  1. My own personal thoughts on the search functions in forums (not only this one) is that they are tricky to deal with. It's much easier to search through Google. Just add forum.imgburn.com in the search row and you get what you want with as many characters you will search on. It's now even possible to use Google directly in this forum if you use the Google Custom Search window above the old forum search window. Regarding DMA issues, XP was notorious on dropping back to PIO mode on burners/readers. Vista + Windows 7 I've never encountered it personally.
  2. Post the solution in this thread, and the admin can merge the two threads.
  3. Either that there is no empty disc in the burner or that it might perhaps not be a burner. Can you post a log?
  4. Here's my 1 cent. True. But that it should be stuck in test mode, I've never heard of. I've had burners that could burn, but could never initiate/read the burned disc. It could be read by other burners/readers. Indicating a dying burner. Have you tried with some higher quality media? Usually happens with low quality media. What media code/brand have you used when you burned DVDs? DVD Decrypters verify mode is a bit different than ImgBurn. DVDD only checks that the disc can be read. It's not comparing the burned data to the source data.
  5. In some of the logs you posted last, you have tried to reuse used discs. The ones that are new discs, pretty much indicates that the burner is struggling with those discs. Any chance you can try with some better quality of media, like Verbatim? The low speed could indicate DMA issues or just that the burner is struggling with the burn. DMA fix: Main Menu -> Tools -> Reset DMA
  6. Here we use ImgBurn, not Roxio products... Can you burn with ImgBurn and post a log?
  7. No, the issue is not what it burns, it's on what it burns. The discs you are using are not top quality.
  8. Some modern burners can't burn lower than 4x. So the only way to know is to use the burned disc. If you have a Lite-On burner you can do a quality scan on the burned disc to know for fact how good the burn was. Other than that, the verify option should at least tell you that it can be read.
  9. I would say it can't burn faster than 4x. It's still possible a lower write rate is supported. Look in the disc info panel in the right side when you have inserted a disc and are in write mode. The info there will tell you the possible/supported speeds.
  10. Are there any other files in the VIDEO_TS folder on the burned disc other than the ones that ends with .bup/.ifo/.vob?
  11. Have you tried any of the lower write speeds other than the current one 6x?
  12. What's the type of files you added in that folder? Do they look something like this?
  13. Verify could be a nice thing to have enabled.
  14. Some sort of game you burned? In what "hardware" are you trying to read the disc?
  15. Did you have the similar issues with the burner you replaced?
  16. This looks like an issue with single layer discs. But burning at 20x with that burner on Verbatims shouldn't be a problem. Just tried one made in Taiwan.
  17. Have you tried a lower write speed such as 8x? Could be that 20x is to high and the burn is that crappy that it can't be read.
  18. Did the computer came with that burner pre installed? Edit: Saw that you bought if afterwards. Have you tried to connect it to another SATA connector inside the computer?
  19. I would go for an Optiarc 724x/726x model and mount it in an external USB cabinet. But there are also other brands that works. I'm just devoted to Optiarcs these days.
  20. Sounds as there is something in the first DVD players setup menu that only plays the first selected clip and not continues to the next one(s).
  21. What happens if you in Windows Explorer right click on the VIDEO_TS.iFO file and then select open with and then select Windows Media Player. Will that play the two clips after each other?
  22. According to this ACER page you have nVidia chipset. http://support.acer.com/us/en/product_support.aspx?tab=1 There is an option to find motherboards drivers by automatic in option 2. http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk
  23. ImgBurn doesn't change the playback order or that type of stuff, so it sounds more as a player issue. On the burned disc, you have something like this? (the number of VOB files might be different) Do you have a software player in your computer? If so, play the burned disc by selecting the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to see if it plays booth videos after each other. Can you post the log of that burn? You find old logs here. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=14632
