Ken Kutaragi, head of Sony's global computer entertainment division, said the machine would still be launched in November in the US and in Japan. Mr Kutaragi blamed the European delay on problems in mass producing elements of the high-definition Blu-ray disc drives in the machines. Sony said it still aimed to ship six million new PlayStations by March. The delay means Microsoft's Xbox 360, which was launched last year, will enjoy another Christmas without facing a challenge from Sony in Europe. Nintendo's Wii console is also scheduled for a worldwide release this autumn, although no firm date has been set. Speaking at Sony's global headquarters in Tokyo, Mr Kutaragi apologised for the delays to the PlayStation 3 launch. But he said Sony had decided to focus on the US and Japan in the run-up to Christmas. "I am so sorry not to be able to answer all the expectations," Mr Kutaragi said.

For media you could try, www.meritline.com, they sell Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden I believe and if possible get either of those. As ken said above you seem to have DMA issues as well as ImgBurn is set to Max burn speed so it should at least get to 4x speed when burning your project yet it's stuck at 1x speed. Yeah that's a good suggestion - ignore the trained chimp on the phone and pretend you have done all their tests, then say its vital you have this drive as you regularly back up your important home videos to DVD.

I need to find your other post on drive problems I think db - I have used ZA for a couple of years and not seen any problems with it. In fact I have recommended it to many friends - for the cost I don't think you can beat it. I assume you may have already tried to contact ZA about this issue ?

Can you also give us a bit more information ? For instance is there any log at all in the smaller box under the one you have shown above ? If not please can you open ImgBurn, select write mode, pop one of those discs in the drive and then copy the information that appears in the window on the right ? Saves a lot of guessing on our part !

I have never used the Lightscribe polo - I bought that one cos at the time the DW1650 without LS was even harder to get ! I have some LS discs that came with it but I still prefer my white printable discs.

If you have been changing the settings it would be worth your while restoring the defaults - they really do work best for 99% of people
