See if there is a firmware update for your drive. Get a cd lens cleaner CD and see if after you clean the drive/lens. it's any better. If still the same change your media to Taiyo Yuden G02 or 8 x Mcc Verbatim

Is there a reason also for the UDF 2.50. If your aim is to make AVC - BDMV, AVCHD then fine but if MPEG2 then you should be using 1.02
