If you searched for 'cdrom' how many hits did you get then?

It could be that another program is interfering with the burning process. That program is locking the drive before ImgBurn can do it. It seems by the posted log that the first time you burn - there is a locking - and the second time you reburn the same image - there is no locking. There is a FAQ entry for this issue. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=975

Noticed from your other thread that you have updated the firmware. Can you post a log of one of those failed burns? You'll find it here: Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs
-
The burned files wile be in the same shape as the source files, so I doubt a new burn will help you.

Hi and welcome to the forum, wanderer! ImgBurn just burns the source and doesn't change anything in the video/sound. Could be that the sound is in a format that is not supported by the two other players, like in DTS format. It could also be that the sound is not enabled by default, due to wrong settings in the players internal menus.

Hi and welcome to the forum, freekie! It's a SATA writer, so I would suspect the connection/chip set drivers. It's a laptop you are using? Latest chip set drivers installed? Also that media brand can have a various quality lewel. Have you tried with another brand?

Can't see were they are made, but Verbatims should work. I liked this row in the page...

CDB error is usually when you burn more than the disc can hold. But I have no clue why the size of the discs suddenly went down in size compared to your fist log.

Try to uninstall it as in the FAQ and restart the computer. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=967

Hi and welcome to the forum, alex1234! http://forum.imgburn.com/lofiversion/index.php/t7401.html I think you should start with the the drivers for the motherboard and/or uninstall the writer and let Windows reinstall it. Have you burned anything else with success with this writer? Do you know if the chip set drivers are Nvidia on the mother board? Edit: According to the Asus page you have the latest firmware installed.

Hi and welcome to the forum, ronjigga22! Your images size is very small and the padding makes it be to big even for a DL disc. So I can't understand why you want to spend a DL disc on such a small file, when you could burn it to a regular DVD?

It's said that the 1GB pieces is needed for stand alone players. I tested a disc that had the main movie in the same VOB file some time ago and no playback problems on my player. Might only be an issue for very old players. Some software programs doesn't like VOB files bigger than 1GB, such as PgcEdit.

The last firmware update was two years ago. I doubt they will release anything new for that writer.

The 'Auto' is if you have set up the write speed combinations (writer/discs) in the function you can find here: Main Menu -> Tools -> Automatic Write Speed If it has not been set up - it will go for max speed and in your case - 8x. Test mode only works on -R media.

Hi and welcome to the forum, entheta! (Disc ID: RITEK-F16-01) (Speeds: 4x; 8x) Those discs can be of various quality. Have you tried to burn at 4x speed? I also tried to find a later firmware for that writer, but I couldn't find any.

Hi and welcome to the forum, dock98! I guess your associations in Windows are wrong. In the ImgBurn settings: Select the file associations you want to be linked to ImgBurn and check mark the option 'Set ImgBurn As Default Application' and press 'OK'.

Not sure I understand you. Do you want it to be DVD-ROM or not? Now it seems as you want it on single layer +R media. I got the impression that you didn't want the book type function at all. The amount of stuff you can put on the disc has nothing to do with if you book type or not. The only reason for book type is that the disc can be/might be easier to read/get to play on older stand alone players. If you need/want book type On Nec/Optiarc writers it's the easiest to install a modified firmware that does the book type on +R media automatic for you. No muddle with the the book type settings at all.

You could use SIW (freeware) and see under the 'Motherboard' section on the brand of the bridges. http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

There is a program that reverts it back to 500 - so don't worry about using up the allowed changes. By default in Nec firmware - +R DL is book typed to DVD-ROM. Have you tried to restart the comptuer to see what the current setting is for the ones that you can't revert back to non DVD-ROM?
-
Book type doesn't apply on -R discs.

Hi and welcome to the forum, unearth187! One thing that could be the issue is that DMA is no longer enabled for your writer. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=967

This is the one. The semaphore timeout period has expired.
