If your home dvd player plays mpeg4/ xvid/ divx you just need to burn as is. test using a cdr and a file that will fit to 700 meg and see if your player picks it up

Windows may report DMA is fine but in reality Windoze lies sometimes. Check out the FAQ on the forum about how to reset DMA Also try a CD cleaner

That dye is funny to write to, maybe try 8x then all you can do is to keep checking for firmware updates or checkout out ala42's MCSE as you can crossflash that drive to H55L in next release. However you will probably have to remove drive from enclosure and install to PC to flash as from what I read the enclosure chipset does not play nice with firmware update which is common I could not flash my LG H55L to latest firmware whilst in enclosure that uses PL-3507 chipset. I had to connect mine to another usb > ide device to flash.

The Auto is for LG/ Samsung For yours you need to click the little book icon at bottom right and the liteon tab and set it from there. Or tools/drive/change book type

I would just like to say I have had plenty of Samsung DVD-ROM drives that worked OK 1 minute and Broke the next with various symptoms . No bios detection being one of them, another drive being recognised as Samslung ¬/$ in bios (or similar) to not being able to read DVD,s but Cd's being fine, no power at all on another one clicking noise could go on for a while as I have had about 20 of them go off their DVD -Roms do not last long IMO. That command must also be in the samsung utils they release so If your convinced take it up with Samsung.

My H55L 1.03 firmware only shows 4x on verb MKM-001-00 Flashed it to 1.05 and still just 4x strange though as the 1.05 firmware and 1.03 firmware have the 2.4x write strategy present
