I have some of these discs from a few years back - I loved them !! Problem is yesterday me and Mrs lfcrule1972 were watching the second series of 24 which was backed up onto them, 2 hours into the first disc and lovely pixellations, now onto second disc and there is a nice dark smudge in the dye that wasn't there when I first burnt/verified these discs..... Seems the shelf life on the these older Traxdata's is not as long as I had hoped - still got 4 more discs of the series to go - may have to dig out the original box set if all the discs are going bad....

I just looked at LUK!'s scans at 12x and 10 with the NEC for the ProdiscF02, seems like a slower burn moved the spike towards the end of the disc whilst the 10x burn seemed to remove it all together ! I still wouldn't recommend 16x discs tho at the moment - why pay for faster burns when in reality you get lesser quality ?

Mmm I do wonder why discs are certified at 16x (take the TYG03's for e.g) when plainly their best burn quality is achieved at 8x-12x.... Is it so that the manufacturer can claim to have a 16x disc ? I agree with LUK!, if the disc is rated at a certain speed it should, for the purposes of the tests be burnt at that speed tho as that is what the majority of purchasers would do.... Pleased you found the tests useful tho Nemesis, hopefully others will as well....

See this is where I am not sure about the scans, to me I always look to get above 90% burn quality, ideally 95%. That said the standalone players seem to cope ok with lesser quality burns..... So are there any hard and fast rules for a minimum burn quality % ?

No thats fine as long as it verified ok ! You might notice that the media can always burn slightly higher than the certified speeds - for example all my Taiyo Yuden 8x TYG02 burn at 8.3x..... Its nothing to worry about

Ok I am not clear on this, in your post you talk about ImgBurn, which is ok as that is what this forum is for, the log is from ImgTool Burn which is a completely different program and we don't support ImgTool Burn..........
