point. Try this one: Now, if you're building a DVD Video that requires a double layer disc, there's this guide for that: However, there's really little difference beyond setting the layer break position for double layer discs.
  11. Yes, some PS1 discs cannot be read by ImgBurn burn in some drives. Try installing Alcohol 120% Free. That's what I do whenever I needed a PS1 game read to an image file that was stuck in an infinite Analysing Tracks loop.
  12. No. Once you import a VIDEO_TS folder into a Build job in ImgBurn, the program will ask you if you want to change the necessary settings for a DVD Video disc. If you accept the settings changes, the DVD Video disc will have all of its necessary settings set automatically. As long as the video in the VIDEO_TS starts playing automatically, the resulting disc you burn will start playing automatically. As long as it burns successfully and your player doesn't have problems with the disc you're using to burn to.
  13. Are you using a different Blu-Ray combo drive on the Windows 7 PC versus the burner you're using on the Windows 10 PC? I still say your problem is that drive on the Windows 7 PC is the problem. Either it's reached the end of its life or it is just a lousy drive. Now, if you're using the same model burner in both PC's, that would say that the only problem could be the Windows 7 PC copy of that model has a problem with it. The only way you'd know for sure is to install the Windows 7 PC burner in the Windows 10 PC and see if you still get failed burns. If you do, then the problem is that drive.
  14. Every year I pass along the lyrics from cynical Christmas song I like. I forget if I did this one or not already: The Night Santa Went Crazy (Extra Gory Version) by "Weird Al" Yankovic: Down in the workshop all the elves were making toys For the good Gentile girls and the good Gentile boys When the boss busted in, nearly scared 'em half to death Had a rifle in his hands and cheap whiskey on his breath From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo Like a big fat drunk disgruntled Yuletide Rambo And he smiled as he said, with a twinkle in his eye, "Merry Christmas to all, now you're all gonna die!" The night Santa went crazy The night St. Nick went insane Realized he'd been gettin' the raw deal Something finally must have snapped in his brain Well, the workshop is gone now, he decided to bomb it Everywhere you'll find pieces of Cupid and Comet And he tied up his helpers and he held the elves hostage And he ground up poor Rudolph into reindeer sausage He got Dancer and Prancer with an old German Luger And he slashed up Dasher just like Freddie Krueger And he picked up a flamethrower and he barbecued Blitzen And he took a big bite and said, "It tastes just like chicken!" The night Santa went crazy The night Kris Kringle went nuts Now you can hardly walk around the North Pole Without stepping in reindeer guts There's the National Guard and the F. B. I. There's a van from the Eyewitness News And helicopters circling around in the sky And the bullets are flying, the body count's rising And everyone's dyin' to know, oh Santa, why? My my my my my my You used to be such a jolly guy Yes, Virginia, now Santa's doing time In a federal prison for his infamous crime Hey, little friend, now don't you cry no more tears He'll be out with good behavior in seven hundred more years But now Vixen's in therapy and Donner's still nervous And the elves all got jobs working for the postal service And they say Mrs. Claus, she's on the phone every night With her lawyer negotiating the movie rights They're talkin' 'bout The night Santa went crazy The night St. Nicholas flipped Broke his back for some milk and cookies Sounds to me like he was tired of getting gypped Wo-oh, the night Santa went crazy The night St. Nick went insane Realized he'd been gettin' a raw deal Something finally must have snapped in his brain Wo-oh, something finally must have snapped in his brain Tell ya, something finally must have snapped, in his brain
  15. Yeah, it doesn't take 2 hours to complete an erase operation, even a Full erase on a 1x DVD-RW disc takes only 1 hour. Are you able to complete a Format operation in File Explorer? If you got this to work an a different PC with Windows 7, did you use the SAME kind of DVD writer? A TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M SB04? If so, that might explain why it worked on one PC but not another. It's probably not the Windows 7 installation that's the problem, but a combination of drive and media combination not liking each other. That drive may not simply like that Ricoh kind of DVD+RW. You may have better luck trying a better quality disc, like a Verbatim DataLife Plus DVD+RW. NOT a Life Series one. DataLife Plus you can only find in online stores or from Verbatim's online store. Many posters have compatibility issues with their drives and Ricoh media. Ricoh media can be anywhere in quality between a good 2nd tier media and a lower quality one.
  16. I don't see the problem here. Other than you can't format DVD-R and CD-R except as giant floppies in Windows/File Explorer. Is ImgBurn actually returning an error in the log when you're trying to write an image to a disc? Or are you saying it never gets past Erasing Disc when you use a DVD+RW that you're trying to write an image to? If so, how long did you wait for the Erase to complete before giving up?
  17. DVD Audio might use AUDIO_TS but it's generally a series of menus that are contained in VIDEO_TS. Very few DVD's ever actually took advantage of AUDIO_TS. I've never seen one that didn't have an empty AUDIO_TS. Nowadays, most new DVD's don't even have the folder in the root directory. Which, as you said, can be problematic with older DVD players. I guess their thinking is that, by now, you've already cycled out old DVD players by now.
  18. AUDIO_TS is not the reason. As long as you import a VIDEO_TS folder, regardless of whatever else you add, ImgBurn always asks you if you want to make a DVD Video disc and if it should make the appropriate changes for you. As long as the VIDEO_TS folder contains compliant content. Well, ImgBurn SHOULD. If it's not, then the VIDEO_TS folder must not be compliant. Even if you add an AUDIO_TS with a compliant VIDEO_TS, it will work. The only important thing is the VIDEO_TS folder. Anything else you add will not make a compliant VIDEO_TS not a DVD Video disc.
  19. Actually, it doesn't matter if you have other folders besides VIDEO_TS. In fact, the DVD Video standard also generally includes an AUDIO_TS folder. However, 99% of the time, AUDIO_TS is empty, so you can get by without using it. But, DVD's often times have extra files and folders in the root directory as extra features. Generally referred to as DVD-ROM Features.
  20. Well, I did mention the VIDEO_TS folder in my first reply.
  21. Eh, it happens. I was mostly being facetious. As I said before, before you proceed, you need to test that your source MKV plays okay and that the VIDEO_TS you're trying to burn is DVD Video compliant. Before going on, if they are corrupt somehow, no number of burns you make will make a difference. However, your new errors with a new drive are something entirely different, it seems.
  22. I always used WinImage to make images of my floppies, particularly bootable ones. So, why you can't get it to work is beyond me.
  23. I hope it's okay to recommend DVDShrink to test with in this case; I already did that earlier! I didn't think to ask. VLC would also work; I also recommended Media Player Classic Home Cinema since that's what I use.
  24. You should still check the VIDEO_TS output and make sure it actually plays. There's no guarantee DVD Flick made the contents right. If the VIDEO_TS folder isn't DVD Video compliant, using Nero won't make a difference.
  25. I agree. Try something better than Riteks. I know on my PS3, Ritek BD media causes skips during playback. Verbatim BD-R don't. So, try some Verbatim BD-R and see if your drive likes those better.
