All of my ROM drives will auto drop speed down when the condition of the disc is poor, Witnessed it many times, I assumed rightly or wrongly that this was part of the spec of readers when they know they are struggling to read data, they just keep dropping read speed until the data has been read. Your best bet is to clean it as advised or try in another dvd rom reader or search for iso puzzle in google if you have 2 rom drives and 1 reads bits the other does not

Rarring up an ISO with video material within the ISO rarely decreases the size by more than a couple of meg.

Rubbish Media or faulty drive or both, When you get your verbatim try again if it persists faulty burner
-
Yes there are some steps 1 ditch the crap media you have (which is hit and miss) hence why you got 8 out of 10 coasters, You say this was after you installed ImgBurn 2.2.0.0. If you had a time machine and you went back and did not install ImgBurn, the other burning programs you have would have done exactly the same, They may not have reported the errors but they would have still been present. You may say well that cannot be right COS after i Un-installed it i got 3 that worked, YEAH , just goes to prove that the media you have is crap and unpredictable. Check you drive has the most current firmware, then get some verbatim dual layer. If you still have problems then you have other problems, maybe drive is faulty or your operating system needs reinstalling as you only know yourself what kinda crap you have installed into your computer. Other than that if you still think your right then you have the right to use something else. [Edit] Ntos type faster, thats 2x today

Put simply Nero lies about what speed it is writing at, Most drives start off at a certain speed and build up to the max, sometimes it never happens, drive/media/firmware combination. Poor media, will if your burner has certain features limit the speed you can write to that particular disc, no 2 disc's are identical with regards to quality, though choosing the best media would give you better odds of the media nearly being identical in quality. Poor quality standards on inferior media/brands would be the point of my case. Anyways if you don't believe [lfc] or me about Nero then download these couple of registry edits and right click on them and choose merge then burn the same kind of media again, this time Nero will show you what the actual write rate is. try this first http://www.dontasciime.f2s.com/speednbuffer.reg if when you try to download it, it turns into a winamp or windows media file [mp3] you would have to right click and save target as then re-save it as .reg or just download the zipped version below. zipped version http://dontasciime.f2s.com/speednbuffer.zip

If your aim is to rip movies using ImgBurn, then look for something else as it does not do it. If your wanting to burn ISO images then right click on the ISO and choose burn with ImgBurn, put blank in writer and press bottom left Iso>Disc icon's
-
yes it should still happen, ImgBurn was not designed to rip commercial dvd's nor can it.

If I remember rightly, there is no way, as L_UK would not want his app hidden from any user. I may be wrong or simply misunderstand what your trying to achieve

What would you rather do burn 6 coasters at name your price for the 6 failed. Or have 1 Verbatim burn perfect giving you the end result of it being playable. Choice is yours, keep wasting time and money on the poor media you have, or invest a little more and be happy. PS With that media, you have little chance of a successful burn at 2.4x never mind trying to burn them at 8x
-
yes as long as the iso is small enough for CD, otherwies it will have to go onto dvd media. Will not work with audio cd,s though.
-
I must have missed the other post. oops
-
maybe cos the film is an AVI and your DVD player does not support mpeg4, divx/xvid etc. It could be it does not like the -R you got either but I would say it's what I first typed from the sectors and size
-
That was not 7x writing that was 7x for verifying.
-
I was going to say 0x
-
It will more than likely work with both , just the -R you have are not that good with your drive, try getting some verb -r or taiyo yuden -r TYG02
-
Muppet, you need a mac and toast

have you got any other DVD media other than the TTH01 ones to try in case your writer just hates them. Scan the hard drive you have the ISO stored on for errors, auto fix file system etc ticked only just to make sure before you burn that ISO to any other media or even 1 more go with the media you have also see if there are any firmware updates for your writer

open ImgBurn and press F8 then post the log.
