  1. Hi and welcome to the forum, heszar! Are those Verbatims you got a write error with, Made in Singapore or India? Tried to burn at 2.4x speed? There is a later firmware for that writer. http://www.sonynec-optiarc.eu/en/support-s...-ad-series.html If you flash/update it: No disc in the writer Tray closed All other programs closed
  2. Hi and welcome to the forum, fino! The problem is that your burning was not very good, the disc can't be read. Can you post the full log of that failed burning? It should give some more clues. Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs There is a later firmware for that writer to install if it's a Gateway computer. The firmware is what makes the media/writer to understand each other. http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers...mp;uid=11975959 If you flash/update the firmware: No disc in the writer Tray closed All other programs closed
  3. This list should give you a clue on what others have experienced with your player. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
  4. If the laser in your writer is not good at writing at high speeds, lower speeds might give you more success.
  5. Here is the 1DS2 firmware. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...p;fileid=143301 If/when you flash the Sony writer: No disc in the writer Tray closed All other programs closed
  6. No, the worst that could happen is that you get a writing error.
  7. To me it looks as your Sony drivers firmware don't support/like that media. There should be a later firmware for that writer - 1DS2. If it's a Dell computer - look at the Dell web page.
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum, weeza! Booktype/setting only applies to + media. It might be that you should try to get some + media and see if your stand alone player like that media better. Is it an old player? Model?
  9. It looks as there is a later firmware RL01. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/...ware-RL01.shtml There should also be a version RL02 - but I can't find a download link.
  10. Hi and welcome to the forum, Jaxon70! The last firmware update for that writer was released in october 2005. I doubt you get much luck of burning DL discs with that writer. You might get some more luck if you crossflash it to be a Lite-On writer and by that using the Lite-On firmware.
  11. I tried yesterday to find any new firmware on the Asus pages, the only one I could find was version 1.00.
  12. Sounds to me as the is a printing error in your manual. ISO966* must be ISO9660.
  13. The Discovery mode is nice to use for this purpose. Burn three discs at 8x/12x/16x (or one for a faster speed if you have a writer that supports 18-22x), then use either Nero DiscSpeed or DVDInfoPro to see how good those burns actually were. The tricky thing with the scanning is that you need to get a reader/writer that can do those scans, not all readers/writers are suited for that. Older Benq's and later Lite-On's seems to be nice for this purpose.
  14. If possible, set it 2.4x Just restart the computer before the next try.
  15. Hi and welcome to the forum, Greger1990! There is a later firmware 1.04 for that writer. http://www.sonynec-optiarc.eu/en/support-s...-nd-series.html When you update it: No disc in the tray Tray closed All other programs closed
  16. The rule for the Indian made DL discs seems to be to find a writer that likes them. Later released writers seems to like them and you do have a rather new one, but I don't think you know for sure before you have tried with one of the Indian ones with your new firmware.
  17. Hi and welcome to the forum, davidw! You have version 1.01 of the firmware installed for the burner. The media you are using might get better writing results with an updated version. There is a later version, 1.04. http://www.sonynec-optiarc.eu/en/support-s...-nd-series.html When you update the firmware: No disc in the writer Tray closed All other programs closed Check if DMA is enabled. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=967 There is also a later firmware for your Lite-On Writer - version XY13. http://www.liteonit.com.tw/global/index.ph...&Itemid=154 http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DOWNLOADS/ODD/D...are/DRWXY13.zip
  18. Looks as we all use old versions.
  19. If the laptop is a Sony Vaio, there is a 1.11 version here of the firmware. But it would be safer for you to check on the Vaio webpage. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/...-841S-111.shtml I agree with mmalves that it's not the best/modern writer to use these days.
  20. Hi and welcome to the forum, tdowning! Test mode is only used if you want to perform a run with all the including writing steps that are normally carried out while burning, except the laser is not turned on so nothing is written to the disc and it's not wasted. So it's nothing that is needed to do on a regular mode, it's just a test. If you want to burn that amount of copies, just change the drop down list to be set to the amount you wish and start the burning.
  21. Hi and welcome to the forum, x82nd! There is a short description in this guide http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=66439 how you create a boot able disc in ImgBurn. Look under the 'Bootable Disc' in the above post regarding 'Build mode'.
  22. Thanks! Glad you got your problem solved!
  23. I'm still using my Verbatim CD RW discs I bought five years ago. So I haven't tested the various brands at all. I think Taiyo Yuden should be the best available. Test mode will only go through the burning process without switching the laser on. So the disc will not be written to. You don't need to this before every write. It's just a testing option. Verify mode is done after the writing stage and checks that the disc can be read and is the same as the source. Dumb question: When you had problem to load the cd disc in the DVD writer - you had switched to that writer in the write selector destination drop down list box first? This is the selector I'm trying to descibe:
  24. It looks as your CD writer don't like the media you are using. It's also a rather old writer. This is from your log: This is how it looks if the media is supported in the writers firmware - there is an available speeds string description also.
  25. Can you post the log of that burn? You find it here: Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs You didn't have 'test mode' enabled?
