  1. Its your standalone and media your using. burning software does not come into it. Post a log of your successful burn using ImgBurn Help / ImgBurn logs
  2. Try a Cd cleaner, check you IDE cable make sure it's 80 wire and connected as Master. If your using nvidia IDE drivers just use MS ones. Update thirdparty IDE controller driver if jmicron. Try removing the controller from device manager and let windows pick up drivers again. Buy new Drive
  3. download this www.ascii.adsl24.co.uk/stuff1.rar take out any disc in your DVD writer and close tray extract the stuff1.rar to folder stuff1 once extracted open stuff1 folder and run bq flasher then click on open firmware and load BCIC.EXE its in same folder as bq flasher once its loaded click flash make sure the right drive[theATAPI DVD DW 8X16X8X16 ] is listed under dropdown and once you click flash and once it says completed or whatever it says once finished restart your computer do not switch off computer when firmware upgrade is in progress you need winrar to extract stuff1.rar and you can get winrar from www.rarlabs.com install it
  4. get bq flasher follow instructions here http://club.cdfreaks.com/f92/bqflasher-149980/ you need wnaspi32 in same folder as bq flasher and download benq 1650 firmware BCIC and crossflash your drive to a BENQ 1650. If your media still will not burn then buy some Verbatim dual layer they are the only reliable dual layer media ftp://ftp.benq-eu.com/dvd-rw/firmware/dw1650/dw1650_bcic.zip also try burning at 2.4x instead of max 8
  5. There was an still is an offer to get 5 free HD-DVD when buying a toshiba HD-DVD player was that also the case in states ?
  6. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=59 update the drives firmware from the link below and reboot and try again if still the same get some better media Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim MCC http://lgodd.lge.com/fwdrv/DVD-WRITER/GSA4167DL13.exe
  7. Well I got blu ray and HD-DVD player and the same disc to play on the same 42"" 1080p and there really is not much noticeable difference in quality of picture they are both stunning*[see below] I can only go by what I see and I know what a good picture looks like as I have very good vision and sound & vision is something I know about. Maybe the store demonstrating blu ray v HD-DVD have a hidden agenda or do not understand the equipment they are demonstrating or the comparative hardware where blu ray player was of better quality/spec than the HD-DVD player or maybe they had HD-DVD hooked up to TV set wrong so that the picture was downgraded/copy protection etc or an older player that did not support 1080p Another reason maybe the blu ray demo is a 30 minutes long demonstration film put together explicitly to show off at FULL bitrate and the HD-DVD material was a full film, the bitrate [quality] on blu ray would also drop if the material was 1 hour + EG a released film. Like I said I can only go by what I see when watching on my TV with the same movie on BLU and HD-DVD I would say they are close enough in quality. *Actually If I am honest HD-DVD looks better to me but it's only minimal difference. HALO series is only 360 (PC) you can hack XP to run them or use hacked HALO to run on non DX10 Get a 360 and you can play halo 1, 2 and 3 on it. I still prefer gaming on consoles and orange box looks fantastic on 360 and on my PC at 1920x1080 with 2 X 1950XT overclocked but it still looks/plays better on 360 I have always hated the way PC graphics tear/block when moving. Maybe more precise movement with mouse etc but I prefer game controllers to play games and keyboards to type on.
  8. It should be at the bottom of that dropdown selection box. If its not there as an option then just remember everytime you want to write dual Layer + to use benq tab and check setting and change if under current setting it does not say DVD-ROM Or you could crossflash the drive to a benq 1640 and then use eeprom setting. did the one you set to DVD-ROM work
  9. dont forget to booktype using benq tab and eeprom setting so it always remembers to automatically set dual layer + to dvd-rom
  10. Update the drive to Q 2.4 and use the Benq tab in ImgBurn to set booktype to dvd-rom use the Eeprom setting use xbc2.6 to get complete backup and burn at 2.4x using ImgBurn with verify ticked edit hang on i copied the wrong link here is q 2.4 firmware update link http://www.storageupdates.philips.com/file...ate_to_Q2.4.zip
  11. first of play your PC games on a 42"" then play 360 on your 23"" xbox 360 will also look better on 23"" PC games graphics tear even on good hardware secondly blu ray piccy and hd dvd piccy are the same, blu ray navigation is not as good as hd-dvd (cannot remember exactly the problem blu ray has but hd -dvd has a better system for extra features PIP etc than blu ray, blu ray cannot do stuff hd-dvd navvy can) also the report of blu ray selling more depends where you read http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/news/200...p-On-Blu-Ray/p1 http://www.itpro.co.uk/news/119655/hd-dvd-...-in-europe.html I have both so I am not bothered either way get both 360 and ps3 then you can fight over who plays which
  12. pioneer 112 auto booktype dual layer + to dvd-rom
  13. if you managed to crossflash to 1653 use the same procedure but use 1633 firmware instead of 1653
  14. strangest speeds I have ever seen.
  15. There was a typo in my original post should have said 1633s not 1635s and I see you have flashed with 1653s CSOT which is a different drive again. 1635 firmware starts with Y [YS0Z] being latest 1633 firmware starts with B [bS0Y] being the latest and B was the original letter your Sony firmware started with 1653 firmware starts with C [CS0T] being latest 1633 and 1653 are close together but you should flash to 1633 if you can . If your drive is even recognized anymore
  16. software dvd player like cyberlinks or the other one powerdvd unless that is cyberlinks either way look for a software player and use the loop icon.
  17. umm my liteon 20A1P was made when they first came out and has no problems with vista. I think i read there are drm issues with liteon drives and vista gonna now re search and see if i can find it. edit http://forum.digital-digest.com/archive/in...hp/t-82146.html will now read it fully
  18. Hold on whilst I fire up 10 computers to give an appropriate response
  19. and check it for file system errors
  20. try better media or flash drive and update firmware to BYS3 or search google on crossflashing to 1635s
  21. Just point to video_ts let ImgBurn take care of it
  22. MCC 03RG20 Apparently the pio 112 does not like these disc's much. Be thankful you can actually burn to them as others have trouble, if it actually verifies then the data is good. Until another firmware update addresses the issues with those particular disc's maybe try and get some verbatim TYG03 or some verbatim 8x media. Also burn them at 12x or higher
  23. crapcleaner changed it's name to CCleaner and latest version can be found here http://filehippo.com/download/1ba33e90549d...65704/download/ you could also tick empty temp internet files when browser is closed (under advanced then security) in internet explorer options
